Daily 3-Bet: Bank of Timex II, Quality Kid Poker, Limitless Debut
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is the spicy Salsa Picante in the stuffed-to-the-brim mid-afternoon poker news burrito.
You can always fire suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at the new Bank of Timex, 2017 goals for Daniel Negreanu and a brand-new zero-to-hero online poker story.
1) Poker Shares Goes Live
Remember when Mike “Timex” McDonald briefly attempted to open a bank, which was really just a place punters could place bets on poker players performance in tournaments?
It’s back. Only this time around it’s called PokerShares and it’s been expanded to include pretty much any bet related to poker.
You can actually head over to PokerShares right now and get pieces of players from a variety of tournaments including the PCA $100k Super High Roller.
Daniel Negreanu is actually one of the cheaper players and you can get 1% of Kid Poker for $1,050.
That might sound like a lot but if you extrapolate that to last year’s first-place prize of $1.6m you’d be taking home $16k if Negreanu went all the way.
There’s plenty of other PCA tournaments available for wagering as well as the Sunday Million. You can even request a bet.
It’s an intriguing business model and we’re looking forward to seeing how it expands in 2017.
2) Daniel Negreanu Aims for November Nine
New year = new goals.
As usual Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu posted his annual list of goals for the upcoming year to his Full Contact Poker blog.
Negreanu wrote that he’s going to focus on quality instead of quantity this year with just eight goals instead of the usual 10.
This comes after a decidedly down year for Negreanu in 2016 where he only recorded $302,452 in live tournament earnings (well short of his goal of $2.5m).
So here’s a look at his eight poker goals for 2017. For our money #8 is certainly achievable. #6 is gonna be tough.
1. Cash for $2.5m
2. Win 3 WSOP bracelets
3. Cross 100 cashes mark at WSOP
4. End the year #1 on all-time money list
5. Win WSOP POY for a third time
6. Make the November Nine
7. Win $250,000 playing cash
8. Produce more content for poker fans.
3) Online Pro “limitless” Rises to High-Stakes Royalty
The dream of going from micro-stakes poker to high-stakes in a few years is supposed to be dead.
It’s just too hard these days. The games are too tough. Everyone is solid.
Try telling that to online player “limitless” (real name Viktor) who popped on Joe Ingram’s Poker Life Podcast yesterday.
Viktor, born in Belarus, now living in Poland, started playing online poker in 2014 after tearing his ACL playing professional handball. He’s now playing $50/$100 and one of the best young online players in the world.
Keep on eye on this guy.
