Fortune Wheel Spin to Win

The partypoker Grand Prix with a reasonable buy-in of €550, and a guaranteed prize pool of an epic €1,000,000 would come to an end on Day 4 of the Main Event. Nine players came back to Portomaso Casino to try and take this coveted title back home. Like the whole live poker tournament, the Italians were strongly dominating in terms of the number of entrants.

For most of the tournament play and the PokerListings live blog, they were highly present as well. But to take down the title, they had to deal with players from Cyprus, Argentina, and Finland. Eros Nastasi was in the lead when we kicked off the penultimate day, where one player had to bust before we could start with the official final table. PokerListings had been present all week and was a witness of the great apotheose that the day would bring. The live stream would also be prepared once again, so family, friends, and other poker fanatics could enjoy all the action from their own heroes.

Borghetti Cannot Overcome Disappointment the Previous Day

Luciano Borghetti, who already has ten years of experience with live tournament poker, got extremely unlucky in the last hand of the previous day, where he was obliged to make the call pre-flop due to a moment where seemed to want to open up the action with a raise, but was ruled to be a call only. Due to this, the big blind was able to join the ride for free and became fortunate with hit three-of-a-kind preflop.

While Borghetti had made top-pair on the river, the action went out of hand and had to give away most of his chips. On the final day, he couldn’t turn it around and finished in 9th place by a classic coinflip with his Queens against the Ace-King of Massimiliano Ferro. Time to say ‘Ciao’, before the final table would be prepared to be streamed live on Twitch and Youtube.

Eros Nastasi Uprising

With over half a million in career earnings, and being well-known in the Italian poker circuit, everyone knew from the get-go that Nastasi would be the one to look out for. From the end of Day 2 onwards, we have seen him applying tons of pressure and getting himself into situations where he would just leave every opponent gobsmacked, by always having the best of it. At the final table, he would be involved in the most deciding pot of the tournament, busting Juusto Keskitola:

‘’Nastasi opened the action and raised it up to 900,000. Keskitola found a monster hand and made a 3-bet to 2,700,000. Nastasi didn’t think for a bit how he would want to approach this situation, before announcing the 4-bet to 4,400,000. Keskitola was for the rough decision and shoved all-in and got an Insta call from Nastasi. Two massive stacks colliding with each other!

Nastasi: K K

Keskitalo: A K

The board ran out J 8 3 , and the 9 on the turn, and the 6 completed the board. Juuso is out!’’

partypoker Grand Prix Malta 2023: Juusto Keskitola
Juusto Keskitola

Nastasi would possess almost half of the chips in play at that point, with six players remaining in the contest, as prior to this key hand, the most fearsome player of them all, Andrea Benelli, would have to leave the stage when his pocket 10’s were not able to win from the pocket Queens of Favaloro.

Benelli is known for his 4th place finishes in the EPT Main Events of Deauville and San-Remo, where Victoria Cohen won the EPT title as the first female player ever, but couldn’t give those results a continuation.

In 7th place, good for another personal high score, it was fans’ favourite Juusto Keskitola who hit the rail. For a little less than a year, he has been playing most of the grand events of Malta, but never made it further as a casual min-cash. His rail, consisting of fellow Maltese residents and icons such as Clint Sammut, all felt the pain after having to leave the final table in pure disillusion. After he had calmed down from the disappointment, he mentioned to us that he really felt comfortable at the table and was feeling he had an edge on the remaining felt. Driven by his experience in home/online, and cash games, he hoped to finish the job in this unique position. We will have a more detailed interview with him post-mortem.

Italian Party is Over

With Borghetti (9th), Benelli (8th), Ritrovato (5th), and Ferro (4th) having left the tournament. It was Argentinian poker live blogger Jacques Blit who would take charge of the tournament. After winning a massive all-in against Nastasi, where he flopped the nuts and Nastasi’s bottom two-pair, he was simply unstoppable. When Nastasi, the previous reigning chip leader, went out in 3rd place, it was one-way traffic all the way towards the Argentinian. Not once he would find himself in trouble at the whole final table where he needed to chase cards to be able to win a pot and with Marcello Favaloro as the heads-up opponent, he was in an ideal situation to take home yet another trophy for the Argentinians. Favaloro, who just like any other Italian poker player is very passionate , showed a couple of unorthodox moves during the tournament but managed to play himself easily towards the final battle of the tournament.

partypoker Grand Prix Malta 2023: Andrea Benelli
Andrea Benelli

In less than an hour, the heads-up play would end, when Favaloro tried to make a hero call but failed in doing as Jacques Blit had the goods:

‘’With the blinds on 800k/1600k, and Favaloro looking up against a 3:1 disadvantage in chips, Blit opened up the action and Favaloro decided to make the call. With the flop coming 2 Q 4 , it was Blit who led the action once again with a raise, which got called as well by Favaloro. The 8 on the turn made Blit fire again and again got called by the Italian. The 7 on the river was the sign for Blit to go All-In on the river to try and finish the heads-up match, Favaloro thought for a while and then made the hero call, which didn’t turn out well as Blit had a nice top-pair, top-kicker.

Blit showed the winning hand in the showdown with A Q , while Favaloro only could show J 2 for a missed flush draw and bottom-pair.’’

It would mean the end of a fantastic poker series, organized by partypoker and Portomaso Casino, powered by Hydra Entertainment. Another great homage to poker on the island of Malta, which got flooded by Italians the past week, but eventually left with complete agony, as they couldn’t finish the job.

We want to make use of this article, to thank all the readers of the live blog, recap articles, and the players on location who took time and patience to provide feedback out the tournament. From PokerListings’ perspective, a big thank you to all of you, and a huge congratulations to Jacques Blit from Argentina, who takes home a massive first prize and the coveted partypoker trophy by winning the Grand Prix Malta! We will fly to yet another destination in Europe for another great game of poker!

Would you like to review the whole final table? Check out the stream on the YouTube channel of partypoker, where Matt Staples is providing his take on the gameplay throughout the conclusion of the Grand Prix Malta 2023:

A total of 67 players were to return for Day 3 of the Grand Prix Malta here at Portomaso Casino, powered by partypoker LIVE. Everyone already secured themselves a min-cash and were all ready to hunt for the glorious first prize of €144,000. An amazing first prize, thanks to the prize pool which surpassed the €1M mark. We were fully prepared again for yet another long day at the office, where the players would start their live poker grind from 16:00 CET local time. In the poker room on the ground floor, the always professional Portomaso Casino staff made sure that the area for the Grand Prix event was not accessible for players to come to watch directly near the tables.

Set names in the poker community such as Adam Owen, Andrea Benelli, and Nastasi Eros would all try and find compatible stacks to apply plenty of pressure to the remaining field. There would be also the conclusion of the €1,100 Mystery Bounty and a couple of other side events such as 8-Game and the live version of the online poker tournamentThe Predator.

Day 3 Grand Prix

Due to the great structure in terms of days of poker here in Malta, we would have a total of four days full of poker at the partypoker Grand Prix event. Of course, the opening flights were multiple days, but throughout the second day, into day three, it would all go very smoothly. The remaining 67 players were all focused on trying to reach the final day of the event, and to have a clear shot at the glorious title of this Grand Prix event and the €144,000 that comes with it. Nine players would remain in the contest for the final day, of which the last eight would eventually reach the official final table. It will all be streamed with a delay of 30 minutes on various channels, and we are live blogging until the very end with our PokerListings live blog. Make sure to tune in on our website to not miss any of the action!

Adam Owen was perhaps the most fearsome player left in the field of 67 remaining players. Even though he has quite some resume build up through his poker career, it is definitely not a given fact that he would be here just to win the event like it was nothing. We already saw many big names biting the dust throughout the event. Names such as Luca Pagano would not make it far into the tournament. Speaking of which, Italians are dominating this whole event from top to bottom, and throughout Day 3 it would be no different.

partypoker MILLIONS 2023 Grand Prix: Eros Nastasi – Chip Leader final nine
Eros Nastasi – Chip Leader final nine

Eros Nastasi tops the remaining pack of players at the end of the gameplay, having shown true poker skills throughout the whole day. Not once he was at risk for his whole tournament life, and he chose very calculated all the right spots to chip up. Juuso Keskitalo, a friendly giant from Finland, and mainly a cash game and online player, also made it through to the final nine players. The Fin, who resides in Malta, created a great spot to get his name in the history books here at Portomaso Casino, and for sure the enthusiastic Maltese poker fans will be chanting his name throughout the final day of the event.

Adam Owen, which we followed closely during the days, just didn’t make it till the end. Going out in absolute fashion when his A K was not good against the A 6 of his opponent. The board would run out with five clubs, leaving him a single outer on the river with the 9 for a straight flush. Unfortunately, that didn’t appear, so we lost him just prior to the end of the day.

Italian Passion

All week long, the Italian poker players were highly present in the tournament. Just like with football, the Italian culture pops up at the poker tables as well. They just have this tiny bit more passion than others, which resulted in a lot of encouraging shouting at the tables when they won a hand, and the visible disappointment when they dropped out of the tournament. Luciano Borghetti came in tough spot in the last hand, where he doubled up Salvatore Ritrovato. Ritrovato, another player who is as furniture here at the poker rooms in Malta, was immersed with luck as Borghetti was forced to call the big blind pre-flop due to a handling matter when he placed a couple of chips over the line while playing with his chips. Borghetti lost half of his stack due to this error, but he is still in the mix for the apotheose of this Grand Prix event.

We got informed that three of the nine remaining players are from Messina in Italy. A big rail is expected for the final table, and when you are following the stream, you might often hear the passion of the Italians for the sport that poker is.

If you want to relive Day 3 of the event, make sure to check out the PokerListings live blog from Day 2. It gives you some great insights into the event and will ramp up to the moment supreme, which kicks off today at 14:00 CET local time. With the live blog, we will take note of the delay of the live stream as well, so all poker action in the blog will be with a delay of 30 minutes compared to the real time.

And so, we enter the month of October. Even though the days might be feeling shorter and that the sun doesn’t shine as bright as it did a couple of weeks ago, there is still a lot of fun to be had at the poker tables. We don’t have to look for long in the search of some interesting action, considering Unibet are coming at us with three interesting Unibet poker promotions.

HexaPro Daily Races

During the period between 13th of September and the 2nd of November – making this the longest promotion the site has ever had – the HexaPro Daily Races are running on Unibet! HexaPro’s, which are Unibets three-handed hyper-turbo Sit N’ Go’s, is an appreciated feature on their poker client. Now the daily races are back, meaning that you will earn points for the daily leaderboards. Every day, €1 000 are added to the leaderboards: make sure to collect a lot of points in order to take your share of the added value.

There are three different daily leaderboards each day corresponding to three different tiers: high-, mid- and low stakes. Also worth mentioning is that “Happy Hours” are running from 12:00-14:00 and 23:00-01:00 every day – during these times, you earn double the points!

IPO Online Qualifiers

Considering we are mere weeks away from the International Poker Open (IPO) in Dublin, it is about time we reveal Unibet’s second October promotion: the IPO Qualifiers! Unibet and IPO has brought all the players, through their wonderful collaboration, the opportunity to qualify for the €350 IPO Main Event. The live poker tournament will be played at the Bonnington Hotel Conference Centre in Dublin, the 25th-30th of October.

So, how do you qualify for the IPO through Unibet? Every Sunday, weekly finals (direct satellites) are played 20:00 CEST. The weekly finals have a €50 buy-in, and no less than five Main Events seats are guaranteed. You can also sub-satellite into the direct satellites for as little as €0,4.

There’s also the opportunity to play a start flight for the IPO Main Event online on Unibet. The flight, 1A, will be played the 22nd of October, and the survivors will move on to day 2, which will be played live in Dublin the 30th.

Unibet Open

The third and final Unibet promotion of October 2023 is the Unibet Open qualifiers. The popular Unibet Open will make its comeback running from November 29th to December 3rd, and will be played in Bucharest, Rumania. The Main Event has a €1 100 buy-in, but through the online qualifiers, you will compete for €2 000 packages, including a four-night hotel stay, breakfast and dinner, access to the official player’s welcome party, a $250 to help with travel expenses and of course, the Main Event buy-in.

Unibet Open 2023

The weekly final qualifiers are played on the Unibet client every Sunday at 20:00 GMT+2. The buy-in is €250 and three €2 000 Packages are guaranteed. Similar to the IPO, Unibet of course offers the opportunity to sub-satellite into the Unibet Open final qualifiers (for as little as €1). To sweeten the deal: Unibet will run a €1 Phase tournament between September 29th-October 15th which will have one €2 000 package guaranteed.

So whether you want to dominate the HexaPro daily leaderboards or qualify for the live poker adventures of your dream, Unibet surely has something that’ll tickle your fancy. Good luck to all the Unibet players during October!

It is October 1st, 2023. The partypoker Grand Prix event with a guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000 would have its second day of the live poker tournament, but not before Day 1H was being played out prior to that. From the early hours, it was possible for players to try for the last time to build up a stack. Day 2 was scheduled for 19:00 CET but had to be shortly delayed as the last opening flight was a great success. With 290 entries on the list, the guaranteed prize pool would be surpassed with just €11,000!

The structure made it happen that the end of the opening flight would have a real apotheose. The fact that 15% would remain, and taking into account that players would be in the money when reaching that goal, made it all look a bit unusual. The final blind level would be so huge, that the roll-back of the blind levels for day 2, was extraordinary. Luca Pagano, a living poker legend from Italy, came to have a cheeky look at the remaining field of 339 players as well. PokerListings was present, providing players and their friends, families, and companions, with the partypoker MILLIONS live blog

Start in the Early Hours

Cards were in the air from 11:00 CET onwards here at the lovely Portomaso Casino in St. Julians, Malta. Guided by the pure excellence of its staff, partypoker representatives, and dealers of Ludo’s Acadamy, players could once again enjoy the game of poker to all their expectations. A total of 290 entries were made in the penultimate opening flight of the partypoker Grand Prix event.

partypoker Grand Prix Malta 1M GTD – Day 2

Many players already qualified for the second day of the tournament, but 44 players were to be added with this last flight. It would turn out to be a wonderful show, which felt like a hyper turbo at the end, where players would do anything to survive. Take Michele Chite for example, who had left 2,000 chips to play with. Fausto Tantillo on the other hand, would become the overall chip leader with 1,498,000 chips. Day 2 would have a blind level rolled back to 3,000/6,000/6,000.

Day 2 to Start With 339 Remaining Players

Players from all opening flights of this week, together with the players who qualified through earlier online flights, came together on Day 2 here in Malta. The main poker room of Portomaso Casino was almost completely filled up, and it would become a real homage to the game of poker. Many players would surprise friends and enemies, by showcasing true determination to succeed.

Michele Chite had no hopes for playing for a long time, but eventually kept it going for four hours of play, finishing as 209th in the tournament. Fausto Tantillo and Massimiliano Ferro colluded several times with each other throughout the tournament as they were for a long time at the same table positioned, resulting in top-3 stacks for both. Argentinian Jacques Blit, who had been a familiar face at the poker tables this week, also remained in the top 10 of the chip counts throughout the day.

partypoker Grand Prix Malta 1M GTD – Day 2

Seasoned poker professionals such as Alessio Isaia, Eran Boren, and Dario Barone, started with reasonable chip counts but did not all manage to be one of the remaining players of this day. Adam Owen did make it through, being at the top of the chip counts. The expectations are set high for him on Day 3. The same counts for local hero Mark Vella, who yet made another great run in a grand event. Head of Poker from PokerListings, Mauritz Altikardes, also saw with his own eyes how cruel the game can become sometimes by losing with Queens versus Jacks left the room in 148th place.

Play would end around 3:30 in the night, and 67 players would be remaining for a shot at one of the most prestigious titles in Maltese poker history. All eyes are set on the grand first prize of € 144,000, where all players are locked up € 2,500 already. Make sure to follow the live blog, provided to you by PokerListings, and keep an eye on our social media channels as well for exclusive insights!

The Eureka Poker Tour by PokerStars seems to be an appreciated feature in the live poker schedule for players all across the globe. The circuit had its first stop for the year in Rozvadov back in March, and in September it was time to head over to Hamburg for stop number two in 2023.

During the eight-day festival – which is still going on – three live poker tournaments will be played: Eureka Main Event, Eureka High Roller, and Eureka Cup. The last one is the only one which has already finished, seeing a Dane taking home the trophy!

First Title for Brian

Denmark’s Brian Klindrup was one out of the 609 unique players to participate in the Eureka Cup in Hamburg. Prior to the event, Klindrup had no more than five results on his Hendon Mob, the most impressive one being a second place finish in Bratislava during a Cyprus Series of Poker event.

Klindrup entered day 1A of the event and after a hard day’s work, he could bag 553 000 chips and ascertain that he was at the top of the chip leaderboard. He, together with 90 other players, returned to day 2, all players guaranteed a chunk of the €173 565 prize pool. The Horsens-resident bullied his opponents well with his big stack, and his strategy took him all the way to the final table.

Deal on the Final Table

The nine players arrive to the final table chasing the trophy. Considering seven of them where from Germany, the odds were fairly good for the Eureka Hamburg Cup trophy to see a home owner. It would be up to Klindrup as well as Poland’s Sam Cichy, if the trophy would come to leave Germany.

Four of the final table players fell, and remaining in the field were five players, all apparently eager to secure as much money as possible. Such, they decided to do a five-way deal, not anything you see too often on the live poker scene. After the deal was made, play commenced with a little extra euro’s on top for the winner, as well as, of course, the trophy and eternal glory. Eventually, Klindrup had conquered the remaining for players and could reach his arms up to the sky – he won the Eureka Hamburg Cup and secured €23 310!

Euro Hamburg Cup Final Table Payouts:

1. Brian Klindrup*€23 310
2. Deniz Goek*€18 915
3. Andreas Smirnow*€18 825
4. Gunther Sanders*€14 985
5. Marius Fritz*€14 450
6. Dominik Czernek€6 870
7. Sam Cichy€5 290
8. Jure Jepsen€4 060
9. Joshua Rabe€3 120

*The five players made a deal.

Next Stop: Cyprus

Even though the Eureka Hamburg Cup is finished, the Main Event as well as the High Roller will finish on October 3rd. After Hamburg bids farewell to the Eureka tour, the festival will have its next stop on Cyprus, October 12th-16th. Just like in Hamburg, a Main Event, a High Roller and an Eureka Cup event will be played. Good luck to all players competing on the Eureka Poker Tour!

We’ve had quite the share of fairytale-like stories through the years in the poker community. Some of the most recognizable ones are Chris Moneymaker’s amazing WSOP run 2003, the incredible story of legend Doyle Brunson…this list surely could be made much, much longer.

Another fascinating tale is the journey of Maria Konnikova. The author/journalist decided a few years back to tackle the poker world and has since then become a prodigy in the community. Just a couple of days ago, it became public information that Maria now is returning to PokerStars as an ambassador in North America!

The Story of Maria Konnikova

The Russian born Maria moved to the United States together with her parents when she was four years old. Growing up, Maria was always a fan of the written word and had written both a book and a play before finishing fourth grade.

Maria grew up to become a well-recognized author and journalist. It was back in the late 2010’s that she decided to play on the live poker circuit for a year, with the intention of writing a book about the experience. Maria was lured by the game theory aspect of the game and reached out to poker legend Erik Seidel for coaching. 2020, her mission had been accomplished as she released her New York Times best seller “The Biggest Bluff”. On top of that, she became a poker tournament champion (after becoming the first woman to win a PokerStars Platinum Pass back in 2018 during the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure) and has acquired more than $450 000 in career earnings. The fact that Maria just decided to do this and to not only get a book published about it, but also delivering quite the good result, is an incredible feat.

Once Again a PokerStars Ambassador

But of course, Maria is not your ordinary human being. She has a unique way of describing the poker phenomenon, and there is no surprise she is a much respected journalist/author. Last week, PokerStars could proudly announce the return of Maria as an ambassador of the world-renowned online poker site. She represented PokerStars as an ambassador back in 2018 and will once again wear the red-and-white logo on her sleeves.

The vice president of PokerStars North American, Steve Preiss, were happy to express his joy about Maria’s return to the ambassador team:

“Maria’s ability to communicate the virtues of poker is unrivalled. She will be integral in our goal of expanding the game to new audiences.”

Maria herself is also thrilled to be back to the poker community in form of a PokerStars ambassador:

“I’m very happy to once again be joining the PokerStars team as an ambassador. Poker is a game of skill that can teach us so much about our minds and ourselves – and I can’t wait to share my passion for it along with the incredible team at PokerStars. I’m quite excited for the vision that PokerStars has for U.S. expansion and am thrilled to play a small part in helping the world appreciate the true beauty and promise of a game I have come to love.”

The next opportunity people will have running into Maria is during the North American Poker Tour in November, where she will be attending the USCOOP and Ten-Deuce freeroll in the capacity of not only a player, but also once again, a PokerStars ambassador.

One of the things we love most about poker, is that it brings us the opportunity to experience the world while doing something that we love. It is much thanks to the online poker scene and the endless supply of satellites and qualification tournaments, that poker players can compete for a seat at their dream table.

Today, Road to Paradise starts over at GGPoker, which offers the opportunity for players to qualify for what surely will be a poker experience of a lifetime – the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise.

Get Your Seat to Bahamas

WSOP Paradise is the most recent event from the WSOP crew, and considering where the festival will be held, there is no doubt that the event will be something to remember for years and years to come. WSOP Paradise will be held at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas this December. Could there possibly be a better way to escape the snowy and dull winter?

GGPoker WSOP Paradise Bahamas 2023

So, how do you qualify? It is once again thanks to GGPoker that players now have the golden opportunity to secure their spot for the $5 300 Main Event during WSOP Paradise. Except the mentioned buy-in, all packages that you can win on GGPoker also includes a ten-night stay at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort. A daily lunch buffet is also included in the package for all lucky winners. As you can hear, competing in the WSOP Paradise most certainly would be a poker-in-paradise experience.

It is today, October 1st, that the Road to Paradise series kicks off over at GGPoker. US players will also have the opportunity to acquire their WSOP Paradise seat via WSOP.COM, where satellites already are up and running.

OnLive Events

But that’s not all, folks! GGPoker will also host online poker tournaments together with WSOP Paradise. If you’ve not heard about online events before: they are basically a mix between online- and live events, where you play day 1 of the tournament online at GGPoker, and if you qualify, you will be sent to the Bahamas to play day 2 and onwards. Of course, players are guaranteed to be ITM after day 1 online, so that they do not fly down to the Bahamas for nothing. Speaking of traveling, hotel, travel and accommodations are of course calculated in to the online prize pool, so there will be no surprise costs for the qualifier.

The former mentioned WSOP Paradise $5 300 Main Event is not the only OnLive event over at GGPoker. There is also the $1 650 Mystery Millions with a $5 000 000 GTD, as well as the $26 000 GGMillion$ with a 10 000 000 GTD.

Yes, WSOP Paradise is something that you surely do not want to miss out on, and thanks to GGPoker, you now have the opportunity to qualify for the poker event of your dreams through the Road to Paradise series. GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu stated “It’s not just a poker event – it’s a dream vacation, and I can’t wait to see who will emerge as the lucky winners”.

Good luck to all players competing in the Road to Paradise, and remember to have fun at the tables!

The Grand Prix event would get its big opening flights on Day 1F and 1G. The expectation would be just above 300 players, and with 1F ending on 308 entries, and 1G ending on 352 entries, that expectation became a reality. Among these entries, there were some big names in the mix such as all-time Italian poker legend Luca Pagano. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it until the end of the day, but perhaps he will try again on the last opening flight tomorrow.

The last flight, starting on 11:00 CET early in the morning, has got 20-minute blinds and will finish just prior to Day 2, which starts at 19:00 CET. Within that time frame, the MILLIONS event will play down from 16 remaining players to a winner.

During that day, we are going to try and catch up with one of these remaining players, Matt Staples, who is here with partypoker as a Team Pro. With over €400,000 in the prize pool and a first prize of €93,000, all eyes are set on who will become the new MILLIONS Malta Champion

Grand Prix Day 1F

Our main focus was on Day 1F, and after a slow start, it would end with a true bang! A total of 308 entries were made throughout the first ten levels of play. Our online qualifier Asif ‘PokerTourist’ Warris, who won the satellite organized by PokerListings in collaboration with partypoker earlier this month, tried his luck on this flight.

Unfortunately for him, he would get knocked out in the early stages when he was all-in and at risk with A 10 and had hit the flush- and straight draw on the flop. He bricked the turn and river, so all his chips went to his opponent who had pocket Queens.

When we got to know that All-time Italian poker legend Luca Pagano was playing during the 1F opening flight, he unfortunately immediately busted out of the tournament just when we wanted to check where he was seated. Hopefully, he will give acte de presence in some more tournaments here during the partypoker Millions Malta, so we can enjoy his elegant playing style like in the old days.

Imagine, the final tabling of so many European Poker Tours, of which 3 in one year including the grand final in Monaco. A true star of the game. With many of his fellow countrymen at this event, the chance of having an Italian victor in this event is extremely alive.

partypoker MILLIONS Malta 2023 Grand Prix

Day 1F eventually would last until blind level 15, where the bubble burst in great fashion. It was Valter Miceli who had opened up the action from the button with 4 6 , and Charalampos Televantou was practically all-in on the big blind with just a couple of chips behind.

He was at risk, holding [Qx][7x], but had high hopes when he saw where he was up against. The dealer, however, decided differently, showing 6 6 6 on the flop. It was an immediate goodbye to the player from Cyprus, who was the last player not receiving a minimum cash on this flight.

Grand Prix Day 1G

In the main poker room at Portomaso Casino, the evening flight of the Grand Prix Day 1G, would attract a stunning 354 entries. This was good news for the casino and partypoker, as the guarantee would not be far off any longer.

With one more opening flight on Saturday, just prior to Day 2, it is almost sure the guarantee will be reached and the prize pool will start rising to higher grounds. We did not blog this event, but we want to definitely share with you the overall chip counts of the remaining players of this opening flight.

€3,000 Millions Malta event down to 16 players

partypoker MILLIONS Malta Grand Prix 2023

The second day of the Millions High Roller event would start eventually with 92 players, as several players decided to late register just prior to the start. They still would have plenty of space to build up some stacks, as they would enter the tournament with more than 30 big blinds. Taco De Goede was one of them, securing himself from an eventual min-cash.

The top prize of €93,000 is promising for lots of high-level poker action, and hopefully, Matt Staples will be able to battle through the remaining 16 players.

The event will be live-streamed on Sunday, so make sure to turn on your mobile device or laptop to follow all the action!

It would be the first day of this partypoker Millions series, where the cards would go in the air at 12:00 CET. The Italians came in big numbers to Portomaso Casino, where Day 1d of the Grand Prix would eventually have 208 entries, of which 31 players would proceed to Day 2. Another flight, Day 1e, kicked off at 18:00 CET, giving players an option to register for any of these tournaments for a minimum of 12 hours straight.

The second and last flight of the € 3,000 Millions High Roller also was part of the schedule, starting at 21:00 CET. The assumption was that many online regulars who reside in Malta would come down to play some live poker, and it worked out pretty well. Tomorrow the second day is planned for the Millions event, which has been rescheduled to 17:00 CET, so that players would not end up playing late in the night time.

Grand Prix Day 1d

Straight from the start, you could see that Italy was presented with a huge amount of players. ‘The Italian Grind’ was real and ended up with a total of 208 entries. 31 Of them would go through to the next day, and would already lock up a min cash.

Plenty of recognizable names would be in the mix such as Michel Molenaar, Alessio Isaia, and local hero Mark Vella. The day kicked off at noon and took eventually around eleven hours of play until the end of this starting flight would be concluded.

Grand Prix Day 1e

As you can read in the liveblog, we were not present at the starting flight Day 1e. What we do know is that there were 180 entries made, and it would be once again an Italian party. Andrea D’Elia topped the field and put himself at the top of the chip counts for Day 2. It would be a long day for the players, as the flight kicked off at 18:00 CET. By the end, they were playing the blind level 6,000/12,000/12,000, which was mostly the last level of the opening flight throughout the previous flights as well.

Today, however, they can rest up and enjoy the weather in sunny Malta. Day 2 will be played out on Sunday. There are three more opening flights on the schedule, which we will blog live here at PokerListings.

Millions High Roller

The Millions High Roller knew its second and last starting flight today, which promised to be a huge success when talking about the number of entries. With 47 entries done on Day 1a, it could only get better on the second opening day. It would rise up high, as a stunning 74 players will come back today for Day 2 of the Millions event.

A fantastic number of entries for a High Roller event here in Malta, giving a massive payout to the winner of the tournament and perhaps one of the most prestigious partypoker trophies. Players will resume the tournament at 17:00 today. We will share the chip counts with you in today’s live blog.

We write Thursday 28th of September, where day 1c of the € 1M guaranteed Grand Prix event was on the schedule. Eventually, 151 entries were added to the 430 entries done on days 1a and 1b, bringing the total of the live opening flights to 581. Eventually, Italian player Daniel Montagnolli (1,063,000) bagged most of the chips at the end of the day, followed by Israeli player Eran Cohen (763,000).

Only 15% of the field was about to get qualified for the second day of the event, so players could expect a long day of live poker ahead. For the high-roller players in Europe and beyond, busy times are approaching with online events going on all over the place, but here at the partypoker MILLIONS they would have their chance to shine as well with the Hydra High Roller being played out to a winner. Registration was still open until the start of the second day of that event, and a handful of players including Dzmitry Urbanovich made use of that option. Teun Mulder from The Netherlands had taken the chip lead after the first day, being one of the players here in Malta with astonishing results throughout his career.

Grand Prix Day 1c

Where the first two opening flights were discounted for a buy-in of € 400 instead of the usual € 550, day 1c could be considered the first real opening flight of this event. With an amazing prize pool of € 1M, players worldwide would want to be part of it as it is one of the biggest valued tournaments in this category. 151 of these players, found their way to Portomaso Casino for day 1c and were all aiming to bag and tag their chips by the end of the day.

Amongst these players, we got interesting names passing by such as the founder of the Malta Poker Festival; Ivonne Montealegre. Another grand name in the mix, Dario Barone, who had won the Battle of Malta earlier this year, was trying to build himself momentum on this day for yet another great run in a Main Event. One name which we didn’t particularly expect here, was Adam Owen. Mainly because of his speciality being mixed games of course.

partypoker MILLIONS Malta 2023 Adam Owen

Austrian Daniel Montagnolli had one of the runs that all players are hoping for throughout a poker tournament, resulting in the chip lead of day 1c. Halfway through the day, it didn’t look like that, especially when his Kings could not with from King-Queen, bringing the board eventually a split pot.

Hydra High Roller

One of the High Roller events here at the partypoker MILLIONS was the € 5,300 Hydra High Roller event, which attracted 40 players on the first day of the event. With late registration open until the start of Day 2, another 4 players would be added to the list, all looking to capture the first prize of € 72,864.

Only six players would make it to the money, and chip leader Teun Mulder was in for two bullets already. Throughout the whole day, another Dutchman, Michel Molenaar, would find himself at the top of the chip counts. Bart Lybaert, perhaps one of the best-known players of Belgium, also came down to Malta to show his skills at the tables, and eventually would overpower all of them to take home this glorious event, defeating Molenaar heads-up.

The gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas, will never stop hosting great events. Countless live poker tournaments, shows, and other entertaining gatherings have chosen Nevada’s Golden Nugget as their base camp throughout the years, and to not refer to Las Vegas as a legendary nest for gamblers and players would be a wrongful statement.

In just a couple of months, Las Vegas will once again open its arms and welcome the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) – which will make its first appearance in twelve years! NAPT will surely be one of the poker highlights of 2023, and it gets better: you now have a chance to win a $20 300 package to the NAPT through PokerStars!

Talking about online poker series, it’s impossible not to mention World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The 2023 edition of the series is the 22nd in its history, making WCOOP the world’s oldest, biggest, and arguable the most prestigious poker tournaments of all time.

The series has been running on PokerStars since the 10th of September, and there is still one week remaining before WCOOP concludes its 2023 visit on October 4th. With a lot of action-filled poker yet to be played, let us dive deep into the WCOOP and see what has happened during the series so far, as well as what we have to look forward to.

Tonkaaaa Wins Big

It shouldn’t come as news to many that the WCOOP schedule is filled to the brim with tournaments across all games, formats and buy-ins. One of the most highlighted happenings during the series so far, is Parker “tonkaaaa” Talbot’s win in the $10 300 No-Limit Hold’em Super Tuesday High Roller, which was played Tuesday 12th. It was indeed an impressive feat for the Team PokerStars represent to conquer the field of 55 players. A total 24 re-entries were made in the tournament which made the total prize pool had culminated to a whopping $790 000.

Parker “tonkaaaa” Talbot

For his win, Tonkaaaa received a $213 228 prize check, his third biggest cash. He can now also title himself as a WCOOP winner!

Perrymejsen’s Legendary Week

But Tonkaaaa is not the only one who has delivered good WCOOP results so far! During the series so far, Sweden’s Jerry “Perrymejsen” Ödeen has won not one, not two, but three WCOOP-titles. As if this wasn’t impressive enough, the Gothenburg resident has appeared on a total five final tables, finishing 4th and 7th if not winning the event. For his super-hot streak, Perrymejsen has so far earned more than $115 000 during the WCOOP. $64 302 of these, he acquired through his win in the WCOOP 52-H: $1 050 NLHE.

Get Ready for the Main Event

Even though there already has been a lot of action on the PokerStars table, there are still lots of fun looking forward to if you haven’t joined in on the fun yet. In fact, you’re just in time seeing as event 98 – the Texas No Limit Hold ‘Em Main Event – will kick off this Sunday, the 1st! Three different editions of the Main Event will be played with various buy-ins, with the $X one holding the epithet “World Championship of NLHE”.

WCOOP Main Event Schedule Sunday October 1st 12:30 (ET):

WCOOP 98-L: $109 NLHE [NLHE Main Event], $2.5M Gtd
WCOOP 98-M: $1 050 NLHE [NLHE Main Event], $4M Gtd
WCOOP 98-H: World Championship of NLHE: $10 300 Main Event, $6M Gtd

For all the four card lovers, it should be mentioned that event WCOOP 100-H: World Championship of PLO: $10 300 Main Event, $750K Gtd also is being played on Sunday, starting 15:05. Of course there are two cheaper options for the PLO as well, like it was for NLHE: choose your preferable buy-in between $109, $1 050 or $10 300.

WCOOP is without a doubt one of the highlights of the year for all online poker players. Good luck everyone participating in the WCOOP, and good luck at the tables!

The 2023 PokerGO Poker Masters came to a glittering conclusion this week and, thanks to an impressive finish, Stephen Chidwick is the new series champion.

Vladas Tamasauskas was the man to beat heading into the final few events of this poker tournament. The Lithuanian stormed to the top of the series leaderboard after winning two of the first four events. His position remained unchallenged until Stephen Chidwick found his form.

The Englishman finished sixth in Event #6 for $57,000 but, more importantly, he earned his first 57 Player of the Series points. What’s more, his first cash of the 2023 Poker Masters gave him enough momentum to go five places better in Event #8.

Winning that tournament earned Chidwick another $400,000 and 240 points. That haul moved him to fifth on the Player of the Series leaderboard with 297 points. Tamasauskas was still on top at this point but pressure was mounting from Chidwick, Darren Elias, Ren Lin, and Chino Rheem.

Stephen Chidwick Claims PokerGO’s Purple Jacket

Of the chasing quartet, it was Chidwick who parlayed his momentum into a title-winning run. A third-place finish in Event #9 got Chidwick $148,000 and 89 points, before a near miss in Event #10 sealed the deal thanks to a $504,000 payday and 302 points.

2023 PokerGO Poker Masters Player of the Series Leaderboard

PlacementPlayer NameNumber of Points
1Stephen Chidwick688 points
2Vladas Tamasauskas506 points
3Chino Rheem487 points
4Alex Foxen 460 points
5Jonathan Jaffe454 points

Winning the Player of the Series title means Stephen Chidwick takes home PokerGO’s coveted purple jacket. He also picked up an extra $50,000 to go along with the $1,109,000 he banked for his four cashes.

Another Successful Series for PokerGO

Chidwick might be the 2023 Poker Masters Champion but plenty of other well-known pros got their hands on trophies this year. In addition to the winners we profiled last week, the following players won events at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas:

  • Event #5: Andrew Lichtenberger – $204,000
  • Event #6: Orpen Kisacikoglu – $218,500
  • Event #7: Nick Schulman – $374,000
  • Event #8: Stephen Chidwick – $400,000
  • Event #9: Justin Bonomo – $333,000
  • Event #10: Jonathan Jaffe – $756,000

This year’s Poker Masters was a resounding success on every level. The list of winners lived up to hype, with virtually every champion being a household name. Attendance figures were also strong. A total of 742 buy-ins were collected across 10 events, putting the overall prizepool at $11,065,000.

Of all the tournaments that took place this year, Event #1 was the best attended. The $10,000 Texas Hold’em event attracted 114 entries, which makes it the biggest ever Poker Masters tournament.

The tournament team at PokerGO HQ will be hoping for more of the same in the Super High Roller Bowl. The $300,000 tournament kicks off on September 28 and, with most of poker’s elite already in Vegas, we can expect more high-quality action from the PokerGO Studio over the coming days but, for now, Stephen Chidwick is the master.

Sometimes it can be hard for players to navigate their way through the online poker jungle. With an abundance of online poker tournaments, festivals, unique bonuses and other features from the gambling sites, it’s not always easy for the player to decide where to spend his or hers buck.

However, this time around, there really is no question where to look for a good offer. Players would be very wise to set up their JackPoker account and participate in their Welcome Quests!

Silver, Gold and Supernova

JackPoker has been a lot in the spotlight lately. In fact, during the month och September, they conducted the Jack Freeroll Festival, which saw players massively increasing their bankroll without risking a single dime of their own.

Now JackPoker has once again entered the main stage and the spotlight is aimed right at Jack himself and the Welcome Quests he’s assigning to new players.

The concept is really simple: make your first deposit at a minimum of $20, and you’ll unlock a treasure chest containing quests. By completing these quests, you’ll have the opportunity to receive rewards, freebies and poker bonuses which surely will make your online poker grind even more enjoyable.

There are three types of Welcome Quests, and the one you will get access to depend on the amount you deposit:

  • Silver Quests: deposit $20-$99.99. If you participate in the Silver Quests, you’ll get the opportunity to receive poker rewards valuing $22.50, as well as a flipout ticket to win a chunk out of the $7 000 flipout prize pool. You will also receive an amount of free Casino spins to play Gates of Olympus.
  • Gold Quests: deposit $100-499.99. The Gold Quest participates will have the chance to receive up to $140 in poker rewards. They will also get a flipout ticket, which could see them win parts of the $15 000 prize pool. 150 free Casino spins for Gates of Olympus is also given to the Gold Quest ambassadors.
  • Supernova Quests: deposit $500 or more. The Supernova Questers are the most prestigious missioners in the JackPoker Welcome Quests club. A $635 reward value is up for grabs, a flipout ticket to take part of the $30 000 prize pool, and 150 free spins in DemiGods.

14 Days of Fun

As you probably can tell, JackPoker really wishes you a warm welcome to their site through these awesome Welcome Quests. From the day that you make your deposit on the site, your quest period of 14 days starts. All three levels have a total of eight quests. The Welcome Quests at JackPoker is a good way to try out their games and familiarize yourself with their poker site.

It is also worth mentioning, that not only will you have the opportunity to participate in the Welcome Quests. The site also has very beneficial JackPoker deposit bonuses. On your first deposit, you will get 50 % instant cash bonus (given your deposit is between $20 and $3 000). You will also get poker rakeback for up to 25 % of your deposit amount: for every $20 that you pay in rake, Jack will refund $5 right back to you!

JackPoker is indeed a site that looks out for the players, and their Welcome Quests surely bring another spice. Good luck to all questers!

The Kings of Tallinn has grown to become a European favorite stop, a place where players can find exciting poker variants like the famous Sviten Special and also enjoy incredible value. Olympic Casino welcomes the Queens of Tallinn, aiming to boost the participation and growth of women in poker and create another incredible poker festival on the European poker circuit.

The groundbreaking Queens of Tallinn poker festival will take place from November 30 to December 3 at the renowned Olympic Casino. This festival aims to not just celebrate women in poker but also elevate their underrepresented participation in the game. There will be ample opportunity during the event for female poker players to showcase their abilities, make connections, and create ever-lasting poker memories.

The Queens of Tallinn is aiming to go beyond your average European poker festival, as the core message is so important and unique. The statement focuses on women in poker, breaking a glass ceiling that has existed in poker for too long. The broader initiative is to make poker more inclusive and fair at the table, and Olympic Casino and Olybet should be commended for this effort.

The Olympic Casino Venue for Queens of Tallinn

The venue is located smack-bang in the heart of Tallinn and has built up a reputation as one of the more elite European poker venues. It has top-tier management across dealers, floor staff, and their esteemed tournament director, Teresa Nousiainen, creating a seamless poker experience for players. The casino has hosted huge field events and high roller poker tournaments many times, so it is very much ready to create a memorable and perfect poker experience during the Queens of Tallinn.

How The Queens of Tallinn Breaks Poker Stereotypes

The Queens of Tallinn is a mixed games festival at its heart and is breaking down the barriers long held against women in poker. Discrimination in poker against women can range from sexist comments to even exclusion in mixed game tables, and this is something Olympic Casino is breaking down by hosting the Queens of Tallinn. Now, women can play their favorite mixed game event in comfort, free from any ignorance or discrimination.

The event will go from Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Sviten, Stud, and beyond. There will be an event for everybody, and it will cater to the diverse poker player who enjoys playing more than the basic and boring variations of Hold’em or PLO. By breaking dysfunctional traditional norms, women have the perfect platform through the Queens of Tallinn to enjoy poker and even think about the game professionally.

The Queens of Tallinn is a significant step for women in poker, as recognition and celebration are elevated during this monumental mixed game festival. By creating a dedicated period of poker for women, Olympic Casino and other organizers are showing a dedication to resetting the standard of inclusion and fairness in poker, and that is only a good thing for the growth of the game.

Following its last stop in Brighton earlier this month, which saw Benjamin ”Spraggy” Spragg winning the £1 100 Main Event for £69 120, it was time for the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) to visit London. 374 players visited the Hippodrome Casino to participate in the Main Event in hunt for glory and fame. When all was said and done on Sunday 24th, it was Dylan Bradley who could lift the trophy and titrate himself as a champion on the UKIPT!

His First Ever Live Cash

The 22 year old Brit can’t be disappointed with the £71 650 price check; prior to his win Dylan had never cashed in a live poker tournament. For sure it was a festive atmosphere at the Hippodrome Casino with the big screen football and PokerStars-provided drinks while the final table fought it out.

Dylan entered the final table with 5th most in chips. At a fairly early stage, he found himself all in against South Korea’s Doyhun Kim. They had the same hand with Dylan holding A Q and Doyhun A Q , but the runout 3 10 6 10 9 saw Dylan improving to a flush, seeing Doyhun leaving in 8th. Not long after that, Dylan flipped with A K against Oscar Kirby Hogarty’s Q Q , once more coming out on top and busting Oscar.

From there on, fellow countryman Daniel Bedson was responsible for a lot of the action on the table, sending Eliot Granjon and Mantas Urbonas to the rail. Daniel was later himself eliminated in 4th by Bulgarian Bojidar Boiadijev. Going into the three-handed stage of the final table, Dylan held two thirds of the chips in play and improved his stack after finishing off Bojidar.

Thus, it was time for Heads Up between Dylan and Stephen Cherry, another UK resident. Dylan at this time had a huge chip lead and in only a couple of hands the players where all in on the 6 7 8 flop. Cherry was a 52% favourite with his Q 8 , however, the board ran out 5 Q turning Dylan and his 9 7 a straight, meaning Stephen had finished second and Dylan’s first ever live cash resulted in him going all the way!

Next Stop: Edinburgh

The UKIPT now takes a month break to prepare for its next stop in Edinburgh. The tour will visit the Scottish capital between the 24th and 29th of September, with the £1 100 Main Event starting the 26th. After his win in London, Dylan said ”I might start to play more tournaments now!”. Maybe we will see him at the Genting Casino Fountain Park in Edinburgh, going for the back-to-back win?

This is the second to last stop of the UKIPT in 2023, seeing as it will go out with a bang in Notthingham in November.

The PokerGO Poker Masters is in full swing and, with four events in the bag, we’ve already seen some impressive performances, including two wins by Vladas Tamasauskas.

Tamasauskas has live poker results dating back to 2015, including a breakout win worth almost $200,000 at the 2016 UKIPT event in Dublin. However, despite having over $2 million in live earnings, he’s far from a household name. This relatively anonymity is exacerbated by the fact Tamasauskas is playing in a series filled with famous names, including Daniel Negreanu, Alex Foxen, and Andrew Lichtenberger.

Vladas Tamasauskas Proves He’s a Poker Master

Not being the most recognizable face at felt certainly isn’t a reflection of Tamasauskas’ skills. Indeed, the Lithuanian pro topped a field of 114 entries in the opening event of PokerGO’s 2023 Poker Masters. Plenty of pros made it deep in the $10,100 No Limit Texas Hold’em event, including Ryan Riess and Byron Kaverman. However, it was Tamasauskas who claimed all the chips and the $239,400 top prize.

Again it was another $10,100 No Limit Hold’em tournament but, this time, he needed to beat just 86 other players to take the title. The slighter smaller field certainly didn’t mean his route to victory was any easier. Vladas Tamasauskas had fend off advances from tournament veterans such as Andrew Lichtenberger, Chance Kornuth, and Alex Foxed to pick up his second six-figure payday.

More Masterful Poker to Come

Daniel Negreanu went close in Event #4, Dan Shak has made multiple final tables, and Alex Foxen is in the mix for Player of the Series. So, with six events left to play and the Super High Roller Bowl on September’s schedule, Tamasauskas’ place at the top of the leaderboard is far from secure.
