Casino Arizona to host State Poker Championship
The Arizona desert will soon be swarming with poker players as they head to Casino Arizona's Fourth Annual Arizona State Poker Championship.
The tournament is scheduled for Aug. 16-18, with play beginning at 9 a.m. on the first two days as competitors play down to a final table. Then the final-table players will return on Aug. 18 to finish out the event.
The Arizona State Poker Championship is considered to be the most popular poker tournament in the state. This year it is expected to bring 600 players from all skill levels to Casino Arizona.
An even bigger draw for the players this year is an increase in the prize pool, from $500,000 to $650,000. The prize pool amount is based on the full 600 players registering for the event.
If the tournament does fill to the brim, the top 60 players will walk away with some significant cash, and the champion will take home $193,500. The winner will also receive a championship ring and a trophy.
Second and third place could potentially earn $96,000 and $54,000 respectively.
The buy-in for the event is $1,000 with a $50 fee. Registration is open for the event and entries will be accepted until Aug. 16.
