Triton One Lights Up New Names on the Poker Sky

Four tournaments have concluded, with three of them won by players from Asian countries.

Chengxu Hu Wins $3K QQPK Genesis ($564K)

Chengxu is sitting at the table with a prize at Triton.

The tournament attracted 1,185 entries, making it the largest event in Triton’s history. Neither organizers nor players expected such massive participation, and the final table had to be completed on an extra day.

Chengxu Hu had to fight for survival throughout the event. At one point, he was down to just 5 big blinds, but managed to rebuild and climb back every time. He reached the final table with 16 big blinds and spent most of the play in the lower part of the chip count.

In heads-up, Chengxu Hu started with 38 big blinds against Niklas Deitmer’s 22 big blinds. In the final hand, Deitmer called off his stack with A8o but couldn’t beat Hu’s pocket threes. The runner-up payout was $327K.

Xiaqing Ji Hits a Two-Out Miracle on the Way to Winning the $10K NLH Mystery Bounty ($245K excl. bounties)

The event drew 273 entries. Remarkably, for the first time in Triton history, three women reached the final table.

Ebony Kenney finished 9th for $25K (all prizes exclude Mystery Bounty rewards).

The other two women reached 3-max, where Kristen Foxen suffered the most devastating hand of her tournament life.

In the following hand, Foxen shoved pocket fours, Ji called with AJo, and two aces appeared on the flop. Foxen finished in 3rd place for $116K.

In heads-up, Ji began with 40 big blinds against Thi Xoa Nguyen — who had lit up the final table with an exciting performance — holding 15 big blinds. They battled for about an hour. After a couple of doubles, Nguyen moved ahead, but Ji fought back. First, he won a 16-big-blind all-in with QJo against K8o, with a fan shouting “Lady Gaga” to call for the queen — and it hit the flop. A few hands later, Ji shoved with 65s, Nguyen called with ATo, and the board ran out A695K for a 21-big-blind pot. In the final hand, Nguyen shoved 6 big blinds with Q2o but couldn’t beat Ji’s KTo. The runner-up payout was $155K.

Players will draw Mystery Bounty envelopes today, with prizes ranging from $10K to $100K.
