Gonzalez traveled to the series with a friend and had no intention of entering this event.

They both played the $1K Super Seniors. Gonzalez busted, while his friend advanced to Day 2 and made the money. His friend then convinced him to register for the $1,500 Freezeout, even though Gonzalez hadn’t planned on playing it.

The decision paid off.

Ciro Gonzalez has been playing poker for 16 years. Before last night, he had just $30K in lifetime tournament earnings. He said he plans to give the bracelet to his daughter.
