Gus Hansen plays Dang-gerous poker

Gus Hansen

The action hit the ground running today with Gus Hansen playing not one, but both of the notorious Dang brothers at some heads-up $500/$1,000 PLO.

The session started for Hansen by playing Di "Urindanger" Dang on his Hansen Knockout table. After a few hours of high-action play, Urindanger was replaced by his brother Hac "trex313" Dang, a regular at the table with Hansen.

Hansen won the largest pot of the session, worth just under $240k, against Urindanger but lost the second largest, worth nearly $230k, to trex313.

All in all the session was an epic battle, with 92 of the top 100 largest pots today being part of these two heads-up sessions.

As any player familiar with the draw-laden game of PLO will know, cold decks and suck-outs are simply part of the game. Unfortunately for Gus Hansen, many of his "bad luck" hands came during some of the largest pots of the night.

Here are some of the most painful losses for Hansen.

House vs. house

Flush vs. flush

Flopped three pair and drawing dead

Three pair and a flush draw no good
