PokerStars EPT Season: “lenonss” Wins $22 $500,000 EPT Mystery Special For a Total of $16,913.65


PokerStars has been running the EPT Season from October 12th, a series of tournaments with bumper guarantees across a range of poker variants and formats. One of the largest guarantees on offer over the series came in the $22 $500,000 Mystery Special, which saw a whopping field of 21,522 players take to the virtual felts in pursuit of the ever-elusive top bounty prize. The EPT Season has been popular, and PokerStars remains one of the best sites to play microstakes tournaments if you are. new too the game, or looking to get back into it. The title went to Bulgarian player “lenonss”, who scooped a total score of $16,913.65 after agreeing on a three-way deal. Both the second and third place finishers added more money to their Stars bankroll than the eventual winner, but they take pride in being the champion of a 20,000+ runner tournament.

How The Day Started

Play resumed at 6 p.m. on Monday GMT with 179 left battling it out for the title and the remaining bounties. Players also found an increase in the blind level duration, increasing from 12 minutes to 15 minutes apiece. The big ones had all found homes in the previous day’s play, with Estonian player “UMC_MJ” pulling the biggest bounty of them all – $50,000. They departed in 211th on Day 1, and the two $10,000 bounties were added to the bankrolls of Ukrainian “FL_RAP” (1,018th – $53.97) and “shlemanas” of Denmark (296th – $75.30), who will be very thankful for firing a second bullet at this tournament. Of the $2,000 bounty recipients, only three remain in the field. Germany’s “$teve45” (145th – 2,490,318 chips), Canada’s “HARDPHIL77” (98th – 4,377,816), and Greece’s “Sharpblade91” (84th – 4,778,986) all pulled from the third biggest bounty selection. Brazilian player “Divx77” laid claim to the final $2,000 bounty, before departing in 19th for $3,061.52 total.

It was a Brazilian podium to kick off proceedings, and the Days chip-leader “burianjpb” ended up hitting the showers in 43rd place, finishing the tournament with a total score of $1,644.60. Second in chips “bixotry” faired better in the rankings than his compatriot, but not in the total score department, and ended up cashing in 29th place for $665.29. “yuriVsa finished in 23rd for $733.98. Bust-outs came at a decent rate to kick off the day, as there were short stacks that scraped through to Day 2 in need of a crucial spin-up.

Final Table

Of the top 10 going into Day 2, only two players made the final table: “aleks207” from Uzbekistan and “ElCarrasco1” from Germany. Another member of the strong Brazilian contingent on PokerStars, BIELXXT96, was the victim of the final table bubble, but did walk away with a healthy score of $2,053.33 for their efforts. “ElCarrasco1” came into the day fifth in chips and finished sixth, for a total score of $4,453.21 for their deep run. “aleks207” moved up the rankings, however, starting the day in eighth and making it to second place. However, the Uzbek national was the tournament’s biggest winner, as they were the beneficiary of being the largest stack when the final three agreed on an ICM deal. “aleks207” scored a total of $17,393.05 for the second-place finish, and third-place finisher “baozinq1” secured $16,764.71.
