Apparently the decision to move to Canada to play online poker is working out just fine for Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond.

Galfond, who plays on PokerStars as MrSweets28, recorded 5,799 hands over the weekend and absolutely crushed his opponents for well over $200k.

The former Maryland resident stuck primarily to $25/$50 Pot-Limit Omaha and took Viktor “Isildur1” Blom to the cleaners for $120k.

Galfond also won smaller sessions against Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky and Alexey Makarov before finally finishing the weekend with $256k in profit.

It’s a marked difference from Galfond’s first few sessions after moving to Canada where he lost over $100k. He’s now up $231k overall since crossing the border.

The stakes on PokerStars are somewhat smaller than Galfond is used to playing but with Brian Hastings considering a move to Canada and Dan “jungleman12” Cates already on his way, there could be some very big games on the way.

Meanwhile Isildur1 continued his degenerate streak by playing 13,613 hands over the weekend. The young Scandi had the dubious distinction of being the weekend’s biggest loser with -$166k.

In the last two weeks Isildur1 has recorded 64,686 hands. As a comparison, Phil Ivey played 57,079 hands in all of 2010.

Galfond wasn’t the only big winner this weekend, however, as Alexey Makarov (+$111k), Skjervoy (+$107k), Bjoerni89 (+$91k), tuff_shark ($84k) all picked up a decent amount of cash.

The United Kingdom’s Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane, who is still the biggest winner on PokerStars with $1.6 million in profit, had a bad weekend losing $149k.

Some of the other players in the losing column this weekend included le kork (-$149k), goofytwo (-$80k) and Borys313 (-$52k).
