Antonius Tops $1.7 Million in One Week
Patrik Antonius has been simply unstoppable since Full Tilt left the U.S. market earlier this month.
In the last seven days the famed Finnish poker pro played 2,278 hands and leapt up the online leaderboards by winning a staggering $1.7 million.
What’s more, Antonius did it against some stiff competition. Players like Gus Hansen, DrugsOrMe, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, Jens “Ingenious89” Kyllonen, Rui Cao and Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen have been very active in the $300/$600 6-Max PLO games.
It’s been an amazing resurgence for Antonius who just last month was down over $500k on the year.
Antonius, who is well known for taking breaks from the high stakes games, has been one of the busiest players on Full Tilt since online poker’s Black Friday and a big part of the reason the highest stakes games are still running.
As good as Antonius has been, his fellow Team Full Tilt Pro Gus Hansen has been bad.
The Great Dane fired off 6,954 hands over the last week but it was to no avail as he lost $1.1 million.
Hansen is still up $3 million on the year but the $4.8 million figure he was up to in the earlier stages of 2011 is just a memory.
Strangely Hansen followed a similar pattern last year when he jumped out to a $2 million profit in early 2010 but then dumped a great portion of it just before the WSOP and then lost all of it and more in the fall.
Hansen was definitely not the only big name pro to stumble in online poker over the last week, however. Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen (-$1.1 million), Ziigmund (-$236k) and FinnishNightmre (-$232k) all fell into the red over the last seven days.
Outside of Antonius, fellow Finn Jens “Ingenious89” Kyllonen was the biggest winner on Full Tilt this week. He pulled in $1.1 million that should go nicely with his 2009 EPT Copenhagen title.
Rui Cao (+$449k), ronnyr37617 (+$300k) and former professional Starcraft player Eunjong Byun (+$166k) were all amongst the top five biggest winners.
