Daily 3-Bet: Aussie Millions Baby, Irish Open Reboot, Jenga Pros
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is like having all three orange properties in the mid-afternoon poker news game of Monopoly. That's the secret to winning the game, you know.
You can make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at an Aussie Millions baby being born, the epic Irish Open getting set to return and poker pros taking on Jenga.
1) Pregnant Woman Swaps Out of Aussie Millions
Well this is a new one.
Apparently earlier this week a pregnant woman named Katrina Sheary went into labor while she was playing Event 1 $1,150 No-Limit Hold’em.
Katrina obviously couldn’t play so Crown Casino allowed her husband Peter to substitute in.
We’ve never heard of a player being allowed to swap in a poker tournament but it’s actually allowed according to the Crown Casino’s terms of service as long as the player didn’t already play in the tournament.
It’s obviously at the tournament director's discretion but he decided to allow it this time around.
The husband Peter went on to finish in 25th place for $6,495. That will buy a pretty sweet crib for the newborn if nothing else!
h/t to @Kevmath for the story.
2) €500k GTD Irish Poker Open Set for March
The longest running tournament in Europe is set to return March 21-28 to the Citywest Hotel in Dublin.
This time around the Irish Poker Open will offer a €500,000 guaranteed prize pool along with 32 side events.
Last year Greek poker pro Ioannis Triantafyllakis outlasted 321 players to secure the €209,500 first-place prize.
Satellites for the long-running tournament are already running on Paddy Power Poker.
Hopefully no one slowrolls an Irish poker legend this time around:
3) Poker Pros Get Stacked with Jenga
So some NBA players have swapped poker for a modified version of Uno but poker players are turning their sights on another game usually played by children.
Poker blogger AlCantHang snapped a series of photos of Jonathan Little, Michael Mizrachi and several other poker pros involved in a big game of Jenga while on break from the WPT Deepstacks event being held in Florida.
No word on the stakes involved but these are poker players so we’d expect at least a little action.
So should we add Jenga to the 2017 WSOP schedule? Poker players do love to stack things.
