Monster Pot Recap: Ilari_FIN Smokes Isildur1 for $91k

Ilari Sahamies
Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies

Ilari “Ilari_FIN” Sahamies crushed Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in one of the biggest hands recorded on PokerStars last night.

The railbirds always flock to the tables when the two aggressive Nordic pros face off and last night was no exception as they played a combined total of over 5,000 hands at the $100/$200 PLO tables.

At about 6:45 p.m. ET this hand took place between Sahamies, Blom and Phil Galfond. 0Human0 was also sitting at the table. Sahamies and Blom both had close to $45k while Galfond was sitting on $20k.

Isildur1 was first to act and he popped it up to $600 and Sahamies flatted from the button. That was enough to chase away 0Human0 but Galfond raised to $2,460.

Sahamies and Blom both came along for the ride by calling and that brought a 6 5 3 flop.

Galfond kept the pressure on with a $3,400 bet but Isildur1 immediately raised to $18,435 and Sahamies straight up shoved for his last $40k. Galfond folded but Isildur1 decided to call off his entire stack. The cards?

Ilari FIN: 7 5 6 4 (Straight)

Isildur1: 9 6 4 3 (Two-pair)

It’s common to see 60/40 situations in PLO but on this occasion Sahamies had his Swedish opponent absolutely dominated thanks to his made straight and numerous draws. With very few outs, Isildur1 had only a 10% chance of winning the hand according to our odds calculator.

The suckout didn’t materialize for Isildur1 as the board finished with the 8 and the K to give Sahamies a meaningless flush.

It was an odd night for high stakes as Isildur1 and even Sahamies finished down by the time he called it quits. Isildur1 dropped $156k while Sahamies lost $155k.

Some of the other established pros to lose big last night included Rui Cao (-$207k), Ville Wahlbeck (-$191k), mTw-DaviN (-$188k) and Fake Love888 (-$187k).

Meanwhile the underrated Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky topped the profit charts with $397k to his name. Other notable winners included doncarignano (+$175k), Jeans89 (+$137k) and 1-ronnyr3 (+$88,922).
