WPT Global Expands $1 for $1,000,000 Tournament
The Summer Festival on WPT Global is entering its final week and two big events are still on the menu: the $1,000,000 gtd. Main Event and the $100,000 gtd. Mini Main Event. Originally, the final of the $1 for $1,000,000 tournament was also scheduled for this weekend, but the provider decided to extend the tournament by a month and a half to give more players the opportunity to participate. Players who had already qualified for Day 2 of the tournament will be given a ticket to the Summer Festival Main Event worth $330 by WPT Global as compensation for the last-minute schedule change.
New Schedule for the 1-1m Tournament
WPT Global announced it has decided, after careful consideration, to reschedule Days 2 and 3 of the $1 for $1,000,000 tournament. Day 2 will now take place on Saturday, October 1 and the final will be held on Sunday, October 2.
The provider gives two reasons for the new dates:
- They want to give as many players as possible the chance to participate in the event and play for their share of the $1 million prize pool.
- They are planning improvements to the software that will enhance the gaming experience on WPT Global, especially for tournaments with many players.
WPT Global stresses that the final is not postponed to avoid an overlay. The event was designed as a defacto freeroll with a guaranteed overlay of over $900,000 and even if thousands of additional players enter the event due to the new schedule, it will not make a significant difference in the cost with a buy-in of only $1.
To compensate for the inconvenience, WPT Global is giving all players who had already qualified for Day 2 of the tournament a free ticket to the Summer Festival Main Event worth $330.
Summer Festival Main Events this Week
This week's Summer Festival on WPT Global features the two Main Events.
The big Main Event has a buy-in of $330 and guarantees $1,000,000. There are several starting flights until August 20 and this tournament uses the best stack forward principle. Players can play multiple starting flights and continue to Day 2 with their best stack. Day 2 of the tournament will be played on August 21 and the final is scheduled for August 22.
Running concurrently is the Mini Main Event with a $33 buy-in and a $100,000 guarantee.
Additional Bonus During the Summer Festival
If players make their initial deposit at WPT Global by August 22, there will be an additional bonus. They receive a ticket for the Summer Festival for free.
Which ticket is awarded depends on the amount of the first deposit:
- $10 to $149.99: a $1 ticket to the $1 For $1 Million tournament
- $150 to $1499.99: A $33 ticket to the Mini Summer Main Event
- More than $1,500: A $330 ticket to the Summer Main Event
Depending on the first deposit amount this bonus is worth up to 22% of the first deposit. On top of that WPT Global offers their regular $1,200 first deposit bonus.
