Spin & Go Championship Live Returns at EPT Barcelona

Spin & Go Championship Live Returns at EPT Barcelona

The Spin & Go Championship Live was nothing short of a massive success when it debuted last December at EPT Prague. So, it was a no brainer to bring in back this summer, and this time it’s heading to EPT Barcelona. The second edition of the event will run from August 30 to 31, bringing together 81 players at Casino Barcelona for a two-day competition with a €275,000 prize pool, including €100,000 for the winner.

Following its debut back in December 2024, the format returns with a few familiar elements: short-handed matches, a progression-based structure, and no direct buy-in. All players will qualify online through PokerStars, with more information on the qualification process expected soon.

The Spin & Go Championship Live Format: How It Works

Like the online Spin & Go structure it’s based on, this live version focuses on fast, three-player matches. The Spin & Go Championship Live tournament is invite-only, and players will move through the competition by winning a set number of matches rather than through traditional chip counts.

Here’s how the structure breaks down:

  • Round 1: 81 players sit down at 27 three-handed tables
  • Progression: Players continue playing matches until they record four wins
  • Round 2: The winners from Round 1 face off in new matches
  • Round 3: The final nine players battle for a spot at the three-handed final table

From there, the winner takes home the €100K top prize and the Spin & Go Championship trophy. There’s no re-entry, no direct buy-in, and no rake — the only way to play is to qualify online.

The tournament format doesn’t use blinds or chip stacks in the usual sense. Instead, it follows a score-based progression, where players advance by winning individual matches. This keeps the pace tight and the schedule predictable.

What Happened in Prague…

The inaugural event took place at EPT Prague in December 2024 and followed the same format. Spanish player Carlos Gurdiel came out on top, finishing with six wins at the final table and collecting €25,000 for first place.

That edition featured the same number of players — 81 total — and a €100,000 prize pool, which was split across payouts and additional “mystery envelope” prizes. Despite being a new addition to the schedule, the event drew solid attention both at the tables and from spectators, thanks to its fast structure and visible results.

And What We Know About Barcelona So Far

Barcelona has long been one of the busiest stops on the European Poker Tour calendar. Casino Barcelona will once again host the action, just steps from the beach and walking distance from the city’s main attractions.

Like last year, PokerStars is expected to offer full travel packages as part of the qualification prize — these typically include the event entry, accommodation, and expenses. Qualification will take place through the PokerStars client, but exact details are still to come.

With a larger prize pool and a familiar format, the Barcelona edition looks to build on what was tested in Prague. Whether you’re a regular in Spin & Go games or just keeping an eye on the live schedule, it’s one to watch.
