Artur Martirosian Won the Biggest Single Prize

Russian star grinder Artur Martirosian, also known by his nicknames mararthur1 and AlwaysWithNuts, won the opening tournament of The Highest Five – Phil’s $25K Puff & Bluff.

The tournament, named after WPN CEO Phil Nagy, attracted the cream of the poker community — but Artur once again proved to be the best in the most expensive events.

He easily won the high-stakes competition, spending $76,500 on entries and receiving $371,000 in return — the largest prize ever for a winner in this series.

He also managed to collect smaller prizes in two other The Highest 5 tournaments: $22,950 for the 7th place in the $10,3K BIG Fatty 6-Max, and $31,620 for the 5th place in the $5,2K Last Blunt Special.

However, despite receiving a total of $425,570 in prize money during the series, Artur’s profit at the end of it was only $145,428 — much less than the other two heroes of our article earned.

Kunish0 Finished the Series With Two Consecutive Victories

One of the best stories from The Highest 5 comes from a player named Kunish0.

Firstly, they finished fifth in the fifth event of the series, $10,3K BIG Fatty 6-Max, taking a  $39,525 prize after spending $20,6K on entries. This tournament was later won by none other than Chris Moneymaker — you can read about his success in the Chris Moneymaker Wins the Golden Bong and Responds to Critiques article.

Almost until the end of The Highest 5, Kunish0 failed to even make it into the minimum prizes, but then they fortunately hit a blast: two victories in a row, both in the final tournaments of the series.

Firstly, they took down the $15,4K Last Dab, winning $226,800. Secondly, the victory in the $5,2K Last Blunt Special brough them $86,360.

While it wasn’t enough to win The Highest 5 leaderboard, Kunish0 undoubtedly didn’t leave the series feeling downhearted, as they managed to turn their results into a $267K profit.

Alex Foxen Made the Most Money to Get the Bong

For Alex “OutFoxenYou” Foxen The Highest 5 wasn’t easy. He tried hard to win at least one title but someone always managed to “outfox” him.In the first event — Phil’s $25K Puff & Buff — as we already mentioned, Artur Martirosian busted Alex from the heads-up with a $265,000 prize. In the second event  $5,2K Blunt Special, Alex finished fourth taking $59,325.

The next four events he wasn’t around ITM but then became a runner-up again — this time in the $10,3K Full Baked PLO 6-Max, losing to BetinOleg. The second place gave Alex additional $107,500, while the winner took home $161,250.

The only other times we saw Alex in the money were in the last two tournaments of the series.

He finished sixths In the $15,4K Last Dab, taking $60,660.90 — and fourth in the $5,2K Last Blunt Special, winning another $40,120.

During the series, Foxen ultimately made five final tables and earned $532,605 in prize money — more than any other participant! — reaching half a million dollars in profit on the WPN.

Thanks to this, he also secured victory in The Highest 5 leaderboard, where there was only one prize for the top player — the Golden Bong trophy.

By the way, what exactly this trophy will look like isn’t yet entirely clear. WPN CEO Phil Nagy shared a generated model of the proposed bong (first image) and received a suggestion for improvements (second image), but no one can say for sure yet whether it will ultimately look similar to this.
