PepperoniF Cooks Up $211k Victory
PLO-specialist Rui Cao booked an impressive weekend on PokerStars winning over $200k.
The French player recorded 6,016 hands of PLO this weekend and thrashed noted online players Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and LuckyGump.
Cao snagged his biggest pot of the weekend when he managed to river a full house and Sauce123 paid him off with a $54,390 pot.
It’s been a busy year for Cao as he’s amassed over $1.5 million in winnings on PokerStars and was up $468k on Full Tilt Poker before Black Friday.
Cao stands a decent chance of overtaking Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane as the overall biggest winner on PokerStars this year.
Cochrane built up $1.7 million in profit in the first part of 2011 but has remained stagnant since the WSOP.
No player felt the hurt this weekend more than Russian Alexey “LuckyGump” Makarov who dropped $215k.
Makarov, who won a SCOOP event earlier this year for $151k, is still holding on to a $348k profit on PokerStars this year but will be looking to put together a big run soon.
Cao wasn’t the only player top $100k in profit this weekend as Theo Jorgensen, who hit a rough patch last week, nearly made up for it by winning $106k in 1,433 hands.
Verve.oasis (+$75k), ScHnibL0r (+$63k) and mikki696 (+$62k) also made it into the top five earners’ category this weekend.
On the other hand Ben Sulsky was a major loser, mostly thanks to Cao, as he lost a total of $149k. Fortunately he’s still up $846k this year so it will be awhile before he’s in the red.
Terken89 (-$95k), f2fish (-$51k) and johnnygogo3 (-$50k) were also amongst this weekend’s biggest losers.
