Qualify for 50 Cents for the PokerStars $7.5M Sunday Million Anniversary!

Some celebrations are more worthy than others, and while we could argue that we should all celebrate the wonders of real money online poker generally, there are special events that come along that are simply too good to miss.

One such is the 17th anniversary edition at PokerStars of their iconic Sunday Million fixture which, over the years, has paid out massive sums in prizes to many players. Having a weekly ‘regular’ tournament that guarantees a $1,000,000 prize pool is impressive indeed, but when this particular event kicks off on Sunday 26 March there’ll be even more to play for as the total amount of booty up for grabs will be a cool $7.5 million guaranteed, with the eventual winner picking up at least the $1 million that’s being set aside for the champion.

Sunday Million: A Brief History

Known to many as the Milly, the Sunday Million is, not surprisingly, a record-breaker as far as online poker tournaments go. Of course, over time, the tournament has undergone numerous changes and format tweaks as the landscape of online poker and players themselves have evolved. Perhaps the most significant move by PokerStars was switching to a progressive knockout format, given that bounty tournaments are all the rage nowadays (and rightly so).

Many a successful career began courtesy of the Sunday Million since its original launch in 2006. With the tournament being held every week during all these years, there have been countless winners pocketing life-changing sums. This is very impressive, of course, but there exists an elite group of 19 poker stars who deserve legendary status for winning the iconic tournament twice, including Renan “Internett93o” Bruschi, Rob “robtinnion” Tinnion and Paul “pvas2” Van Nunes. However, only one has managed to be victorious three times, namely Artem “veeea” Vezhenkov of Russia.

How to Qualify

There are many ways to get your hands on a $215 ticket for this megabucks event (including simply buying in). As well as standard satellites, which have buy-ins from Freerolls to $22, there are the following options:

Fast Track

The Fast Track route - which boasts $75,000 in added value - gives players a chance to qualify for as little as $0.50 thanks to a flexible Steps set-up that works as follows (note that you can simply buy in at any Step!):

  • Step 0: $0.50 Spin & Go >
  • Step 1: $1.50 Sit & Go >
  • Step 1.5: $5 Sit & Go/MTT >
  • Step 2: $20 MTT >
  • $215 Sunday Million entry

Spin & Go

Special edition Sunday Million Anniversary Spin & Go tournaments will be available right up until the event itself begins, with prizes ranging from satellite tickets and cash to $215 tickets. Again, you can start your quest to poker glory from just $0.50 if you so wish, and there’s a range of buy-ins to suit every bankroll.

For example, this is how the prize probabilities break down in a $4 buy-in Sunday Million Anniversary Spin & Go:
