€50,000 Bombay Big 50: Mokri Claims His Crown
Day 4 of Bombay High Stakes Week brought the €50,000 Big 50, the highest buy-in event of the series so far. Just seven entries, but don’t let the small field fool you, there was still more on top than a respectable live tournament with 1,000 players. With a €339,500 prize pool and only two spots paid, this was survival of the fittest.
After early fireworks from the likes of Morten Klein and chess wizard Ottomar Ladva (both firing two bullets), and Dutch crusher Teun Mulder bubbling for the third time this week – yes, really – the final heads-up battle came down to Kayhan Mokri and Ottomar Ladva.
Mokri, who had already been active all week and was overdue for some redemption, finally closed the deal. The Norwegian bagged his first Bombay Club title and €220,700 after defeating Ladva heads-up, who added another strong finish to his already stacked Bombay resume with €118,800 for second. Mokri has been having a stellar run in high-stakes tournaments in recent years, adding yet another massive trophy to his name.

Kayhan Mokri’s Run – A Week of Firepower
This wasn’t Mokri’s only splash this week. After busting five bullets in the Warm-Up without a single shot on a decent result, he came back to the venue to finish 4th in the €25K Main Event, grabbing a solid €113,200.
That Main Event was no joke either. A total of 41 entries built a €984,000 prize pool, and it was Estonian mystery man Kaspar Kaisel who came out on top, defeating hedge fund boss Marat Kasparov after a heads-up battle. Kaisel banked €339,500, while Kasparov scooped €221,400.

Ladva Strikes First in Warm-Up
Of course, no recap of Bombay High Stakes Week is complete without taking a bow to the man making a serious run at Player of the Series: Ottomar Ladva. The Estonian chess prodigy and poker phenomenon kicked off the action by winning the €10K Turbo Warm-Up, defeating none other than Ville-Petteri Wahlbeck heads-up for €89,900.
Not bad for a guy who already owns a previous Bombay Main Event title and who seems to be on fire in his home territory. That Main Event he had won was perhaps the best-ever commented TV table in the past decade. A must-watch, we would advise you!
