On April 29-30th, 2025 U.S. poker star Tom Dwan scared his followers on X (ex-Twitter) with a series of disturbing posts claiming that someone tried to hurt him in the UK.

A lot of people expressed their concerns about Tom’s health, overall well-being and safety, so PokerListings shares here all publicly known details of this situation as of April 30th, 2025.

Is Tom Dwan Safe and Well?

According to the PokerNews reporter who talked to Tom Dwan in-person on evening of April 30th, 2025, the poker player was admitted to the Park Royal Mental Health Centre in the UK:

“He’s clearly under the supervision of the NHS [National Health Service] here in Middlesex just outside London. I spoke with him for about 15 to 20 minutes, he spoke to me at length about what he believes he’s gone through. I can assure, he is looking well, he appeared physically unharmed, and, as I said, probably in exactly the right place to continue to get better.” 

By the way, the last message Tom Dwan posted before speaking to the reporter is: “Finally feeling a bit better, I got a bit stressed sorry”.

Why Tom Dwan Is In The Mental Health Centre?

As of April 30th, 2025 the reason was unclear and Tom himself didn’t share what happened to him.

For almost a whole day he posted messages with innuendo that some people tried to hurt him because he is “a huge threat to them right now” and called his friends and the whole poker community to help him because he is scared:

“Please help save my life sir 🙏🏻. They just tried to force drugs on me even though the doctors had said I don’t need repeatedly (and why would I… Doesn’t make sense) Please all my friends help amplify this, I’m literally begging 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻”

Due to the rapidity of his messaging and serious allegations he made, some people genuinely became worried and tried to reach out to him to help. Others speculated that he had a mental breakdown, psychotic episode or some other health issues that made him confused.

We won’t speculate about Tom’s health and will be waiting until (and if) he decides to share his personal health information through his accounts.
