Daily 3-Bet: Sorkin Directs Molly’s Game, Early WSOP, 24/7 Lunging

Hollywood
Another poker movie is in the works.

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is like a slam-bang script that’s been passed around the mid-afternoon poker news world for years.

You can make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.

In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at Aaron Sorkin finally getting the green light for adapting Molly’s Game, the prospect of early WSOP start times and very unusual Antonio Esfandiari prop bet.

1) Sorkin to Direct Molly’s Game

It looks like it’s finally happening.

After years of controversy screenwriter Aaron Sorkin is going to get a crack at directing Molly Bloom’s memoir about the Hollywood poker game she ran.

It’s actually the first time Sorkin, who won an Oscar for the Social Network screenplay, has ever directed as he usually sticks to writing.

Molly’s Game appears to be a bit of a passion project for Sorkin as the Sony email leak indicated that he pushed Amy Pascal to move forward with the movie on numerous occasions.

One thing that’s still unclear about the adaptation is how exactly it will tackle the numerous celebrities that were featured in the game including Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio.

It seems highly-unlikely the A-list actors would play themselves in an underground high-stakes poker game.

2) WSOP Ponders Early Starts

Poker players getting up before noon?

It seems far-fetched but that’s what the WSOP appears to be contemplating according to Twitter:

We’ve been on the ground at every WSOP since 2005 and we’re not against nights that end one hour earlier.

The 11 a.m. start might be a bit tough to swallow but having events end slightly earlier might even lead to a little more coverage from mainstream media.

So far the early starts are crushing with over 80% of the vote.

What do you think though? Be sure to Tweet at the WSOP and give em your thoughts.

3) Antonio Esfandiari “Lunges” into PCA

This is hilarious.

Antonio Esfandiari apparently lost a prop bet against Bill Perkins at the PCA and will be forced to “lunge” everywhere he goes for the next 48 hours.

Heading to the convention center at Atlantis to play a tournament? Lunging. Going to the bathroom? Lunging. Dinner? More lunging.

We’re begging anyone at the PCA to capture video footage of this glorious prop bet.
