Real Dice launches poker for iPhones
By Sarah Polson
Real Dice announced this week that it has launched Multiplayer Championship Poker for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
"The expansion of Multiplayer Championship Poker to the iTunes store now allows iPhone and iPod Touch customers to pull up a virtual chair and play Texas Hold'em with the 300,000 users who are already online on a variety of other devices," said Russ McMahon, Real Dice director of mobile development.
"We've developed the game so players from every supported system can play live games together no matter which handset they have. This means that you can log in with your iPhone while you're sitting at the airport and play with your Blackberry-loving best friend or take on a complete stranger who's logged in through Facebook on the web."
Multiplayer Championship Poker features live multiplayer capability, ring games, sit-and-go tournaments and multi-table events every 15 minutes.
The game gives Apple users the ability to connect with thousands of players from around the world at any time.
Multiplayer Championship Poker also has an offline option to play along, practice and build poker skills against unique artificial intelligence opponents. There is also a comprehensive strategy guide for all levels, as well as free desktop and Facebook versions.
According to a press release from Real Dice, the game has received widespread acclaim from gaming and poker enthusiasts alike and was hailed as "Game of the Year" by Smartphone magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Multiplayer Championship Poker is now available for download in the iTunes store for $9.99. It is also available for BlackBerry, Palm, Windows Mobile or Symbian for varying prices.
