Former Counter-Strike legend Griffin “shaGuar” Benger is officially streaming on Twitch.tv but it’s not for the reason you might think.
First off, Benger isn’t streaming Counter-Strike.
Benger’s actually been out of the pro video game scene for quite awhile.
Instead the Toronto native is streaming online poker and giving some incredible insight into what he's thinking when he's at the virtual tables.
This isn’t a complete surprise since plenty of pros including Jason “Jcarver” Somerville, Jonathan Little and Dan O’Brien are already streaming online poker on Twitch with considerable success.
Benger’s background, however, is unique since he was one of the most famous Counter-Strike pros and a member of the original Team NoA.
Benger Brings $5+m in Career Earnings to Twitch
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Benger is willing to give away information for free.
He’s one of the most profitable online poker players in history and has racked up over $5.4 million playing online tournaments.
Recently Benger also won the PokerStars Shark Cage TV show for $1 million.
Benger had over 500 people viewing his stream within a few hours of starting and a few notable poker pros even stopped by to comment in the chatbox.
He’s the second poker pro with a major background in professional gaming to start streaming poker as famed Starcraft pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier has also started to stream online poker.
Every day the line between poker and video games get blurrier and if poker pros keep joining Twitch.tv it’s going to be damn near invisible in the near future in a few years.
