We’ve found bad poker sites running with bad operational and financial practices - and PPPoker online is one of them. It’s a relatively new online poker site (established 2016), which has managed to keep running - for now. But without proper regulation, there’s no stopping such poker sites from scamming players and taking their money. We don’t want that to happen to you - so here’s the full disclosure in this PPPoker review.
In Our PPPoker Review:
- Their exploitive, convoluted agent and club model
- Suspicious poker “Legality” - and why PPPoker USA is a thing
- Why you can’t make a PPPoker withdrawal
- Why PPPoker is not a safe environment - especially for winners
- High rake and fees charged to players by third-party agents
- Reported PPPoker scams and failure to monitor unethical players
- What legit poker sites we can honestly recommend
BLACKLISTED ONLINE POKER SITE
PPPoker: Not safe.
We strongly advise against playing here.
How the PPPoker App Operates
The PPPoker app was released just four years ago using AceKing Tech software and is basically a poker ponzi scheme. It has a multi-level structure involving agents, club admins, and the like - where nobody has responsibility. So you’ll likely get no support should you have any issues with the app, payments or experience.
This also means the possibility of fraud and money laundering is very real. Because dishonest agents and club admins get a back door to easily run off with player money.
There have been such accusations against this site which they could not justify.
(Case studies on this further down.)
Poker Legality - or Illegality
Essentially, the PPPoker app uses play money to play real money games in private clubs with mostly Chinese players. (We can see a similar situation with the PokerBros app and Upoker app.) This is how PPPoker USA became available. Because they manage to bypass the many anti-gambling laws in places like the US, UK and Australia. But these private clubs are shady because all interactions are between the club owner and member - shifting risk onto players.
Firstly, the specific formats you’re able to play depends on your club, so the schedule is available behind closed doors. Secondly, you also need to purchase the "Play money" from a third-party agent, which leaves the site with zero financial / legal accountability.
Play Money & Real Money Loophole
You can sit in NLHE, PLO, and OFC play chip ring games with a gold coin or diamond buy-in. Basically the site/ company provides chips to private clubs, and the managers / agents decide how to distribute these chips among members / players. This means there's no fixed agreements to acquire chips, so players have to negotiate them. Yes, there's a lot going on beneath the surface of the clubs.
Although, the PPPoker app claims to be a virtual/ play money platform, it’s known to actually have real money gaming. Because players buy chips from club owners or agents and ’sell’ back their winnings.
Third-Party Agents / Club Owners Profit Off Players
The club owner is known to make a profit here because they’re charging high rake and fees to “run the club”. Meanwhile, agents recruit players to the site in exchange for a percentage of the player’s PPPoker rake. Hence - high rake is charged. If you sign up, your agent gets credit and you’ll be considered a member of their downline.
There’s lots of instances where PPPoker rakeback is promoted. However, this also comes down to the club owners and agents - and your agreement with them. So there’s no guarantee. Also this rakeback may be whittled down by clubs charging tax percentages, withdrawal fees, and similar impositions.
PPPoker Withdrawals are Scarce - and illegal
You’ll need to alert your agent or club owner that you want to withdraw winnings and get instructions from them on how to proceed. Again there’s no fixed procedure, and AceKing Tech software won’t intervene. Of course, with such free rein within the PPPoker app, you’ll see lots of agents slow-pay players - or not pay at all. We’ve seen hundreds of complaints in poker forums from players who haven’t seen their winnings even after a year. And who, in truth, may never see them, because there’s nobody overseeing these transactions.
Even then, it’s all hush-hush because withdrawing to real money is not allowed to begin with. Being a play money app, they have no right to facilitate this. In fact, their terms state that they won’t recognize these transactions and may terminate your account (to cover up). So even going to support will not help your case. Worse still - it may end with you losing your account and funds.
PPPoker - Not a Safe Environment
- No Financial Liability
If the site/app shuts down, every player’s money disappears and you can’t cash out your account. There’s no proper licensing and hence no regulations, which means no security for your money - nor the games available. Clubs can have all player accounts closed for any reason they deem and player funds will be lost. We’ve seen many complaints about this.
- High rake, fees and exploitation
Essentially players have no rights and are not protected from such PPPoker scams. Because they are not regulated and can charge players whatever ‘fee’ they wish. This results in exorbitant highly rake charged to players - even up to 12%! The fact that it’s play money obscures this fact even more.
- No Player Rights
“Any feedback you provide is deemed to be non-confidential and non-proprietary.
[We] shall be free to use such information on an unrestricted basis, without any compensation to you or any third party.”
- Site terms and conditions
- Unethical Players
Players are constantly colluding and cheating, using VPNs, botting and multi-accounting. And no one does or can do anything about it. This isn’t only upsetting, but affects the integrity of the game. The “Anti-Cheating Team” and “Anti-Bot Measures” seem not to target actual cheaters, but legitimate winners.
Why We Blacklisted the PPPoker Game
- Not licensed by any recognized legal body.
- Ponzi scheme layout with no rules and no player safety
- High rake and fees charged to players, ex: in-app HUD.
- Scams and cheating allegations ignored
- Payments not guaranteed - Slow or no PPPoker withdrawals
- No support for targeted players and are unresponsive.
- Player collusion and cheating - Failure to investigate
- Player info is shared to third parties and feedback is ignored

Our Recommended Online Poker Sites
Is PPPoker rigged? The AceKing Tech software doesn’t seem to be rigged and GLI gave their RNG a PASS rating. However, the system leaves doors open to players being scammed by agents and admins, money laundering, and high rake. Withdrawals are illegal and not encouraged.
Is PPPoker legal? It gets around poker legality by having clubs offering ring games for gold coins instead of real money. So technical PPPoker USA is legal - but it shouldn’t be. You need to purchase coins through third-party agents with no financial and legal liability - and zero protection for players.
Is PPPoker safe?No way. It isn’t properly licensed and regulated, which means no protection for players. Club owners and admins get to control clubs any way they wish. Games are controlled behind closed doors. And it’s the club owners / agents who decide how to distribute gold coins, sales terms and negotiations with players. When no one in this pyramid scheme has liability, players have no one to turn to when issues arise. Or will likely be ignored.
Who owns PPPoker? The owner is AceKing Tech Limited software who created the app. However, it’s divided into hundreds and thousands of private clubs, each owned by third-party agents / club admins.
Why did we blacklist PPPoker? We at PokerListings have blacklisted PPPoker because they’re not licensed or regulated by any legal bodies we recognize. Plus, their ponzi scheme layout with private clubs and multiple tiers has no rules, and hence no player security. Club managers / admins do a lot behind closed doors - from games and stakes to high rake. They’re also known for slow - or no - PPPoker withdrawals. And going to support will not help your case - instead it can even result in account termination and funds lost. The site will not intervene in transactions, player collusion, cheats and scams. There have been allegations that they couldn’t defend or do anything about.
Can I close my PPPoker account?Yes, you can. And if you haven’t deposited money, you can always close your account or let it fall dormant without any activity. Unfortunately, we can’t assure you you’ll get your money back if you did deposit.
Can I get my money back from pppoker?Unfortunately, we can’t assure you you’ll get your money back if you did deposit there. And taking legal action against them would land you in a bit of a poker/gambling grey zone. Maybe you can try addressing the regulatory gaming organization in your country, if there is one.
How to tell if a poker site is trustworthy?Safe and reliable online poker sites have proof that they can be trusted on their website. Look for marks of external auditing - like random number generator tests, license stamps, security tools used, and positive player reviews.
