Fortune Wheel Spin to Win

The PokerGO Poker Masters is in full swing and, with four events in the bag, we’ve already seen some impressive performances, including two wins by Vladas Tamasauskas.

Tamasauskas has live poker results dating back to 2015, including a breakout win worth almost $200,000 at the 2016 UKIPT event in Dublin. However, despite having over $2 million in live earnings, he’s far from a household name. This relatively anonymity is exacerbated by the fact Tamasauskas is playing in a series filled with famous names, including Daniel Negreanu, Alex Foxen, and Andrew Lichtenberger.

Vladas Tamasauskas Proves He’s a Poker Master

Not being the most recognizable face at felt certainly isn’t a reflection of Tamasauskas’ skills. Indeed, the Lithuanian pro topped a field of 114 entries in the opening event of PokerGO’s 2023 Poker Masters. Plenty of pros made it deep in the $10,100 No Limit Texas Hold’em event, including Ryan Riess and Byron Kaverman. However, it was Tamasauskas who claimed all the chips and the $239,400 top prize.

Again it was another $10,100 No Limit Hold’em tournament but, this time, he needed to beat just 86 other players to take the title. The slighter smaller field certainly didn’t mean his route to victory was any easier. Vladas Tamasauskas had fend off advances from tournament veterans such as Andrew Lichtenberger, Chance Kornuth, and Alex Foxed to pick up his second six-figure payday.

More Masterful Poker to Come

With another title and $208,800 added to his record, Tamasauskas had won $506,400 in just three Poker Masters events. That haul is enough to put him top of the current Player of the Series leaderboard ahead of the only two other winners so far, Darren Elias and Chino Rheem.

7Jeremy Ausmus$45,500

9Jesse Lonis$36,400

Of course, there is still plenty of poker left to play. What’s more, there are plenty of capable pros vying for glory at the 2023 PokerGO Poker Masters. Daniel Negreanu went close in Event #4, Dan Shak has made multiple final tables, and Alex Foxen is in the mix for Player of the Series. So, with six events left to play and the Super High Roller Bowl on September’s schedule, Tamasauskas’ place at the top of the leaderboard is far from secure.

It is probably hard to truly estimate the number of poker players who have deviated from the path and left online poker sites to venture toward their local live poker games. There’s more than just one reason for this; high rake, tougher games, lack of social interaction post-COVID, but a huge one is online poker cheating.

Cheating in online poker has become a cancer in the game, and for a while, the needle on finding the cure has not moved one inch until today. Leading online poker solver tool GTOWizard has made huge strides in battling online poker cheating, after announcing their new Fair Play tool and relationships with online poker operators.

What Is GTOWizard?

GTOWizard is the market leader when it comes to GTO (Game Theory Optimal) training tools. It has used intuitive and easy-to-use user experience designs with a cloud-based solver to help players learn GTO faster than ever before. The software allows you to check previous hand histories, put in custom boards, and even run dynamic training exercises.

The biggest feature and cause of moral concern for online poker is the rapid speed at which you can get solved results for flop, turn, and river spots; Before, you would need to use your CPU and wait over 30 minutes and more, but now you can get it without any CPU usage and within 30 seconds.

RTA Cheating in Online Poker

Real-Time Assistance (RTA) cheating is one of the most damaging cheating methods in online poker. It’s the process where a player will use a tool to get an unfair edge by getting real-time advice on what the most optimal move is. This clearly undermines the integrity of the game and gives cheaters a huge advantage over players who are truly playing.

GoWizard Assistance

The rapid rise of RTA use in online poker has led to claims for more robust anti-cheating methods and an exodus from the online to the live felt. Examples of both proven and accused cheating, like the Fedor Kruse and Ali Imsirovic cases, only exemplified the endemic nature of RTA cheating within the online poker world.

The Turning Point for Online Poker?

GTOWizard has now partnered with major poker networks like the Winning Poker Network (WPN) and WPT Global in order to battle against online cheaters. The movement has gained praise from industry experts, and the aim is to be able to identify bots and RTA cheaters instantly, banning them from the online poker community entirely.

What is the GTOWizard Fair Play Check?

The basis of the GTOWizard announcement and anti-cheating measures came in the form of a Fair Play Check tool. This allows online poker players to check if a certain poker spot has been solved in real time during their online poker session.

If players are suspicious, they can contact their online poker operator with timestamped evidence, and GTOWizard will work to create a substantial investigation. This is a huge turning point in online poker fair play, as now the biggest tool used by online poker RTA cheaters is working with online poker rooms to eradicate dishonest play.

Slowing Down the Solver Speed

GTOWizard has actively reduced the huge benefit of their online poker tool in order to combat RTA cheating, showing how serious they are in this endeavor. The software tool will now have built-in tools that slow down the speed at which online poker solves can be looked up. There will also be limits introduced per day, giving more layers of security to the online poker community.

GTOWizard’s Security Seal of Approval

GTOWizard is working to legitimize online poker operators who match their game integrity standards, elevating a waning part of the online poker industry. They will create GTO Reports where players can inspect their games and hands and see if they have been up against any kind of in-human or ‘robot-like’ poker play. This move also encourages the need for collaboration and communication between multiple online poker operators, which is a net positive for online poker players.

Who’s Behind the Move?

Pushing the move is GTOWizard’s Marc-Antoine Provost, the co-creator of poker AI solver Ruse, who now leads the internal Game Integrity team at GTOWizard. His vast experience and technical ability in this area are promising for the ongoing battle against online poker cheating, where players can focus on working towards their poker goals with integrity and hard work rather than seeking quick corners and edges.

How Far Does This Move the Needle Against Online Poker Cheating?

This is a significant step in the battle against online poker cheating, but we are yet to see active signs of cheaters being eradicated from the online poker space. As it stands, there are more than likely countless bots and RTA-using poker players among the major online poker operators. Once GTOWizard and the poker sites begin exposing and collecting case studies showing that these tools, initiatives, and relationships are fruitful, we are not going to see the needle move too significantly.

Even though the PokerListings’ team had a rainy Estonia as a breakfast view, the expectations for the Wednesday at the WSOPC Tallinn was high. With flight 1B of the €1 500 Main Event as well as the €1 100 PLO 4&5 on the Ring Event schedule, there were for sure a lot of action to look forward to. Let’s dive into the action and see what happened at Olympic Park Casino yesterday!

42 Survivors Into Day 2

Main Event 1B kicked off at 12:00 and saw 107 players throwing their name into the mix. After about 8 hours of play, it stood clear that 42 of these had survived level 10 and could bag their chips into day 2 which will be played Friday 22nd. It was the Estonian Urmo Velvelt who bagged the most with his 293 000 stack.

Today, thursday 21st, both flight 1C and 1D will be played, and of course we will follow along with the action on the live blog as well as on our social media pages.

Norwegian Domination in the PLO 4&5

Finland is one of the nations who have had most final table players so far in the WSOPC Tallinn. The €1 100 PLO 4&5 was no exception with 6 out of the 8 end game players wore the Finnish flag. Finland will have to wait a little longer for the first WSOPC Ring though, as Norway’s Jon Kyte dominated the tournament from the later stages. For this feat, Jon could collect a solid paycheck of €34 780.

Today, Thursday 21st, it is time for Main Event flight 1C (12:00) and flight 1D (19:00). Of course we will follow along with the action on the liveblog, which you can find here at www.pokerlistings.com, as well as on our social media channels. Be sure to hang out with us during this action-filled Thursday in the WSOPC Tallinn!

Global Poker’s first ever Celebrity Challenge promotion is well underway but there is still plenty of time left to get involved and take on the stars. In all, there are four celebs to battle it out with starting with none other than basketball legend and budding poker pro, Paul George.

Global Poker are giving players the chance to show off their skills against the legendary baller himself. From 19 September, running through the 26th of September, the popular online poker room will have a bunch of Sweeps Coin qualifying events in store for their players to participate in as well.

Each qualifier will produce one winner who will advance to the Paul George Final, where they will be given the chance to play against Paul George and compete for prizes including a place at the table for Global Poker Celebrity Challenge Grand Final in November.

Following PG-13’s campaign, Karl Anthony Towns, Michael Phelps and DJ Khaled all complete the superstar line up. All you need to do is head to GlobalPoker.com to sign up, register for an account and start playing.

Bring Your A Game

In total, there will be eight Sweeps Coin Qualifiers running from Sept 19 – 26. Global Poker players will battle it out for the chance to win a slice of the prize pool, an exclusive Global Poker T-shirt signed by Paul George and to secure a place in the Paul George Celebrity Challenge Final, where they will need to bring their A game when they take on PG-13 himself.

That’s not all there is to look forward to as players can also look on as all four of our poker playing heroes go head-to-head in a series of heads-up poker battles. Each celebrity will play against the other over the course of the series with all matches being streamed live on the Global Poker site.

The first of these heads up battles will see Paul George taking on his court comrade Karl-Anthony Towns. Here, the players have just three games to prove themselves. Whoever wins the best of three challenge will get to donate $10,000 to the charity of their choice. The winner of the heads-up challenge will be announced on 1 October on the Global Poker site.

Get Your Head in the Game

Following on from all four of the  Celebrity Challenges, Global Poker will be wrapping things up in style with two Grand Finals taking place in November. There will be one for the celebrities and another for the Global Poker finalists.

Four Global Poker finalists from each Celebrity Challenge Final will be given the opportunity to participate in our Global Poker Celebrity Challenge Grand Final on 12 November. They will compete for a chance to win a Ferrari Race Day experience which includes an all-expenses paid trip to a Ferrari Race Day experience of their choice in North America.

Each of the four celebs will be dealt a slightly different hand as, instead, they will get to take on each other in the Celebrity Challenge Grand Final on 13 November where only one celebrity can claim the top spot, but all of the top three winners will donate $90,000 between them to charities of their choice.

A full rundown of prizes can be found on the Global Poker Celebrity Challenge page.

The Festival Series recently introduced the schedule for their next stop in Bratislava, from November 26th until December 3rd at their beloved Banco Casino in Bratislava. Last year, the event broke all of its records with a cherry on the pie, the Main Event winner Michael Molenaar who won the biggest prize of € 126,500 in Slovakian poker history up until this day. With yet another guaranteed prize pool of € 500,000 in the Main Event, they are trying to top this record and write poker history yet again .

The Festival Series is just two years old, in which they have brought all the mixed poker games formats back into the spotlights of Europe’s poker industry. Founder Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk is known for giving an extra dimension to every newly introduced schedule, and this time he took it to another level! At PokerListings, we are going to dive a bit more deep into the new schedule to try and give you a view of what you can expect from their next event.

The Festival Series Bratislava Returns

With either three or four stops every year, The Festival Series is becoming a synonym for any other great poker event in Europe. Within just two years’ time, they have been all across Europe with stops in Tallinn, Bratislava, Malta, and Nottingham.

Before the 2024 plans are shared with the poker crowd, there is one massive stop waiting just around the corner. Bratislava is the so-called ‘coming back home’ stop of The Festival Series. For the 3rd consecutive year, they will be the guest of Banco Casino in Bratislava, which is currently one of the major destinations of live poker in Europe. With the guidance of Bancon Casinos’ Jan Packa, Zuzana Mikulikova, Michal Borovsky, and their entire team, the people of The Festival Series will host a stunning 54 events!

Within these events, there is of course place for the Main Event, but there are many other significant tournaments on the schedule which gives goosebumps to every mixed poker game player out there. But that’s not all, the unique trophies The Festival Series is handing out to every winner are pure craftsmanship, and the hospitality events make it happen that every group of poker friends enjoys their time not only at the poker tables but even more outside the world of poker.

Let’s dive more into it by highlighting the events which we think to be part of when being in Bratislava at the end of November:

€550 NLHE Main Event (€ 500,000 GTD)

Many Main Events are well-known for their great tournament structures and many opportunities to try and build yourself a reasonable stack for the second day of the tournament, still the day where the money will be reached and thus perhaps the most important day. With 40-minute blind levels, 30,000 starting chips, and a great blind structure, there is plenty of space to showcase your poker skills at the tables. If it won’t work out as you hoped at first, there is no concern, as two re-entries are allowed per opening flight. Speaking of which, there will be six opening flights of which two are turbo structured.

The Festival Series Bratislava ’22 Winner – Michel Molenaar
The Festival Series Bratislava ’22 Winner – Michel Molenaar

On Day 2 of the event, it is still possible to enter the Main Event within the first two levels of the day. Levels will have an extended duration of 45 minutes per level from that day onwards. Often the players assume that the tournament structure is mainly because of the organiser, but that’s not entirely true as the casino is always part of it as well. Chapeau to you all! We expect the first prize to be top-heavy this time around as well, trying to beat the previous record of Dutchman Michel Molenaar who took home a whopping € 126,500, topping a field of 1,271 entries in 2022’s edition.

€550 Mixed Games Main Event

Newly introduced to the poker world, and mouth-watering for the mixed games specialists is the Mixed Games Main Event, going by the name HORSES. It does not occur that often that players can enjoy both, a No-Limit Texas Hold’em Main Event, and a Mixed Games Main Event, which is all thanks to the love for poker of the grand man himself Martin ‘Franke’ von Zweigbergk. The last ‘S’ however, stands for Sviten Special, better known as DrawMaha poker. And let that be one of the specialities of the Swedish players, being the ‘inventors’ of that game. Currently, there is no guaranteed prize pool assigned to the tournament just yet, but without a doubt, it will be when this newly introduced Main Event will shake up the numbers.

Players will receive 30,000 starting chips and can enjoy 30-minute blind levels, through one of the three opening flights. Contrary to the NLHE version, there is no late registration possible on Day 2 of the event.

HendonMob Championship, The Festival Queens, Deepstack Tournament Returns

Just like the previous editions of The Festival Series, these three majestic tournaments will be part of the schedule once again. With buy-ins of respectively €250, €125, and €250,these tournaments can be called the so-called furniture of the event, which each has its own sort of pride towards the winner of the event.

HendonMob Championship Malta ‘22
HendonMob Championship Malta ‘22

By having the Mixed Games Main Event entering the schedule at the beginning of the week, it will be a head-to-head race with the Deepstack Championship in terms of entries, but the ladies’ events as well as the HendonMob event, always shine like a diamond throughout the week.

Non-Poker Tournaments

The Festival Series is not only known for poker events, and this time the Blackjack tournament/Roulette tournament/Sportsbook tournament will presumably rise to yet another level. When looking at the number of entrants during the past events of The Festival Series, there is a consistent improvement visible. And let’s be real, who doesn’t like to play some other tournaments than poker during a full poker holiday week?

Roulette Tournament Malta ‘22
Roulette Tournament Malta ‘22

All these formats are usually only played like cash games in poker, but if you add the competition dimension to it, there is so much more joy in it all, that you just really want to be part of something unique that stands. Consider the trophies they are handing out, one of these tournaments is perhaps your shortcut to one of them! Below you’ll find the full schedule. Make sure to click on it to make it easier to read.

The Festival Bratislava Schedule 2023

See you in Bratislava!

Waking up this morning, we hade quite the exciting day of live poker looking forward to! The first day of the €1 500 Main Event, the conclusion of the €660 Mystery Bounty, and the beautiful €555 Eight Game were the three WSOPC Ring Events to follow. Let’s summarize what we’ve been through, as this WSOPC day is coming to an end!

The Main Event Takes Off!

On this beloved Tuesday, the first flight of the €1 500 Main Event attracted 139 players, who sought to survive ten levels before qualifying for day 2 which will be played Friday. 63 players managed this feat and bagged their chips, with Finland’s Joni Rantamäki topping the list with 272 000.

Battle of the Bounty!

The €660 Mystery Bounty continued play today with 25 players. They would lose five players before being ITM. It went fairly quickly down to the final table of eight, who would all compete for the WSOPC Ring. The Mystery Envelopes were also introduced during this day, with the biggest one holding a €10 000 paycheck.

WSOPC Tallin 2023 Ranno Scootla
Ranno Sootla

After Heads Up against Japan’s Yusuke Tanaka, it was the Estonian Ranno Sootlawho took home the ring, the first-place prize of €10 000, as well as a handful of envelopes. Quite the pay day for the birthday boy!

All Night Long Eight Game Action

The €555 Eight Game tournament kicked off at 14:00, and after the late registration, a total 79 players had entered the tournament. As of right now, 43players are still in. They will play until a winner is crowned tonight or, if the final players agree, play the final table tomorrow at 21:00. Swedens Mikael “Greenbay” Grönvik is currently the chip leader.

As always, we apprieciate that you all have been following along with the live reporting during the day. We will see you tomorrow at 12:00 again, as well as some sporadic updates tonight from the Eight Game!

The second day of PokerListing’s WSOPC live coverage is coming to an end. It’s been a nice day where we’ve mainly focused on two of the three Ring Events being played today: the €350 Texas NLH, as well as the €555 Deuce to Seven Pot Limit Triple-draw. We’ve also visited the €660 Mystery Bounty from time to time. Let us take you through this monday in the Estonian capital!

Deuce to Seven – An Appreciated Feature

With Texas No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha being the two most popular poker formats currently, there is easy for some poker enthusiasts to oversee other poker disciplines. The fact that WSOPC has featured many Ring Events with lesser-known games seem to be very appreciated by everyone following the event. Yesterday, the €555 Pot Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw Event kicked off and saw 45 players competing for the WSOPC Ring. Six players advanced to the Final Table which was played today.

Despite four out of the six players at the Final Table being from Finland, it was Argentina’s Rafael Lategui who prevailed after beating Estonia’s Aleksandr Arutjunov Heads Up! Except the WSOPC Ring, Rafael also cashed €6 300.

€350 Texas NLH – Battle of the Estonians

Play commenced in the €350 Texas NLH with day 2 and 49 players. The busts were flying left and right the first hours and before we knew it we had our nine-handed final table. A funny twist was that Igor Pihela Sr., as well as his daughter in law Evely Pihela, featured in the final nine line-up.

Evely was the first contestant to say adieu, while Igor found himself Heads Up against countryman Kaor Ajamaa. After a relatively short Heads Up, it was Kaor who took home the title with his 2 2

We will do some sporadic updates from the €660 Myster Bounty tonight, and we will also update the “Results” tab with att the Ring Events played this far. Otherwise, we hope that you have enjoyed today’s live coverage, and we will see you tomorrow!

The first day from PokerListings’ live coverage from the WSOPC Tallinn is coming to an end! It’s been a great first day with lots of entertaining live poker to follow. We’ve mainly been following two final tables, and during the evening we’ll also cover the €555 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw, as well as day 1B of the €350 Texas NLH. Allow me to summarize the first day briefly!

Final Table x2

The day started at 12:00 with two final tables side by side: €555 Texas NLH and €1 100 Texas NLH, both prestigious WSOPC Ring Events

In the €555, there was a total of 382 entries which resulted in a €183 360 total prize pool. After day 2 which was played yesterday, saturday the 16th, nine players battled against each other in hunt for the WSOPC Ring.

After a couple of hours and some interesting hands, it was Viacheslav Sultanov who was crowned the winner. Except the ring, Viacheslav also took home the 1st place prize of €34 435!

At the table just a couple meters away, the final nine in the €1 100 locked horns. Finland’s Aki Pyysing came in as chip-lead and was a big favorite for many to take home the title. He would end up in third place and the Heads Up was played between Santtu Leinonen and Aleksei Smirnov, where it was Aleksi to pull the longest straw and claim the second ring during the WSOPC Tallinn!

The €350 NLH and the €555 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw

Day 1A and 1B was played today; 1A started 12:00 and 1B 16:00. The first flight had 200 entries and 13 &, i.e. 26 players, are now ITM and advanced to day 2 (which is played tomorrow 18th at 12:00).

Day 1B is still being played. Late registration closed about 30 minutes ago and the remaining 183 players will see 24 advancing to day 2.

We at PokerListings hope that you have enjoyed our live coverage, and we will see you tomorrow!

The Coolbet Open held at the Banco Casino in Bratislava was an outstanding success. The Main Event, which had a guaranteed prize pool of €300,000, attracted a significant number of participants, making it a true poker festival. Players worldwide flocked to the sunny city in Slovakia to participate in this thrilling event. Ville Hakala, hailing from Finland, was on a remarkable winning streak throughout the entire tournament, ultimately clinching the Main Event title and a substantial cash prize of €60,000.

For a detailed account of the event, you can find comprehensive coverage in our live blog section on PokerListings. Looking ahead, the Winamax Poker Open is set to commence on September 18 and will run for an entire week, concluding on September 24. Last year’s edition of the Winamax Poker Open surpassed all expectations, boasting a record-breaking 3,193 entries in the Main Event. This incredible turnout resulted in an astonishing prize pool of €977,240!

Winamax Poker Open Ready to Set New Records

Last year, the Winamax Poker Open was being held for the first time in history at the Banco Casino in Bratislava. Already from 2014, the live poker series was being held in Ireland, but after the Covid period, they decided it was time for something different. Madrid was the first trip abroad from the ‘home town’ of Dublin, Ireland. The total entries of the Main Event went through the roof, and there were a lot of expectations that in Bratislava it would become the same outcome. Eventually, 3,193 entries were made and Deividas Daubaris from Lithuania beat the whole field and collected €120,000, alongside the first prize and the honourable trophy.

Highlights WPO 2022:

Among this immense amount of entries throughout the whole event last year, there were plenty of big names who made an appearance at Banco Casino:

Names like Brian Hastings, Nacho Barbero, Davidi Kitai, Ole Schemion, Joao Vieira, Niko Koop, Guillaume Diaz, and Mustapha Kanit, all showed their faces in a tournament series where you wouldn’t necessarily expect them to be. Let’s see who will turn up this year for the Winamax Poker Open, who is mostly known of its 6-max-only tournaments.

Schedule Highlights 2023:

  • €750 Battle Royale – September 19-20
  • €500 Main Event – September 20-24
  • €300 Monster Stack – September 23-24
  • €1,000 High Roller – September 23-24
  • €200 Mystery KO – September 24

Alongside festive tournaments at the poker tables, there is plenty of action outside the tables such as beer pong, player parties, darts, and many more hospitality events. The full tournament schedule can be found at the bottom of this page.

It’s still possible to book your flights towards Bratislava. Vienna is also a decent option travel to by plane, on which you can take a shuttle bus to the lovely Banco Casino in Bratislava.

I bet we’ve all seen the livestreamed poker sessions where certain pro athletes, musicians, Hollywood stars or other celebrities have featured, and always dreamed about taking a seat at the table our self. Well, thank the lucky stars; we’ve now given a golden opportunity to play against our idols thanks to the Global Poker Celebrity Challenge!

Four Celebrities Battling It Out!

Between the 18th of September and the 13th of November, no less than four famous figures will see the cards flying over the online tables at Global Poker. This quartet will all play heads up against each other to see who can add a poker title to their already impressive resumes.

So, who are these four horsemen? It is truly an interesting line-up we’re dealing with here, folks. For starters, we have world-class music producer DJ Khaled who’s been one of the world’s most recognizable faces in the music industry since the 2010’s. The Miami-raised virtuoso will have to battle it out against Michael Phelps, the American swimmer who, with his whopping 28 (!) Olympic medals is in the discussion of being the greatest athlete of all time.

The complete the line-up, we’re treated with legendary basketball players Paul George and Karl-Anthony Towns. Paul George has marked his spot in the NBA All-star and has an Olympic gold medal and a swarm of more achievements under his belt. Towns represents the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA and has three All-Star selections under his belt. He also won the prestigious NBA Three-Point Contest during 2021-22 NBA season.

The four will face off in a series of Heads Up-matches against each other, where the winner of most matches will donate $10 000 to the charity of their choice.

Do You Want to Challenge the Elite Four?

But of course, that’s not all! The Global Poker players will also have their chance to sit around the star-spangled table. A total of four Celebrity Challenge Finals (one hosted by each of the four celebrities) will be played, and Global Poker will host eight Sweeps Coin qualifying events for each one of these. It is through these qualifiers you as a player will have the chance to secure your spot to play against these four prodigies on a 9-handed table. If you manage to defeat the celebrity and the other seven qualified players, you will earn your seat to the Global Poker Celebrity Challenge Grand Final on November 12th, competing for the first price – a unique Ferrari Race Day experience of your choice hosted in North America!

To put the cherry on the top, the four celebrities will face off in the Celebrity Challenge Grand Final on the 13th of November. Whoever wins will be crowned the Celebrity poker king, however, a total of $90 000 will be donated between the top three to charity.

The World Poker Tour is doing something unprecedented…again.

In December 2022, the World Poker Tour hosted a new WPT World Championship series in partnership with Wynn Las Vegas. It was a unique experience, complete with a WPT Prime event, livestreamed WPT Ladies Championship, and a $10K buy-in WPT Main Event with a risky $10 million guarantee. Not only did the entire series garner rave reviews, that Main Event attracted players from around the world and built a prize pool that fell just short of $30 million.

This year, the World Poker Tour is outdoing itself. Its second WPT World Championship at Wynn will offer more live poker tournaments over a longer period of time.

And the Main Event has a $40 million guarantee.

Seriously.

An Eye-Catching Announcement

Poker players had been waiting for the World Poker Tour announcement through the summer. Rumors swirled that the news was going to be big, but no one predicted that the WPT World Championship Main Event would offer such a historic guarantee of $40 million.

In all, the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas will kick off on November 29 and run through December 23.

Secure a Package Through PokerListings Vegas Series

There are a number of ways to qualify to Vegas but one we really recommend is our PokerListings Vegas Series which is a leaderboard series we have in collaboration with WPT Global where the winner will be rewarded with a WPT World Championship package worth $12,400.

Make sure to check out the page linked above for further information in regard to all the dates, leaderboard standings, and the release of the grand final date.

The WPT Prime Championship final table will take place (and be filmed) on December 19, the WPT Big One for One Drop will receive the same treatment on December 20, and the Main Event will happen under the bright lights of a TV final table on December 21.

The full schedule is available via Wynn, as is the detailed structure sheet for the Main Event.

That schedule details the 10 live satellites to the WPT World Championship Main Event, as well as the events that will discount entry fees for those who register before start times.

WPT CEO Adam Pliska said that the 2023 festival “is poised to reach new heights, and we wanted to match that expectation with a guarantee that no live poker tournament has ever seen before.”

Ryan Beauregard, Wynn Las Vegas Executive Director of Poker Operations, noted that this year’s festival is built on overwhelmingly positive feedback from last year’s inaugural series. “The astonishing support and excitement we’ve seen from the poker community after just one year is nothing like I’ve seen before.” That creates high expectations for this year, one which Beauregard appears confident they will meet.

According to the World Poker Tour, poker players and fans can expect additional announcements.

The UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) kicked off this year with the Irish Open back in April, and since then, the UKIPT train has kept on rolling, and the most recent station was Brighton. Running between the 5th and 10th of September, the event culminated with the Main Event. The £1 100 tournament attracted 532 entries which meant a £337 920 prize pool. When all was said and done, it was Benjamin “Spraggy” Spragg who could lift the trophy!

A £69 120 Prize Check

After Day 2 saw three final table players bust, only six poker players would return to fight for the title the next day. Spraggy, who may be most known for his streaming career over on Twitch.tv, entered day 3 with fifth most in chips. Despite this, he managed his stack well and suddenly found himself heads up against Germany’s Dominik Nitsche. After eliminating a short-stacked Nitsche’s K J with 10 3 , an emotional Spraggy got his hands on the trophy and the £69 120 prize check.

“I’m Just a Poker Pro”

The pro Spraggy, who’s a part of the PokerStars Team, was emotional after claiming his first major live title. Even though a lot was at stakes, the award-winning streamer didn’t experience the final table-atmosphere too tense:

“I’m genuinely really emotional. I didn’t think I would be because there was such a good atmosphere at the final table, it didn’t feel like a final table.”

The familiar faces among the final six could explain the relaxed yet intense feeling filling the Rendezvous Casino. For example, football YouTuber and podcaster Adam McKola featured, who is a good friend of Spraggy. McKola’s third place finish for £30 110 should be honored, considering the United Kingdom resident first learned poker just two years ago. He was also on the wrong side of what maybe was the tournaments worst bad beat, running into countryman Sebastian Gohr’s quads with his full house right at the end of Day 2.

Spraggy is for sure known to the greater part of the poker community as an online poker player, but adding the Brighton title to his resume, he now feels like he is a force to be reckon with on the live scene as well:

“I no longer feel like an online guy who plays a bit of live. I’m just a poker pro.”

London Calling!

With Spraggy claiming the Brighton trophy, the UKIPT is now heading to London! The festival will run between September 19th-24th, with the Main Event being played between 21st and 24th. The Hippodrome Casino will act host, and it surely will be exciting to see who claims the next UKIPT Main Event trophy!

This year’s edition of one of the greatest live poker events ever will not disappoint, and now you have the golden opportunity to qualify to the Las Vegas Series through PokerListings and WPT Global!

Talking about online poker, PokerStars surely needs no introduction. Having been one of the absolute biggest sites since its launch back in 2001, the site has made its permanent mark in poker history, and they do not intend to slow down the pace. PokerStars are now partnering up with the BillyChip Foundation, a partnership that surely will contribute to society!

What Is the BillyChip Foundation?

BillyChip was founded 2018 to honor the memory of Billy Abernethy-Hope. Billy was a Bristol-native ambulance driver who always had a big heart and many creative ideas on how to make the living situation of the homeless, poor and rough sleepers better. Billy tragically passed away only 20 years old in a motorcycle accident, but his dad Jon is driven in making Billy’s vision true through the BillyChip Foundation.

So, what do the foundation do? Billy kept hearing “if I give money to homeless people, they will only use it for drugs or alcohol”. In order to avoid this scenario, Billy came up with the idea of the BillyChip. At outlets participating in the BillyChip mission, you can buy a BillyChip for £2, and these chips can then be given to homeless, who can exchange chips for foods and/or beverages in affiliated BillyChip outlets.

PokerStars Joins the Mission!

Most definitely a heartwarming mission that the BillyChip foundation has initiated, and now PokerStars are joining in. Over a two-year period, PokerStars is supporting the charity with £100 000.

Also, during the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour, a live charity live poker tournament will be played at the Hippodrome Casino in London! The Texas No Limit Hold’em tournament, which takes place the 20th of September, has a £220 Buy-in, with £50 being donated to the BillyChip Foundation. Playing poker while doing a good thing for society: can it get any better?!

PokerStars, which nowadays is owned by Flutter, has developed consistently with society throughout the years, and since a while back, they have a international Corporate Social Responsibility department. CSR-Head Sue Hammett shares the organization’s joy about the BillyChip partnership:

‘PokerStars is delighted to be supporting BillyChip for the next two years. The impact this inspiring charity has on people who are homeless will always be Billy’s Legacy and we are proud to be part of their journey. Our work with them will help us achieve Flutter’s goal of improving the lives of 10 million people by 2030.’
