Dylan Linde’s hot start to this year’s WSOP Vegas reached a boiling point last night under the lights of the feature table at the Horseshoe Cardroom.
After making two final tables this series in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em event and the $1,500 Monster Stack, the Idaho-born American binked his biggest score of his poker career thus far, winning Event #57: $50,000 PLO High Roller for $2,146,414.
The PLO High Roller Action
The three-day event garnered 194 total entrants, which generated a staggering prize pool of $9,215,00, the lion’s share of which went home to Linde.
Linde bested the final 11 players that returned for the third and final day of this event, and the field couldn’t have been much tougher. Between them, the players had accumulated a massive $131,652,637 in career tournament earnings, most of which belong to the 2nd in the all-time money list and 1st overall in the UK, Stephen Chidwick, who came into Day 3 fourth in chips.

The all-around crusher was looking to go back-to-back in the high-stakes PLO streets, having won this event at the previous WSOP stop in the Bahamas last December. Chidwick took home $1,357,080 for his efforts.
He fell short this time in Vegas and couldn’t overcome a 15:1 chip deficit versus Linde heads-up, but he added another seven-figure score of $1,430,938 to his exemplary resume. Despite being known predominantly as a Holdem player, Chidwick’s bracelet wins all came in PLO, showcasing his versatility across any variant of poker.

Online PLO endboss Dirk Gerritse, aka “VeniVidi1993”, found himself slap-bang in the middle of the pack come the first hand of the day, and the Dutchman navigated his way to the final table, but found himself to be the first elimination of the final table having been left short by Chidwick a few hands prior.
Gerritse was eliminated after he couldn’t hit his nut-flush draw versus the flopped nut-straight of Austrian National Manuel Stojanovic. This took Stojanovic up to third in chips.

Linde came into today in 9th place of the remaining 11 players. He climbed up the counts during final table play, courtesy of winning a sizeable one versus Chinese high roller Quan Zhou, who was looking to add to his $12,850,571 in live tournament earnings. Zhou found his jacks up against Linde’s aces on a dry ten-high flop.
Linde turned a straight, and Zhou’s rivered set meant a good chunk of change headed in Linde’s direction and left Zhou at the bottom of the pile. The American then made a boat in a three-way pot to continue climbing up the chip counts before claiming the remainder of Zhou’s stack, sending him packing in seventh.

The WSOP’s most winning PLO player, Ka Kwan Lau, also remained in the field, and he started the day in second place.
His total earnings for WSOP PLO events now stand at around the $4,000,000 mark, most of which was made from winning the $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha – High Roller for $2,294,756 back in 2023.
He won a big pot with double-suited aces versus Chidwick, but ultimately, the Brit got those chips back and more a couple of hands later to leave Lau near the bottom of the rankings as Chidwick chipped up into the podium places.
Ding then doubled through Lau to leave him last, and unfortunately for him, he couldn’t win another Event #57 at The Horseshoe, and he departed in sixth, having run kings into aces against Chidwick.
Linde and Chidwick Take Control
Stojanovic couldn’t continue to build on his momentum after stacking Gerritse, and his scalp was taken by Chidwick, who showed no signs of slowing down at this final table.
He got it in on the flop with top set, leaving Chidwick with aces and a wheel draw. Unfortunately for the Austrian, Chidwick went runner-runner to make the wheel straight, and Stojanovic was stacked.
Linde continued to be patient and picked his spots expertly. He pulled back some chips from Chidwick, who was looking like he would run away with it, having usurped PLO specialist and WSOPE bracelet holder Richard Gryko at the top of the counts.

Linde doubled with bottom set against Chidwick, who had two overpairs in hand on a flush draw and straight-making flop.
Gryko retook his place at the top of the counts before Linde ascended to pole position. He shoved the river with two pair, having faced three barrels from Chidwick, who snap-folded on the river. Chidwick went for the bluff, having missed his flush and Broadway draws.
Linde then left Gryko with crumbs, having called a massive check-raise on the turn. He showed down two pair and Gryko mucked his hand and became the final table short-stack. Linde didn’t stop there and kept piling on the pressure.

He fired three streets against Chidwick and made a Broadway on the river. Chidwick folded two pair, and this pot put daylight between Linde in first and Chidwick in second,
The short-stacks kept surviving and weren’t going down without a fight. Gryko and Ding found a double up, and the latter a runner-runner triple up to stay in the game.
Ding then departed in fourth despite having flopped bottom set. This time, it was Linde’s turn to go runner-runner as he spiked a straight on the river to send Ding to the rail.
The Final Frames
Linde had accumulated the majority of the chips in play by the time three-handed play came around, but he started by losing an all-in to both of his opponents. Ultimately, Gryko was next to fall in third, and his now ten-year wait for a second bracelet, and his first in Vegas, will continue.

The heads-up battle didn’t last long, purely down to the insurmountable chip lead that Linde had generated throughout the night’s play. The first hand saw Linde receive a walk; on the second hand, all the chips were in the middle, and Linde flopped top and bottom and had filled up on the river to secure his third bracelet and a career-best cash.
