MicahJ Busting up the Ranks

Chips

Relatively unknown player Micah "MicahJ" Smith has began making waves in the high-stakes community lately, having collected over $580k in profits since February.

Starting just before February, Smith ground his 2010 profit up to $40k, staying there until just before March, before going on a violent upswing.

From March to now, he has worked $40k into over $580,000 on Full Tilt, playing everything from $25/$50 Pot-Limit Omaha to $300/$600 PLO and Hold'em.

His session yesterday began with a heads-up $100/$200 PLO session against luckexpress10. Despite winning the largest pot of the day, worth $88,590, Smith was only able to make $1,638 from the 353-hand session.

Online high-stakes regular NEKOTYAN would be next to take on the up-and-comer, playing 931 hands of $100/$200 PLO in a split heads-up session. Without playing a single pot worth more than $85k, Smith managed to win $310,228 before the two called it quits.

In between the two halves of the $100/$200 session, the two also played 247 hands of $50/$100 PLO, NEKOTYAN making back just $16,635 of his losses.

After adding in half a dozen smaller matches to this total session, Smith had earned, at the time of publication, a total $303,912, ending the day as the 14th most profitable player in the high stakes games in 2010.

Perhaps this upswing is just a blip on radar. If not, a new high-stakes star may have been born over the past few months.
