Daily 3-Bet: $5m Bahama Bryn, Aaron Paul TV, Cursed Chess

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a pesky knight, a marauding bishop and a surprising sense of evil lurking in the afternoon poker news French Defense.

Have something you'd like to see in a future 3-Bet? Tell us in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Bahama Bryn making bank again, Aaron Paul brings the heat on the PCSB live stream and Turkish chess players on their heels.

1) Bahama Bryn

Some poker players, like Phil Hellmuth, say, haven't seen too much success at the PCA. Some players, though, find the tropical/blustery conditions common to the Bahamas in January just right.

Bryn Kenney
Hot bowl of conch over here!

Put Bryn Kenney in the "just right" group.

Last year, at the final PCA ever, Kenney won the $100K High Roller for $1.68m and final tabled the $50K in 7th for $185k.

This year, at the first-ever PokerStars Championship Bahamas, Kenney switched things up and finished 7th in the $100k over the weekend for $275k and won yesterday's $50k High Roller for $969k.

All told Kenney has 10 career cashes at the PCA/PCSB for over $5m in cashes - almost 40% of his $13m live earnings!

That's a guy who's comfortable with conch chowder and $13 cappuccinos obv.

Kenney jumped in the Main Event today and busted quickly but with a couple more on-demand High Rollers on tap we expect him to boost those earnings even more.

Check the PokerStars blog for the full rundown on his $50k win yesterday where he defeated Mustapha Kanit heads-up.

2) OMGOMGOMG It's Aaron Paul!

If you've been following the PokerStars Championship Bahamas live stream today you know it's been the Cliff Josephy/Morris Dadoun show so far.

Josephy has racked up pot after pot for a 200k+ stack while Dadoun has bobbed and weaved his way up and down with some unpredictable - and bold - play.

It's been fun. And it's about to get even better.

On the feature table after the break is none other than Breaking Bad/Global Poker League star Aaron Paul, who built up a nice stack early in the day, lost a big one to a runner-runner flush but doubled up again to stay alive.

Outside of the GPL and the WSOP Main Event we haven't seen Paul play much poker so this'll be exciting to see if he can get some momentum going. We hope it brings in some new fans from outside of poker to watch, too. Get it while it's hot below:

3) Turkish Evangelist Has Weird Beef with Chess

You don't see the morality of playing Chess put under the microscope very often but that doesn't mean much to Turkish televangelist Ahmet Mahmut UnlU, apparently.

Chess 2
Not as innocent as first believed.

According to alarabiya.net, UnlU claimed in a recent video that chess players were "cursed" and that "playing chess is worse than gambling and eating pork."

"People who play chess are more prone to lying than others," UnlU added. "People who play chess may not say the shahada [declaration of Islamic belief] while they are dying.”

Which, first we've heard of it. The Turkish Chess Federation, as you might expect, is not amused. And has already launched its legal defense.

“The remarks of the person in question on chess in a video are unacceptable and have drawn a reaction from our community," said the Federation. Read more here.
