WPT Global Changed Poker Rewards Program Again

WPT Global Changed Poker Rewards Program Again

For the second time since the introduction of its Poker Rewards Program, WPT Global made changes in May 2025 without any public announcement.
PokerListings accidentally noticed an update on the WPT Global official website and rushed to share it with you as soon as possible.

WPT Global Poker Rewards Program Before May 2025

This program started on July 29th, 2024 in the form of the Table Starter Boost promotion, giving the first two players who started any NLHE, PLO, PLO5, or Short Deck cash table a 20% flat rakeback.

A player was considered eligible for rakeback if they sat at a table with 0 or 1 player only. The player could receive the rakeback for the table they started until they left the table. The only time they were allowed not to be active at this table was for up to 5 minutes during a break.

In August 2024, the Poker Rewards Program was updated and clarified.

High-stakes players received 40% rakeback if they started tables following the rules above at the following limits:

  • NL$25/50/100 or higher
  • NL¥100/200/400 or higher
  • PL$25/50 or higher
  • SD¥200 or higher

At any limits below — Mid, Low, or Micro — WPT Global continued to pay table starters 20% rakeback.

As of May 14th, 2025, you can still see this page with the old rules through WebArchive, where the WPT Global website was last snapshotted on February 11th, 2025.

WPT Global Poker Rewards Program Changes in May 2025

WPT Global Poker Rewards Program 2025 May

Around the first week of May 2025, WPT Global significantly changed the program:

  • PLO4, PLO5, and Flash games are excluded — now rakeback can only be earned at NLHE and Short Deck tables, except for heads-up tables, which are also excluded.
  • Mid, Low, and Micro tables are excluded too — now the only tables eligible for this promotion are High limits: NL$25/50/100, NL¥100/200/400, SD¥200 or higher.
  • The 20% rakeback is gone — only 40% for high-stakes tables remains.
  • “The first two players” was changed to “the first player”, meaning now only the first person starting a new table without any other participants will receive rakeback. Moreover, according to the new rules, if two players sit down together to start a session, the table starter will be selected at random.

With the new rules, the number of players receiving rakeback on WPT Global is expected to decrease significantly. But hopefully, the room plans to balance these changes with some new promotions for cash players in the near future — and PokerListings will continue to follow WPT Global closely to be the first to inform you about them.
