Iceman freezes competition at LAPC

Teddy "The Iceman" Monroe is on a boat like T-Pain and Andy Samberg.

While 43 lesser players faltered at the LAPC on Tuesday, Teddy "The Iceman" Monroe froze the competition over six levels of play at the Commerce Casino.

Monroe, perhaps better known for the layers upon layers of fake diamonds with which he adorns himself than for his poker prowess, galvanized the tables late on Day 4.

The Iceman spiked the action with a series of incredible pronouncements bolstered by a succession of timely double-ups.

Though he struggled with a short stack throughout the day, he managed to stay alive, a feat he accomplished largely due to his self-professed top-notch poker abilities - and a little physical process called freezing.

"You just got froze," the Iceman proclaimed after doubling through one unlucky soul. "The Iceman ain't goin' nowhere. I'm the No. 1 live tournament player in the world."

"Every time you think you can bust me, you gonna get froze," Monroe continued, his proclamations being Nick "The Takeover" Schulman, Mike "SowersUNCC" Sowers, Peter Feldman and Zachary Hyman.

Play resumes at noon Wednesday and will continue until only six players remain. Check out all the action in the PokerListings.com Live Tournaments section all day.
