Hi everyone! Max here from PokerListings — the person who replies to your emails and messages in our online chat.
It looks like we have a lot to talk about. In this article, I’ll cover freerolls, new promotions, and, of course, answer your questions.
1. What Happened to the Freerolls?
Yesterday in our chat https://t.me/pokerlistings_chat we had a discussion about changes to our freerolls.
We’ve been talking about this throughout December, but that information got buried in long and not-so-exciting articles. The key point is simple: we want to provide maximum value to players who register at poker rooms through PokerListings.
That’s why, starting in January 2026, many of our freerolls are no longer password-based. Instead, they are affiliate-linked freerolls.
Before, a $100 freeroll could attract 800 players.
Now, the same $100 prize pool may be contested by 10 players who actually registered through our links.
We believe the value of registering via PokerListings is now obvious.
For members of our community who already have accounts registered through other websites but still prefer our content and chats, we’ve kept some password-protected tournaments.
For example, password freerolls are still available on 888Poker and 888Poker ES.
Passwords for these tournaments will be published on our social channels:
- Instagram – https://instagram.com/pokerlistings/
- Telegram – https://t.me/pokerlistings/
We also invite all freeroll players to join our Telegram chat. Later this year, we’ll introduce additional platforms for community interaction.
There’s one more important issue I need to mention.
The biggest problem with password freerolls is pirate websites — platforms whose entire business model is based on stealing passwords and reposting them to generate traffic.
Why is this bad?
Affiliates like PokerListings want to run promotions specifically for their own players.
For example, imagine we have a cozy Telegram chat with 100 members. We’d love to run a $100 tournament just for our subscribers and play together on a weekend evening. A $100 freeroll for 100 players would be a great experience and a way to connect with our community.
Unfortunately, in reality, the password gets stolen almost instantly. Instead of 100 familiar players, the tournament ends up with 800 random participants we’ve never seen before.
The solution is moving away from password freerolls and switching to affiliate-linked freerolls.
This may be inconvenient for large anonymous communities, but it’s clearly beneficial for players who trust PokerListings with their registrations.
2. New Promotions
Starting in January, we launched two exclusive promotions with Americas Cardroom and CoinPoker.
We expected the launch to be slow — January is traditionally difficult after the holiday season, and the market was overheated by aggressive December promotions from poker rooms.
Over time, we’ll keep reminding you about these offers and explain why they’re more attractive than most alternatives on the market.
Here’s the idea:
You deposit $25, and in return, you receive an additional $25 in tournament tickets.
You deposit $25, but start playing with $50 — the value is obvious.
These bonuses come on top of the room’s standard bonuses. You don’t lose anything, but you significantly boost your starting bankroll.
Next, we run weekly $100 freerolls exclusively for our players.
That’s $400 per month, contested by roughly a dozen players. This alone can help grow your bankroll by a few extra tens of dollars each month.
At the end of the month, you’ll also have access to a $500 tournament for depositors only.
If our private freerolls involve dozens of players, this final event will be contested by just a handful — making it especially attractive for players who prefer low buy-in tournaments.
You risk a $25 deposit, but potentially gain much more by registering through PokerListings.
To receive this bonus, you need to:
- Register using our link
- Make a deposit of at least $25
- Contact us via live chat on the site or at [email protected]
- Wait for the tournament tickets to be credited
3. Answers to Your Questions
Charles from New Zealand is asking about our new Odds Calculator:
“Will I get banned from GGPoker for using this?”
Our answer is no.
This calculator is designed purely for educational purposes. It doesn’t give you any real-time advantage during play, because you don’t know your opponent’s cards until the hand is over. No poker room bans the use of our odds calculator.
Samira from France asks (in French):
“I want to earn €1,000.”
Hi Samira — we fully support that goal and hope the new year helps make it happen.
Seriously speaking, beginners should start with freerolls that offer real prizes, mainly to understand whether they actually enjoy spending time playing online poker. However, staying on freerolls for too long is a poor investment of time.
Make a small deposit and play tournaments with guaranteed prize pools. Even €1 tournaments can realistically lead to €1,000 wins — and the probability is much higher than grinding freerolls.
For other readers, I might suggest registering through the BC Poker app and claiming a $5 no-deposit bonus — but unfortunately, this option isn’t available to Samira in France.
Diane from the US asks:
“I’m in the USA. Can I play poker online in another country?”
People must follow the laws of the country in which they are physically located.
If you leave the US and move, for example, to another country where online poker is legal, the rules applicable in that country will apply to you while you’re there.
Al from Canada asks:
“When I deposit money on PokerStars, I win a few small cash games. After that, I lose everything with bad beats until my money is gone. Why?”
There can be many reasons for this.
You need to look at how you were playing and whether your approach changed after you started winning. For example, you may have relaxed too much, played more hands, become more aggressive, went on tilt, and couldn’t stop.
If you want, tell me what format you were playing and whether you changed limits.
Some players also keep journals where they track both results and emotional state — this can be very helpful. That’s all for this article. We can continue the conversation in our poker chat or via the live chat on our websites. Send us interesting poker questions — and we’ll keep the discussion going.
