Full Review

Gnuf Poker is one of the newer rooms on the Microgaming network, bringing a fresh and sharp look and great playability to the network. Gnuf Poker boasts high traffic, wide game variety and an extensive range of table limits, and it has quickly become a favorite among multi-table players and sit-and-go enthusiasts.

The software provides very useful stats as well as three different table sizes: large, normal and mini view. The large number of short-handed and turbo tables create loose and juicy games as well as quick playability - sometimes seeing more than 120 hands played per hour.

Although there are always details that can be improved, the software has proven to be very functional, fast and reliable, and is available in both a download and a no-download flash version.

The games offered at Gnuf Poker are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw and Five-Card Stud. The games vary between No-Limit, Pot-Limit, and Fixed-Limit. Full-table games, short-handed, and heads-up tables are all available.

Gnuf Poker also run plenty of promotions, including a Bad Beat Jackpot that pays out when four-of-a-kind eights-or-better is beaten in a cash game.

Real-money player statistics as of May 2012 show 2100 ring-game players at peak hours, and 10000 tournament players at peak hours.

Overall, Pokerlistings finds that Gnuf Poker offers great action and good game diversity. The software plays very well and is updated frequently to ensure safety and stability, with very little downtime as a result.

Tournaments and Freerolls

Tournament Traffic

The tournament traffic at Gnuf Poker is shared with the large Microgaming network and is very good as a result. Real-money player statistics show 10000 real-money tournament players at peak hours, as of May 2012.

Tournaments

Gnuf Poker hosts many tournaments with buy-ins from $1 to hundreds of dollars. The tournaments are well populated and fast, and play is usually somewhat loose. Because many of the tournaments are re-buy events, play in the early stages is often extremely loose, so be sure to note the type of tournament before joining.

Gnuf Poker runs monthly $250,000 guaranteed tournaments as well as a $150,000 weekly guaranteed, both drawing a large number of players. There are daily qualifiers running to these tournaments with buy-ins as low as $5.50. The poker room also offers some qualifiers to big live events like the European Poker Tour.

Software and Graphics

Gnuf Poker's software is a customized version of the Microgaming software and operates on the Microgaming network. It runs fast and smooth with good playability. The software allows players to take notes of the opposition during play and the lobby supplies vital table statistics like the view-flop percentage, average pot size and hands played per hour. During play, you can see statistics of your own play, for example, how often you see the flop, win percentage and more. There is also a graphic replay of hands that is very useful.

The Gnuf Poker software supports play at eight tables simultaneously and runs smoothly with few problems even in multi-table play. The software supports play at either all tables full-size or in mini view. The graphics are clean and uniformly colored, although all the information on display can make the tables a little cluttered. The software is updated regularly to ensure safety and reliability, with some downtime as a result.

Statistics

The data and statistics functions in Gnuf Poker's software allow you to take notes on your opposition during play, and the lobby supplies vital table statistics like viewed-flop percentage, average pot size, seated-player's stack size and hands played per hour. At any time a player can look at an analysis of his own play through an interface at the table, seeing checks, calls, folds and re-raises. The hand history works well in the software and exports smoothly to the local computer for analysis, but does not list hands played in a session. One useful function when clearing bonuses is that the lobby counts raked hands, making it easy for a player to keep track of how much he has played.

Multi-Table

The latest version of Gnuf Poker's software supports up to eight tables of simultaneous play and, if used with the mini-table size option, five tables can be viewed at the same time. Multi-table play runs smoothly and few problems have been reported. The tables are a little cluttered and the chat and other information dialogues take up a little too much space. For those with diminished vision, the hole cards can be hard to distinguish.

Graphics

The graphics of the Gnuf Poker software are standard but a little cluttered and hard to get used to. Most users seem to think they are ok, but nothing special. Avatars are not used and the felt color is a nice cool blue.

Special Features

The Gnuf Poker software offers the basic features available at most poker rooms. Special functions are the mini view that helps multi-table play on smaller monitors, and the table-integrated statistics. Gnuf Poker also offers something called high-stakes European blackjack, where players can bet up to $1,000 on a single hand.

Soft Competition

Gnuf Poker offers loose and juicy games, you just have to know where to find them. The short-handed (six players maximum) and turbo tables produce wild games with viewed-flopped percentages upwards of 55%. The average viewed-flop percentage for full 10-player tables is just under 40%.
