Mickey Appleman is Still Fly

Since we’ve been coming to the WSOP in 2005 there’s one dude that’s always intrigued us.

That would be renowned gambler, poker player sports bettor and sports handicapper Mickey Appleman.

Appleman’s numerous accomplishments in the poker world include four WSOP bracelets, $1.7 million in live tournament winnings and four top 25 finishes in the Main Event.

He was also known as one of the most successful sports bettors in history, having successfully wagered hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Appleman was also a member of the infamous Mayfair Club in New York City where Dan Harrington, Howard Lederer and Erik Seidel cut their teeth playing poker.

None of this, however, is why we were interested in Appleman.

Instead, it was his incomparable sense of style.

It’s not often you see a 66-year-old Jewish man with Steven Tyler-esque hair, aviator shades and an athletic headband.

It’s been awhile since we’d seen Appleman and but we saw his headband from a distance in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em today and we ran over and snapped a shot.

We hope you never change, Mr. Appleman.
