Galfond Goes Beast Mode, Wins $270k
Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond straight up crushed the high stakes games on PokerStars last night.
After a tepid couple of weeks, Galfond burned through 7,994 hands and ended up scorching his opponents for $270k.
Galfond stuck to the $50/$100 Six-Max PLO games and although the line-up rotated between Ilari Sahamies, Davin “mTw-DaviN” Georgi and !P0krparty? his winning ways remained the same.
It’s been a swingy month for Galfond as he started by losing nearly $500k in the first week alone. Fortunately for Galfond he was up by close to that amount in 2011 so he was left riding a $50k profit.
After last night’s session Galfond is back in a big way with $325k in online poker profit this year.
Noted online pro Andreas “Skjervoy” Torbergsen had a drastically different online experience last night as he lost $235k to take the dubious honor as the night’s biggest loser.
Torbergsen mostly stuck to the $50/$100 PLO Six-Max games against !P0krparty? and socutiesf.
The Norwegian was briefly the biggest winner in 2011 with $1.5 million in profit but he’s dropped down to $1.2 million, which puts him in second place.
The overall biggest winner this year is currently Isreali pro Rafi “refaelamit” Amit who picked up another $135k last night to boost his 2011 profit up to an astounding $1.69 million.
Some of the other big winners last night included GARFIELD25 (+$153k), verve.oasis (+$128k) and cpf123.com (+$99k).
Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane, who has been on extended downswing for the last couple months, finally turned it around last night with a big $72k victory.
Meanwhile Skjervoy was the biggest loser but Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies was right behind him with $191k in losses.
Sahamies had been very hot earlier this month and is still riding a profit of $627k on PokerStars this year.
!P0krparty? (-$177k), Davin “mTw-DaviN” Georgi (-$176k) and socutiesf (-$129k) were also amongst the biggest losers last night.
