SuperStar Showdown: Jungleman12 Falls

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom beat Dan “jungleman12” Cates for $51k last night to win another SuperStar Showdown on PokerStars.

With three editions of the 2,500-hand challenges complete only Isaac Haxton has been able to beat Blom.

Blom and Cates are no strangers to multi-tabling and last night were able to bang out 2,500 hands of $50/$100 No-Limit Hold’em in less than four hours.

To say there were swings in the match would be an understatement as the lead flipped between Blom and Cates countless times in the first 1,000 hands.

Near the midway point of the challenge, Cates started to pull away and was up by more than $60,000.

It was around this time that Blom would lay a sick beat on Cates to rake a $15,000 pot.

In the hand Cates rivered the second nut flush but Blom hit the stone cold nuts with a king-high flush on an ace-high board.

The hand seemed to turn the tide of the match.

Blom continued to chip away at Cates’ lead and had managed to reduce his debt to $15,000 when the following monster pot transpired.

Cates rivered kings up with K-T only to have Blom river a broadway straight with Q-J. All the money went in the middle and Blom won over $25,000 in the hand.

Isildur1 dominated the last hour of play and Cates would have lost considerably more if he didn’t hit a miracle river card to win a $54k pot in one of the last hands.

The final card was dealt with Isildur1 leading by $51,196 and both players left with a simple “gg” in the chatbox.

Blom has now beaten Tony G and Daniel Cates in the SuperStar Showdown while Isaac Haxton was able to walk away victorious.

Isildur1 didn’t mention who his next challenger will be although some of the railbirds were calling for a rematch with online poker pro Haxton.

Fellow Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu was also asking about the challenge’s rules in the chatbox.
