Phil Hellmuth and Michael Jordon to team up?

By: Lianne Elias

ESPN.com's in-house poker columnist, Steve Rosenbloom, is speculating that a potential "buddying up" of poker pro Phil Hellmuth and basketball legend Michael Jordon is in the works. In an article published earlier this week, Rosenbloom discussed rumors that Hellmuth has been recruited to council long-time gambling lover Michael Jordan in the secrets of poker.

According to Rosenbloom, Jordan's love of action has never in the past extended to the poker table, largely because he "refuses to let himself be embarrassed in any kind of performance, especially one that might be televised." Rosenbloom is contending, however, that the basketball superstar might now be tempted to "seek one of the best players he could…and get lessons."

In an effort to clarify the rumor, Rosenbloom questioned Hellmuth about it but received a resolute "I have no comment" from the illustrious Poker Brat. When pushed, Hellmuth reportedly responded: "I will say that Michael Jordan is a fan of mine, and I'm really honored and amazed. Beyond that, I'm ready for him on the golf course and the poker table.''

Jordan is renowned for wagering on golf games with his golf opponents.
