Fortune Wheel Spin to Win

The Banco Casino personnel has not had much time to rest lately since there is one after the other major poker series being hosted at their casino in Bratislava, Slovakia. First up was the Swedish Championship where Niklas Holmström took down the Main Event for a prize close to €22.000, and where side events were won by Peter La Terra, Noelia Ivars Rico, and Andreas Höglund.

The Polish Poker Summer Cup was promised to be a great success and yet again it crushed the guarantee as 3,630 entries resulted in a total prize pool of €308,550. Unfortunately for Poland, the top-5 were all from different countries. Serbian Mario Skenderovic took home the trophy and €52,115 for the win. As of Monday 4th of September, the Coolbet Open will kick off and has the biggest guaranteed prize pool of all of them, with €300,000 up for grabs. PokerListings is present on location to take care of the live reporting.

Coolbet Open Comes to Bratislava

From the 4th of September, it will be yet another week of poker action at the Banco Casino in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Coolbet Open knows its 6th annual edition and is celebrating it in style as per usual. Already for months, online qualifiers have been open to all players from Coolbet Poker, and plenty of added value has been literally given away in addition to their famous Coolbet Passport finals, raffles, and competitions.

You can see on everything that Coolbet Open has got its poker heart in the right place. What better location they could have chosen for their next event, than the Banco Casino in Bratislava? There is simply no better destination in Europe for the moment in regard to poker, culture, and cuisine.

PokerListings will be covering the whole event, including their own PokerListings Deepstack tournament, behind held on Tuesday, September 5th. With a buy-in of just €250, there is plenty to fight for at the tables.

Highlights of the week:

  • € 550 Main Event (€ 300.000 Guaranteed)**
  • € 250 PokerListings Deepstack**
  • € 165 Coolbet Open 8-Game (6-max)
  • The € 1100 Coolbet NHL Masterclass (6-max)

** Live Coverage

Poker-SM Live a Great Success

The official Swedish Championship was held once again at the Banco Casino, where the poker rooms were promised to be colored blue and yellow. With approximately half of the poker tournaments only open to Swedish residents, the other half was available to all poker players, which resulted in big side events throughout. The Main Event, won by Niklas Holmström for roughly €22,000, and carries the official title of Swedish Champion for a whole year.

The High Roller event, open for everyone, was taken down by Slovakian Patrik Ciklamini for €13,000. Runner-up was kept in Swedish hands with Jonas Rosqvist, who took home €7,700. It was yet another success for the Poker-SM (Poker Swedish Masters), and most likely not the last event held in Bratislava.

Polish Poker Summer Cup Just Shy of Breaking Another Record

With 3,630 entries it has been a great Main Event for the Polish Poker Summer Cup. At the end of the previous year, they had slightly more entrants, so the expectations were set high for this one. Banco Casino was fully prepared with their well-trained staff to receive all the poker plays, mainly from Poland. The Main Event was unfortunately for Poland, not won by one of their own, but by Serbian Mario Skenderovic who took home the trophy and €52,115. It was only his second live poker cash of his career.

Plenty of side events were played out, including a Ladies Event. All of these events crushed their guaranteed prize pools easily. The Polish Poker Summer Cup organisation can look back on a successful event, being led properly by Banco Casino.

Here are the results of the final table of the Polish Poker Summer Cup:

If you have been watching the liveblogs and the live streams of the Estrellas Poker Tour through the official PokerStars channels, it would directly come to notice that Lucien Cohen was among the remaining contestants for the victory in the biggest live event in PokerStars history. With a record-breaking 7,398 entrants, the Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event will go into the history books.

Cohen dominated the road towards the final table and completed his run on the event’s penultimate day, securing the victory and the €676,230 first prize. The owner of a pest control company, carrying the nickname ‘’The Ratman’’, slaughtered his rivals towards his victory. The recreational poker player from Paris strikes once again in a grand Main Event, sponsored by PokerStars.

Cohen Dominates the Final Table

With 7,398 entries from 3,291 unique players, the €1,100 Estrellas Barcelona Main Event broke its own record for the biggest live tournament held by PokerStars. The top 1,109 runners shared €7,102,080 in prize money, and as mentioned before, it was recreational poker player Lucien Cohen from Paris who walked away with yet another trophy of a big event, as he won the Main Event of the EPT Deauville 12 years ago.

The 59-year-old Parisian, made it all look very easy at the final stage of the biggest live event in PokerStars history. With 30% of chips in play, on the day, prior to the final table, it was the famous Team Online PokerStars Pro Parker ‘Tonkaaah’ Talbot who bit the dust when his pocket Eights did not start up a come back from just two big blinds. The remaining players all secured themselves €136,850, and a place on the official Final Table:

Ferdinando D’Alessio30,100,00030
Danilo Velasevic40,900,00041
Ankit Ahuja32,200,00032

Final Table Action

The climax of the poker tournament unfolded in an exhilarating manner on the final day. Second-place finisher, Ferdinando D’Alessio, managed to secure a substantial €415,320 prize. In a pivotal hand, D’Alessio boldly executed a check-raise, pushing all his remaining 40 big blinds into the middle with the confidence of holding the top pair on a king-rich flop, with just 20 blinds in the middle. However, his hopes were met with a calculated call from Cohen, who held a king with a superior kicker. The tension escalated as the cards unveiled on the runout, ultimately favoring Cohen and solidifying his lead.

Petros Karadimos, displaying commendable skill throughout, clinched the €294,620 third-place reward. The turning point for Karadimos came when Cohen fearlessly called with a gutshot straight draw, only to complete the straight on the river. The heart-pounding moment not only turned the tide of the hand but also put Karadimos in a make-or-break situation. Despite the odds stacked against him, Karadimos bravely called off his chips, standing by his top pair in an admirable display of determination.

The fourth-place position, accompanied by a noteworthy €232,090 prize, belonged to Danilo Velasevic. Velasevic masterfully navigated a dwindling stack, making a valiant stand with an ace-six hand. However, luck was not on his side as he collided with Cohen’s dominating pocket eights, concluding his journey in the tournament.

Ankit Ahuja, a fierce competitor, bowed out in fifth place, taking home €177,810 for his remarkable efforts. The intensity escalated during a preflop showdown, with Ahuja committing all his chips with an ace-six hand. Unfortunately, his aspirations were dashed by Cohen’s resolute pocket sevens, leaving Ahuja to hit the showers.

Interestingly, the only elimination that didn’t stem from Cohen’s prowess came at the hands of D’Alessio. Avihai Smadga’s sixth-place finish came with a commendable prize of €136,850. D’Alessio’s calculated move involved a bold re-shove with an ace-queen hand, which triumphed over Smadga’s ace-eight.

You can enjoy some autumn sunshine and play for the lion’s share of €1 million this September with the latest partypoker Millions Malta freeroll giveaway.

The summer sun might be setting but partypoker will be lighting up Casino Portomaso from September 23 to October 3 with its first Millions event in Malta. The inaugural festival is set to feature a selection of low and mid-stakes events, including the €1 million guaranteed Grand Prix.

The €550 tournament starts on September 28 and those who register early can get discounted entry for €400. However, if that’s still too high much to pay, partypoker is giving away two prize packages worth €1,500 each.

Autumn Fun in the Sun at partypoker Millions Malta

Winning one of the two partypoker Millions Malta packages will be a challenge, quite literally. You can win your way to Malta via freerolls but, to gain entry to said freerolls, you’ll need to complete three challenges.

These challenges are only revealed once you’ve logged into your account and opted in. Naturally, this means you need to join partypoker if you’re not already a member. Once you’re registered, you can log into your account and complete these simple steps:

  1. Go to the “offers” page within your partypoker account.
  2. Wait for three challenges to be revealed and complete each of them before the deadline.
  3. Claim your freeroll ticket once you’ve completed the challenges.
  4. Go to the tournament lobby and register for the “Millions Malta Package” freeroll on September 10.

The top two finishers in the partypoker Millions Malta freeroll win a €1,500 prize package that includes:

  • A seat in the €550 partypoker Millions Grand Prix Malta
  • Five nights in a luxury hotel for two people (worth €700)
  • €250 spending money

With Malta’s average temperature topping 28ºC in September, partypoker’s latest freeroll promotion is a way for you to have some fun in the autumn sun. A chance to escape to summer climes is a great reason to ante up, but this freeroll isn’t all about winning a free trip to Malta.

Challenging but Not Impossible Challenges

Two players get a seat in the partypoker Millions Malta main event which has a €1 million guarantee. That’s certainly a prize worth playing for. But, as we’ve said, you’ll need to complete three challenges before you get a chance to play for a prize package.

The good news is that each challenge has a low stakes focus, which means they should be accessible to the majority of players. Even better, you’ll have two weeks to complete the challenges with the deadline being 22:59 CET on September 9.

It’s important to remember that you’ll only get credit for completing each challenge if you’ve opted in. Failure to opt in will mean you’ve not only wasted your time but missed out on a chance to play in the first Millions Malta main event.

As long as you opt in, the challenges you’ll need to complete before 22:59 CET on September 29 are:

  • Play 50 hands of FastForward (the minimum stakes must be $0.02/$0.05)
  • Play 10 SPINS games (the minimum buy-in must be $1)
  • Play three Multi-Table Tournaments (MTTs) (the minimum buy-in must be $1.10)

To recap: partypoker is giving away two Millions Malta prize packages worth €1,500 each. You can win one by completing three challenges and finishing among the two in the September 10 freeroll. That’s it!

Even if you’re not one of the two freeroll winners, partypoker Millions Malta will be a festival worth attending. The average buy-in is less than €500 and the schedule contains a nice mix of deepstack poker tournaments, mixed games, ladies events, and high rollers. So, whether you win a free seat or not, Malta is the place to be this autumn if you’re a tournament fan.

The World Series of Poker is ready to award 90 WSOP gold bracelets online. Well, it will probably be 90 bracelets, though only 74 actual WSOP tournaments have been announced so far.

WSOP Online is offering 33 gold bracelet tournaments on GGPoker for a diverse, international group of players in many jurisdictions around the world. There is also a schedule of 33 events for the largest of the United States markets, which is WSOP-dot-com for Nevada and New Jersey players combined. There is a WSOP site that works on a GGPoker platform in the relatively new market of Ontario, Canada, and those players will have eight bracelets available. And finally, there will be bracelet events for US players in Pennsylvania and Michigan – two separate markets. Judging by the Ontario schedule and past WSOP Online series, each of those two states on WSOP-dot-com will offer eight events.

That will make 90 WSOP Online bracelets.

WSOP Senior Vice President and Executive Director Ty Stewart commented on the WSOP Online becoming a highly-anticipated annual series. “We’re the ‘World’ Series of Poker,” he said, noting that players unable to travel to live WSOP events have a unique opportunity to play for bracelets online.

WSOP Online on GGPoker Underway

The largest of the WSOP Online player pools is on GGPoker as it operates internationally. Not only is GGPoker available in many parts of Europe and the Americas (except the United States), its Natural8 platform makes the series available in many parts of Asia as well. For all of those players, they have:

  • 33 online bracelet events
  • August 20 to October 2
  • $5K buy-in Main Event with $25M GTD (Day 2 on September 25)

In conjunction with the series, GGPoker is running a Continental Leaderboards competition to award its winner a VIP prize package worth $35K to the WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas in December.

The WSOP Online 2023 series begins on September 10 and runs for approximately five weeks. The only schedule available thus far is for the largest US state-regulated market of Nevada-New Jersey. The two states are linked by their multi-state online poker agreement and share player pools.

All players who make a WSOP Online final table in this series will receive a freeroll ticket for a special October 19 tournament with those five packages as the prize pool.

WSOP Online for PA and MI Still Unlisted

It is likely that the Pennsylvania and Michigan WSOP Online series will each offer eight gold bracelet events. This would be consistent with the series of the past and with the 2023 WSOP summer schedule.

For some reason, the WSOP PA site shows that series as scheduled to begin on October 15, when the other US series is almost finished. And the landing page on WSOP-dot-com shows that this series will offer $150K guaranteed.

WSOP Online PA-MI 2023

The WSOP MI landing page shows the same as for Pennsylvania, indicating that it, too, will guarantee $150K and start its action on October 15.

More information is (obviously) forthcoming.

The Estrellas Poker Tour is in full swing and it has been an incredibly popular event with 7,398 entries. With this record, the Estrellas Poker Tour breaks its own record which was set last year during the same event (6,313 entries). With the prize pool being €7,102,080 there will be an impressive amount ready for the winner of the whole event. The amazing stop of PokerStars with their European Poker Tour in Barcelona is every year a special event to look out for, but when records are being broken that hard, even PokerStars will clap in their hands. Never before, a PokerStars-sponsored event has been that massively attended. Many big names came down to Barcelona, and quite some of them went through to the second day of the event.

Chip Leader is Recreational Player Benjamin Tessier

Benjamin Tessier is leading the way as Day 2 kicks off with the chip lead, having dominated on Day 1G with a stack of 1,016,000. Christian Sargues (647,000) and Dalibor Mijic (605,000) lagged behind as his closest competitors, trailing by a considerable margin. In the swift-paced Day 1H turbo flight, PokerStars Ambassador Parker Talbot emerged with a substantial stack of 539,000. Only Philippe Le Touche (657,000), Thomas Pearn (576,000), and Grigorii Rodin (539,000) managed to outshine him in chip counts.

Hailing from 86 different countries, the players converged in this record-setting poker tournament. France once again asserted its dominance with 559 players, constituting 17% of the total field. Strong showings also came from Spain (426) and Italy (375). Other notable countries included Romania, the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK, each contributing over a hundred participants.

Estrellas Poker Tour

Estrellas Barcelona 2023 Main Event redefines the landscape of PokerStars history by becoming the most colossal live tournament ever. In an extraordinary turn of events, Barcelona has etched another highlight into its illustrious EPT chronicle. A staggering 7,398 participants have converged, as the Estrellas Main Event transcends its prior year’s milestone to establish itself as the largest live tournament under the PokerStars banner. With an annual €1,100 buy-in, a grand prize pool of €7,102,080 has been emerged. Play will resume on Day 2 on Friday 25th of August at 12 p.m. CEST.

With several other tournaments to start today, there is plenty more to play out there in Barcelona. The Estrellas Poker Tour High Roller is also a very popular event, and we are certain it will break records as well. Alongside the Estrellas, the EPT will also boost up their events with several High Rollers on the schedule, and from Sunday onwards, the €5,300 EPT Main Event will kick off. Stay tuned for an action-packed long week of poker!

With a history spanning over a decade, this tournament has solidified its reputation as the crown jewel of PokerStars Live events. The 2023 edition has not disappointed, drawing an impressive combined total of 4,431 entries across its first several flights it is a good indicator for the grand European Poker Tour which gets played out after the Estrellas Poker Tour.

Barcelona is the absolute hotspot of poker when it concerns the EPT, and as the end of the summer is coming close, we expect record-breaking numbers yet again. Who will be the successor of Dutchman Rick van Bruggen, who won the Main Event of the Estrellas Poker Tour back in 2022 for €600,000? And who will win the majestic EPT Main Event and follow-up Giuliano Bendinelli, who bested the 1,686 entries field for close to €1.5 million?

Barcelona Poker Paradise

The PokerStars EPT Festival in Barcelona has commenced, marking a significant moment in the world of poker. This year’s event has started in a familiar fashion with the Estrellas Poker Tour preceding the EPT, setting the stage for what promises to be a record-breaking series of weeks ahead. Already, the tournament has seen five victors emerge: Justin Saliba, Mathias Duarte, Alejandro Lopez Ikwat, Felipe Ketzer, and Bulgarian sensation Atanas Malinov. These triumphs foreshadow an unforgettable chapter in poker history, and show that Europe needs to step up their game against the South Americans!

As the Estrellas Poker Tour 2023 progresses, the upcoming schedule reveals an exciting lineup. Over the next two days, three additional opening flights are scheduled, leading to their culmination on day 2. The competition will unfold until August 27th, coinciding with the opening day of the EPT Main Event.

Highlights

While the Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event holds immense allure, it’s merely the start of the excitement. The EPT Barcelona 2023 showcases a diverse array of high-stakes contests, notably including the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller, the €2,200 Estrellas High Roller, and the prestigious €5,300 EPT Main Event. Catering to players of various skill levels, PokerStars consistently provides an unparalleled poker experience.

Beyond the intense battles at the tables, participants have the chance to immerse themselves in a range of captivating activities orchestrated by PokerStars, highlighting the splendour of Barcelona. From serene catamaran excursions to informative city bus tours, topped by the much-anticipated EPT Player Party, there’s an abundance of entertainment awaiting players on the sides of the poker tables.

Giuliano Bendinelli

So what does a victory in an EPT Main Event to a player? In the case of the Italian poker pro Bendinelli not much, when looking at his results. Of course, he might have bricked every single poker tournament around, but for poker professionals, these kinds of results are a very good indication of where they have been spending their time after big scores. But to say that the Italian pro went out of line after his great win? We don’t believe so.

Giuliano Bendinelli holds a special record, namely winning the biggest EPT Main Event in history. A lot of other Italians are in the top ranks of the poker industry such as Dario Sammartino, Mustapha Kanit, Dario Minnieri, and Max Pescatori.

Will we see another Italian winning it all this year in Barcelona?

The team at Olympic Casino in Tallinn has now released the full schedule for the upcoming World Series of Poker Circuit event in Tallinn, September 14-24, and it is not letting us down.

The 52-event (!) packed schedule is catering for us PLO and Mixed Games geeks, put aside the 12 ring events where the Main Event has a groundbreaking €1.000.000 guarantee you´ll also find various tournaments that has guarantees.

You´ll find several satellites to the Ring events so you can make your way into to the expensive buy-in tournaments for much less. Make sure to check out the schedule and mark the dates in your calendar. Although the satellites guarantee 10 seats in most of them you can expect way more seats to be generated through these feeders.

Side Events En Mass

The Circuit starts off with a very Olympic-Casino-classic Open Face Chinese Pineapple with a buy-in of €150 and a player friendly structure with 30min levels and a 20k stack. As per usual, the final table is played 3 handed.
We look forward to an invasion of Finnish players to this event ladies and gents, don´t get fooled by their innocent appearances – they are in it to win it. For POFC veterans there is another one in the schedule come Saturday 16th that has a €350 buy-in.
On top of the various PLO 4 & 5 and 6 (!) tournaments with buy-ins from €150 up to €555 almost every day, you´d of course expect the ever-so popular casino for Scandi´s to offer a Sviten Special tournament right?
Well of course, it´s on the menu as well.
The two-games-in-one variant based on PLO5 and 5 Card Draw is extremely popular in Sweden and the game is played in several parts of Europe, you can see and hear about it being played at home games and at land based casinos since it appeals to many experienced players. Like all mixed games It requires some skills and not everyone like to play Texas No Limit Hold’em.
After all, it is 2023. The modest buy-in of €250 is believed to be welcomed by many… less experienced players as well. You´re welcome friends, you´re bound to start sometime, right?

If you´re into Mixed Games then you´ll find H.O.R.S.E. (Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud High & Seven Card Stud Hi/ Lo Eight or Better) and a very special Finnish variant of 5 Card Stud which is called Sökö.

We suggest that you brush up your knowledge with the mixed game variants by looking at our poker rules page.

Bounty Tournaments

Well, every poker festival nowadays has some sort of bounty tournaments in the schedule and the WSOPC Tallinn event is no different. You´ll find PLO45 Progressive bounty with a €300+200+55 buy-in (€555) and yes, of course, the schedule has Texas Progressive Bounty tournament as well, one of them has a €600+400+100 buy-in (€1100).

The €555 Myster Bounty tournament is a two day event and will surely be extremely popular amongst the players at the event. You can see the popularity rising across the globe and it´s no understatement that these type of bounty tournaments are here to stay.

However, Mystery Bounty tournaments compared to Progressive Bounty tournaments has totality different strategy, you should check Dara O´Kearney’s take on Mystery Bounty tournaments and then read up on Progressive Bounty tournaments.

Ring Events

As we´ve mentioned before in several articles, the inaugural WSOP Circuit event has 12 ring events including Deuce to Seven, PLO45, 8-game, PLO Hi-lo and several Texas variants including a Mystery Bounty as well. There are several satellites to these events during the 10 day long poker festival in Tallinn but you can already qualify to the Main Event with the whopping €1 Million guarantee.

Olympic Casino is hosting live satellites at their land based casinos in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, if you´re in the neighborhood – you should fire away a bullet or two.
Check out the satellites down below:

Also, not to forget, Olympic Casino is part of the Olympic Entertainment Group which owns Olybet so you can also qualify online on Olybet and there are already a bunch of daily sats just waiting to be won. More than 100 seats to the Main Event is up for grabs! Find out more about the Mission: WSOP-C Tallinn here.

The poker world is buzzing with excitement as the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS series is back in action! From September 23 to October 3, all eyes will be on the Portomaso Casino in St. Julian’s, Malta, where the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Malta festival will take place. The star of the show is the Grand Prix Malta event, where players can win from a jaw-dropping €1 million prize pool. To put it in perspective, the last Grand Prix in Bratislava had a €500,000 prize pool. This time, the stakes are doubled, promising big rewards for winners. And of course, the €3,000 MILLIONS event is one of the flagships in Malta, alongside the €5,300 Hydra High Roller event, which are both multi-day events. We from PokerListings, will be present on the spot, to provide you with all the updates of this glamorous event!

Grand Prix Bratislava a Success

As mentioned before, the partypoker Grand Prix event in Bratislava has been a huge success exceeding the guaranteed prize pool with a big chunk. Eventually, it was the Greek Alexandros Dimogiorgis who took home €102,000 and the title, after making a heads-up deal with German Dillan Bruce (€93,000). The third-place finisher, Hungarian Andras Balogh, gathered a nice €47,000 just coming in short of the trophy and the fame but definitely doesn’t look bad with regrets on the event.

Andras mentioned to us: ‘’Poker in Bratislava is growing so fast and for us Hungarians it’s just a short journey. Having found a bag twice during the Main Event (the first bag was 15bb, the second 45bb), had cost me another buy-in, but definitely paid off eventually. With ups and downs throughout the event, from 4 big blinds to coming in at the Final Table as second in chips, and then finishing 3rd. I take it, But you know as they say: Next time!’’.  When we asked him if he would come back for the partypoker MILLIONS event, he confirmed right away to be there for the full ride.

€550 Grand Prix Malta

One of the most captivating aspects of this poker extravaganza is the Grand Prix Malta event, a highlight on the schedule that boasts a staggering €1 million guaranteed prize pool. To put this into perspective, the recent Grand Prix Bratislava featured a €500,000 guarantee, which was exceeded when the total prize pool reached €542,690. Now, with double the guaranteed amount, the Grand Prix Malta is poised to offer a prize pool that is bound to attract seasoned pros and ambitious amateurs alike.

But what truly sets this tournament apart is the exciting online qualifiers that allow players to turn a small investment into a shot at the million-euro prize pool. Partypoker offers various satellite poker tournaments with buy-ins starting from an astonishingly low €0.01. These qualifiers provide an incredible opportunity for poker players of all levels to secure their place at the tables in Malta and compete for a piece of the massive prize pool.

The journey to the Grand Prix Malta begins with two online Day 1s held on partypoker. The first of these took place on August 6, and it witnessed six players out of the 43 entrants advancing to the live Day 2 with a guaranteed €900 min-cash in hand. For those who missed the first online Day 1, fear not! The second online Day 1 is scheduled for September 3 at 20:00 CEST, offering players another chance to secure their spot at day 2 online.

Early Bird Availability

As the excitement ramps up, the live Day 1s are set to kick off on September 23. An enticing incentive awaits those who decide to jump into the action early: both Day 1A and Day 1B can be entered for the reduced price of €400, a €150 savings compared to the other flights. The proverbial early bird certainly catches the worm in this case, and players have the opportunity to maximize their value by taking advantage of this special offer.

In total, there are eight live Day 1s leading up to the crowning of the Grand Prix Malta champion on October 3. These starting flights offer diverse options, catering to players’ preferences and schedules. Regardless of whether you’re a seasoned high roller or a newcomer to the tournament scene, there’s a spot for you at the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Malta event.

€3,000 partypoker MILLIONS + €5,300 Hydra High Roller

With an action-packed schedule that includes a variety of events ranging from the €60 Grand Prix Satellite to the prestigious €5,300 Hydra Entertainment High Roller, the MILLIONS Malta festival truly has something for everyone. Poker enthusiasts can choose from events with buy-ins that suit their bankroll, and the allure of becoming the next Grand Prix or MILLIONS champion adds an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings.

PokerListings will be present in Malta as well, where we will provide you with all the action and stories behind the scenes from this iconic partypoker MILLIONS event at the Portomaso Casino, located in the lovely St. Julians.

The Global Poker US Poker Open (GP X USPO) is quite literally open for business. Kicking off on August 21 and offering a plethora of prizes until September 3, this is a golden opportunity to play for coins, crowns, and much more!

The Global Poker US Poker Open is all about Gold Coins, as you’d expect. This year, the organizers have gone all out with a series guarantee topping 757,000,000 gold coins. There will also be 1,515,000 Sweeps Coins spread across a variety of MTTs, including a 250,000 guaranteed main event.

US online poker players with access to Global Poker can enter 66 tournaments between August 21 and September 3. Each tournament has prize pools made up of Gold Coins or Sweeps Coins, and winners get trophies, apparel, and special GP X USPO prizes. That’s great, but this series is about more than individual prizes.

Consistency is the Key to Big Wins in the GP X USPO

Yes, winning a Global Poker US Poker Open event get you coins, a shiny trophy, and the respect of your peers. However, for all the individual accolades up for grabs, consistency is the key to winning the biggest prizes this series has to offer. To put it in a slightly more philosophic way, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

What does that mean? It means that the most consistent performers will earn a spot on one of two GP X USPO leaderboards. One leaderboard is for the top Gold Coin winners, the other is for Sweeps Coins winners.

Players who finish in the top ten on either of the two leaderboards will bag themselves some Global Poker swag, including apparel and Golden Scrimmage tournament tickets. For the top players in both categories, extra prizes await.

US Poker Open Leaderboard Champ Gets Las Vegas Getaway

The player who finishes top of the Gold Coins leaderboard gets a GP X USPO Champion’s hoodie and apparel, the Golden Crown Trophy, and five Global Poker Golden Scrimmage tournament tickets. That’s a generous bundle of prizes, particularly if you can turn Golden Scrimmage tickets into Gold Coins.

However, the star prize is over on the Sweeps Leaderboard. The player who finishes top of this leaderboard wins a luxury trip to Las Vegas! No, that’s not a typo, one player from Global Poker can win a trip to Las Vegas. Once there, they’ll get to visit the famous PokerGO Studio where the live version of the US Poker Open takes place.

As well as $5,000 to cover expenses, Global Poker will give the leaderboard winner a trophy, a framed US Poker Open table felt, a champion’s hoodie, and a check for $5,000. This prize bundle alone should be the reason US poker players ante up on Global Poker over the next two weeks.

Of course, topping the Sweeps Coins leaderboard won’t be easy. However, with plenty of individual tournament prizes up for grabs, including the chance to have an event named in your honor, there’s a lot to look forward to in the 2023 GP X USPO.

To see the full schedule of GP X US Poker Open events and play for a $5,000 trip to Las Vegas, eligible players can click here to join Global Poker today.

Whether you call them a maniac, a “purple tag’ or a crazy poker player, there’s a good chance you’ve encountered them in your cash game journey. Their strategy has no rhyme or reason, they just click buttons at a whim. As Alfred says in The Dark Knight, “Some men just want to watch the world burn.” I sometimes think he was talking about poker when he said that.

It’s late on a Thursday night, I’m sitting in a poker room in Sheffield, and it’s the only cash game running. What was a slow, steady £1/£2 game would essentially be doused in gasoline within the hour.

An unknown guy sits down, and a regular player at the table decides to throw on the £5 straddle to raise the game’s energy. The same player would be in his straddle versus the unknown player and would 3-bet the £15 open to £60. A snap jam would go flying back in his face for £300, and he would respond back with a snap call. The table suddenly jerked awake. What kind of cooler was this?

Poker Diaries Meme 2023

A boring Jack-high board would be dealt out, and the snap-jammer would flip over Ace-Jack offsuit, and the regular would turn over Ace-Queen suited in disgust. There’s never any justice in poker. Suddenly, the table was wide awake, and I’m pretty sure we all had the same thoughts at that point.

What Makes a Manical Poker Player?

There’s a big difference between someone who is crazy at the poker table compared to a “red tag” aggressive player or a “blue tag” fish/whale. The red tag will often lean towards aggressive action, and there will be some basis for this, regardless of how well or poorly it works out for them. The blue tag will be making confusing plays often, but the net negative outcome of these is something you are not concerned about, as the chips will generally flow into your stack.

A purple tag is a player who is capable of doing anything at any moment, and you will have no idea whether it is good or not. Their donk for pot could be a bluff, or it could just be with top set. They could defend their straddle with Kings, they could check-raise their absolute nut low for a 3x pot size.

Poker Diaries: Nero and the Great Fire of Rome

The only common thing for most crazy players is that they will inevitably run into a wall at some point. Their maniacal style of play will be their undoing, and there will be some wealthy recipients at the end. I give them the purple tag because they remind me of Nero, a crazy Roman Emperor who was “born in the purple”. This was something done for the royal family at the time, and typically, purple tag players will play as if they have this sort of bankroll.

Nero would have well-intentioned meanings behind his actions, like trying to abolish taxes throughout the Roman Empire or pushing an obscene amount of money into athletics and shows while his Empire dwindled financially. Rumor has it that he started the Great Fire of Rome to distract from his inadequacies as Empreror, and this feels like a good metaphor for a purple tag player.

What Happened When I Played a Pot With The Joker

I think that, especially in live poker, the loss of mental inhibition is addictive and spreads across the table. Not long after that crazy hand with the £5 straddle on, the game would morph into a £1/2/5/10/20 with an occasional £40 mega-straddle, like the lack of care for currency was seeping into the other players at the table. In fairness to me, I had a very fun player come and sit to my right in between me and the Heath Ledger poker player, and he was great for the game – I even got us a round of tequila to knock back.

Playing the biggest stakes of my life, I found T♥️7♥️ in the Big Blind with the £1/2/5/10/20/40 on, and after it folded round to me, I opened to £120 off my £900 stack. The fun player would flat, the purple tag would come along in the £10, and the rest would fold. We smashed the flop on a Q♠️T♠️7♦️ flop, and my pulse intensified. The pot had around £400 in it, and without too much thought, I slid in £150.

Not noticing the fun player only had £175  behind, he went all-in, and then the crazy player tank-called. I was unable to re-raise at this juncture, and I was swearing at myself in my head. We need to fade a spade and hope for a dry turn when I can get all the money in. I called. The pot ballooned to £925, and I sat about £500 effective with the crazy guy. The turn peeled the 2♠️, and I checked over to the man with the gun. When he threw out a bet of £90, part of me laughed. The other relished the great price he set, and I’m pretty sure the whole casino felt me praying for a Ten or Seven on the river.

Poker Diaries Poker Table With Chips

The river was an inconspicuous-yet-board-changing 9♦️ and checked in flow. He doesn’t take too long before putting his £410 into the pot of around £1,000, and now I am truly in the mental blender. Is this guy really crazy enough to bluff in this spot? He still had to beat my Tequila-drinking friend, but it didn’t take long before he threw a spanner into my thought process too. Just as I’m about to fold my hand, he stands up and walks away to the cash desk. Now what do I do?

I sit and think harder than I have ever done in a poker hand. On the surface, everything points to folding. He has flushes, sets, better two pairs, and even straights that just got there on the Q♥️T♥️7♣️2♥️9♦️ board, and I only really beat a select group of hands. In terms of mathematics, my hand is an east fold. But then I think about how wild this player is; could he just have AQ, KQ, and QJ here? I had seen him lose his mind in multiple hands, including calling a pot-sized river bet on a four-liner with just Four-High to chop.

I decided to revert back to the good poker play, the right one and slowly slid my hand into the muck. It felt like a dagger was staked into my heart when he flipped over K♥️Q♦️, with a face that expressed that he had missed some kind of value from me. “What the F****…” I mutter and put my hands in my head.

Batman Doesn’t Always Catch The Joker

Sometimes the purple tag gets away with it, and that’s fine. In the same way, the Joker often eludes Batman; it is something you have to naturally accept in poker. You can’t win them all, even if you feel like you deserve to.

I healed my wounds, learned how I could have played the hand much more optimally (like check-raising the flop), and somehow found pride in making the right poker play even if it meant I had to lose the biggest pot I have played so far.

I think the biggest thing that differentiates winning poker players from losing ones is their ability to be process-driven and not results-driven. The outcome will always fluctuate, but that keeps people like this purple tag player returning to the felt.

Make the right play, and the game takes care of itself. I really believe that. Till next time.

The poker world in Europe is buzzing right now, and for a good reason. After recently enjoying the delights of Triton Poker and the World Series Super Circuit in London, the WSOP is returning with its historic Circuit series to one of poker’s most beloved destinations in Europe.

Tallinn, Estonia, will be hosting its inaugural WSOPC stop, thanks to a partnership between Olympic Entertainment Group’s OlyBet and the World Series of Poker and GGPoker. This collaboration is a game-changer for European poker, and is bringing the biggest tournaments in live poker to Estonia this September. With over €1 million guaranteed in a Main Event and a plethora of tournaments for the everyman in poker, the opportunities to get a World Series of Poker ring have never been better for a European poker player.

A Mammoth Milestone for European Poker

A WSOP Tallinn stop marks a colossal moment in European poker, as the WSOP Circuit stops at the renowned Olympic Park Casino and the lavish Tallinn Park Hotel from September 14 to September 24. With the buzz already generating in Estonia and beyond, Gregory Chochon, the VP of the World Series of Poker, shared his enthusiasm: “The growth of poker is continuing in Northern Europe, and  we are delighted to partner with OlyBet to bring the excitement and passion of the WSOP Circuit Series to Estonia for the first time in the WSOP Circuit history.”

Get Your Hands on a Glittering Gold Ring

Everyone loves big tournament scores, deep runs, and an excellent addition to the Hendon Mob or Sharkscope. But what cannot be competed with in poker is the prestige of a WSOP bracelet or ring. You gain something you cannot get with them through other tournament wins. It’s a level of prestige, a mark in history, and a juicy $1 million freeroll tournament that only ring and bracelet winners can enter.

Win a Seat at the Tournament of Champions in Las Vegas

With over 12 rings on offer at this WSOPC Estonia stop, you have ample opportunities to win a seat in the Tournament of Champions Freeroll in Las Vegas during the 2024 World Series of Poker. This is a tournament exclusively open to WSOP silverware winners, so not only will you get to play for a bracelet and thousands of dollars, but you will also be mixing it up with some of poker’s biggest legends and winners.

Running around this incredible opportunity is over 30 WSOPC Tallinn side events, which will have all kinds of poker games- the true epitome of something for everyone when it comes to poker. We will see poker Estonia will remember forever, whether it is historic WSOP ring wins, innovative poker tournaments with huge fields, or even fun and memorable poker friendships being made.

The WSOPC Estonia Schedule is One to Remember

The starting pistol will fire at 12pm Estonia time on September 14 with a juicy €550 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament with four flights for players to get in the mix. But this is just the beginning of the poker Tallinn will experience, as there are a host of tournaments on offer between €350 and €1,100 in buy-ins, giving an opportunity to poker players from all different buy-ins.

There’s even a special online WSOP event that is €555 if you want to try and win a WSOP ring through WSOPC Tallinn at the online felt. OlyBet and the WSOP also know the biggest flavor of the month in poker, a Mystery Bounty tournament. This €660 buy-in event promises huge thrills and prizes; by just knocking one person out and opening an envelope, you could win as much as the overall winner of the event!

A Million Reasons to Play the WSOPC Tallinn Main Event

The pinnacle of this WSOP Estonia experience easily comes from the €1 million guaranteed Main Event. With a buy-in of only 1,500, so many poker players across the continent and beyond can fire at this mega event. There will be four flights, with one being played in a turbo structure. There is no bigger and juicer event coming up on the European poker schedule, so you should get booking your flights and accommodation and have a poker trip of a lifetime at WSOPC Tallin this September.

The 2020 World Series of Poker kicks of in Las Vegas on May 27th. With a time frame of more than 7 weeks and 100 tournaments this will be the biggest poker event of all times.

Similar numbers and packed tables are expected again this year. From the $400 Colossus-Event to the $250,000 Super High Roller, dozens of events are available for almost every bankroll. The inaugural WSOP Paradise schedule has been released and, after much anticipation, the organizers have revealed that there will be 15 bracelet events spread over 12 days.

Following another successful summer of action in Las Vegas, the WSOP announced its first winter series last month. Set to go head-to-head with the WPT World Championship, WSOP Paradise will run from December 3 to 14.

July’s announcement teased a $50 million guarantee. We were told the $5,000 WSOP Paradise main event would pay out at least $15 million, but the full schedule was kept under wraps. With interest in the winter warmer starting to simmer, the organizers have finally announced the events set to take place at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

Two high rollers will appeal to poker’s elite, but WSOP Paradise will have something for players at all levels. An $800 Flip & Go is a novel offering, while the $1,000 mini main event is a chance for those who can’t play the $5,000 equivalent to win a share of $1 million.

The small stakes events aren’t the only ways amateurs and aspiring pros can enjoy the first WSOP Paradise. GGPoker will be sending 1,000 qualifiers to the Bahamas. Those who qualify via an online satellite get help with travel expenses, an 11-night stay at Atlantis Paradise Island, their $5,000 main event entry covered, and access to a daily lunch buffet.

An additional 200 players will be sent to the Bahamas courtesy of the GGMillion$. Those who emerge victorious from that qualification route get an upgraded 11-night stay at Atlantis Paradise Island, help with travel costs, access to the buffet, and the chance to play one of two $25,000 events.

Crossover Innovations to Send Hundreds to WSOP Paradise

Adding to the number of poker players winning their way to Atlantis Paradise Island will be the Millionaire Maker.

The WSOP Online Series gets underway this month and there’s a $1,500 Millionaire Maker on the schedule. Anyone who makes it to the final 100 players of this event will step out from behind their computer screen, jump on a plane, and resume their quest for gold in the Bahamas.

WSOP Paradise will offer more than just fun in the winter sun. There will be a packed schedule of daily activities, including exotic excursions and parties. But, looking at the 2023 WSOP Paradise schedule, things are going to be just as fun at the poker tables.

PokerStars, one of the leading online poker operators, announced the schedule of the upcoming World Championship Of Online Poker 2023 (WCOOP). With an unprecedented $80 million in guaranteed prizes, of which $12,5 million is reserved for the three Main Events with a low, medium and high buy-in. Even though the competition has been stronger in the past several years for online poker operators, all grinding poker players out there still know how to find their way to, presumably, the most iconic online poker series out there.

When thinking of the ultimate poker tournament trophy, you have the bracelets for live events, and the COOP-titles for online events. The biggest plus for this online series is that you have three different buy-in levels per event and that mixed games are being put to the frontlines, making it interesting for any kind of player.

World Championship Of Online Poker:

The WCOOP will be happening from September 10 to October 4, 2023. During this time, there will be many poker games you can join, with different prices to enter. Some games cost as little as $5.50, and there are even some really big ones that cost $25,000!

One special thing about WCOOP is the “Power Path.” This is a way for you to earn tickets to play in WCOOP tournaments. If you’re good at poker or the luck is on your side, you can win your way to these events and have a chance to win big prizes.

The most exciting part is the three big main events. These are like the grand championships of the WCOOP. There’s the “Main Event-H” with a guaranteed prize pool of $6,000,000. Then there’s the “Main Event-M” with $4,000,000 guaranteed, and the “Main Event-L” with $2,500,000 guaranteed. These are the games where the biggest prizes are up for grabs.

Power Path Unleashed:

The recently introduced ‘Power Path’ passes can be redeemed for the WCOOP as well, giving you the ultimate online poker experience. For some, this path is not known yet, but it’s very much worthwhile to go out and explore because this is perhaps the easiest way of getting yourself into a tournament that you usually would not play.

All Bronze passes can be used for events with a buy-in of $109, for all other passes here is an overview:

Silver Pass Ticket Bundle 1:

  • 1 ticket for a $530 WCOOP tournament
  • 3 tickets for $215 WCOOP tournaments
  • 6 tickets for $109 WCOOP tournaments
  • 8 tickets for $55 WCOOP tournaments
  • 10 tickets for $22 WCOOP tournaments

Silver Pass Ticket Bundle 2:

  • 2 tickets for $1,050 WCOOP Main Event-M tournaments
  • 2 tickets for $109 WCOOP Main Event-L tournaments
  • 8 tickets for $22 WCOOP tournaments

Gold Pass Bundle:

  • 1 ticket for a $5,200 WCOOP tournament
  • 4 tickets for $1,050 WCOOP tournaments
  • 4 tickets for $109 WCOOP tournaments
  • 6 tickets for $55 WCOOP tournaments

Additionally, there’s a special Gold Power Pass priced at $10,300 that allows you to enter the highest-stakes WCOOP Main Event-H, which starts on October 1. This Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of $6,000,000. The other two Main Events also offer impressive guarantees:

  • $109 WCOOP Main Event-L: Guaranteed prize pool of $2,500,000
  • $1,050 WCOOP Main Event-M: Guaranteed prize pool of $4,000,000

WCOOP Schedule

The upcoming schedule boasts an impressive lineup of 12 World Championship events, each offering coveted Championship trophies. Among these events, you’ll find all your beloved games like Razz, 8-Game, and HORSE. An exciting addition is the Women’s World Championship event, scheduled for Saturday, September 30.

Furthermore, the excitement continues with an exclusive invitation-only Champions Freeroll on the first Sunday, exclusively for the triumphant participants of WCOOP 2022. This exclusive freeroll comes with the fantastic prize of 5 x $10,300 Main Event seats up for grabs.

The PokerStars WCOOP isn’t just an event; it’s a testament to the dedication and passion of poker enthusiasts worldwide. Prepare to be captivated by the allure of competition, the promise of glory, and the electrifying energy that courses through the virtual felt. As the world converges for this monumental celebration of skill and strategy, one question remains: Will you seize your name between the legends of WCOOP history?
