Gus Hansen's crazy streak: up $1.7 million
Gus Hansen is on the streak of a lifetime at the Full Tilt Poker high-stakes tables. So far in November, the Danish star has won $1.7 million in Pot-Limit Omaha games.
However, the month didn't start very well at all for him:
"I had a really bad downswing at Full Tilt. I was actually pretty happy about the way I played, but my money management and my steam control weren't very good," Hansen writes in a column in Danish newspaper Ekstrabladet.
"But then things turned around. To make a long story short, I won $1,750,000 in four days."
During this period, Hansen mainly played $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha, up to four tables at once, but he also played a little H.O.R.S.E. and Omaha Hi-Lo to "spice things up."
"Of course, there have been many huge pots, both bad beats and lucky hits, but in the end things have gone my way against Patrik Antonius (FinddaGrind), Ilari Sahamies (Ziigmund), David Benyamine and the other players."
Some of the highlights from Hansen's lucky November streak include:
He caught a full house on the river to win a $167k pot against Sahamies, who had flopped the nut straight.
He flopped the nut straight and won a $147k pot against Patrik Antonius, who had flopped top set.
He hit a runner-runner straight to win a $104k pot against player "google12345." When all the money went in on the flop, Hansen had only top pair and no real draw, while google12345 had a set.
He caught a two-outer on the river to win a $105k pot against player "trex313."
"I hope my good run continues," Hansen writes. With seven-digit winnings in the space of four days, who wouldn't?
