The Joys of Staking at Americas Cardroom

The Joys of Staking at Americas Cardroom

You don’t have to be a top player to make a profit from online poker. In fact, at Americas Cardroom you don’t even have to play in a tournament to make money from it! That’s thanks to their Staking facility, which allows you to buy a stake of a player’s action in a Multi-Table Tournament. You can also sell a portion of yours!

Of course, poker fans enjoy playing poker, but it’s also fun to follow the fortunes of others, especially when we have a vested interest in their success. Staking someone affords us the luxury of being part of the action of a multi-table tournament when we might not have the time (or even the inclination) to play ourselves.

Meanwhile, it can also be a worthwhile venture to be staked by others, as this lowers cost and, in turn, variance.

How to Stake Another Player

Click the Staking button in the Main Lobby of the Americas Cardroom poker client and find (top left) the list of tournaments that allow staking. Selecting a tournament reveals the players offering staking, and here you’ll find all the relevant info, such as the percentage being sold (max 90%), how much remains and so on.

Simply enter the percentage for which you wish to stake the player for that tournament, check how much that will cost you, click Buy and you’re good to go! Note that staking percentages are approved 1% increments every five minutes, thus giving other players time to join in the process.

Note that if a player unregisters for a tourney you staked, you receive a full refund. There’s even a special Spin to Stake feature that means you can Spin to Win a Staking percentage!

How to Get Staked

Again, this is an easy process. Find the tournament you wish to be staked in, click on Sell Action and enter the percentage you’d like to sell plus the number of entries you plan on making. Note that in order to be staked with a markup over 1 it’s necessary to be verified and agree to use your real name.

So, there you have it – the thrills and spills of Real Money Poker tournaments and the chance of a tasty profit, all without having to play a hand yourself!
