Fortune Wheel Spin to Win

Sure, June’s the month of summer vacation but for European soccer fans, it’s much more than that this year. In just a few short days, seven to be exact, the UEFA European Championship kicks off in Germany, literally.

While we’ve all been too busy putting on our battle colors, online poker giant, GGPoker has decided to get in on the action. In anticipation of the championship, the online poker room is launching its Pick&Go promotion aimed at poker fans both in Europe and beyond.

Since we can’t say no to a poker promotion that blends our favorite card game and the Beautiful Game, we’ve decided to take a peak at this promo and tell you a bit about it. Let’s go!

What Is Pick&Go?

At its core, the Pick&Go promotion is aimed at MTT players who also happen to have a soft spot for soccer. Thus, to come up on top, players are going to need both poker skills and a solid soccer foundation.

GGPoker Pick&Go Promotion 2024

Poker tournaments that are part of the Pick&Go promotion will be running on GGPoker simultaneously with the 2024 European Championship, meaning the promotion will be active for an entire month, from June 14th to July 14th.

There are no satellites for Pick &Go tournaments. The rake starts from the 8th%.

How Does Pick&Go Work?

While the promotion is running, online tournaments will be played at the same time as the soccer matches in real time. As a poker player, you first need to pick a tournament and register but here’s the kick – upon registration, you’ll be asked to predicting the winner of a soccer match taking place simultaneously.

Once the tournament starts, you’ll be able to see which of the two teams each of your opponents selected.

So, what’s the catch?

Remember when we said you’re going to need some soccer knowledge to survive – it’s going to come in handy when predicting the winner. See, during the tournament, players are going to be following the soccer action with a live scoreboard.

If your team loses, you’re out of the tournament regardless of the size of you chip stack. Only those who predicted the winner stay on and move on. In the case of a draw, all players at the table advance.

Buy-Ins for Pick&Go

To account for the issue of mismatches, GGPoker has come out with a new buy-in strategy.

Players planning to bet on favorites to boost their winning chances, will now face adjusted entry fees. Those betting on the underdogs will benefit from reduced buy-in costs. A standard $10 entry fee will be discounted in real time based on live match odds for each team, ensuring a fairer playing field.

After all, just think how lucky you’ll feel when your underdog comes up on top and saves you a pretty penny.

Pick&Go Schedule

Below you’re find the first few matches in the GGPoker Pick&Go schedule. For a full list as well as detailed Terms and Conditions, please refer to the GGPoker site.

The first week of June can mean many things, especially when it comes to the world of live poker. Still, for the folks over at Banco Casino, it means only one – the Spring Polish Poker Days are in full swing.

Officially kicking off last Friday, May 31st, the live poker tournament has been running for quite a few days now. For us, this translates to this – there’s a whole lot of chips, folds, and overall poker action to review and recap.

So, let’s not waste any more time!

Polish Poker Days Main Event 250,000€ GTD

If you’re at all familiar with the Polish Poker Days, you know this is a poker tournament known to break records on the daily. This spring should be no different. After all, Banco Casino’s partnered up with not only Legalny-Poker but KKPoker and WPT Global as well.

From the looks of it, the collaboration’s been more than fruitful. Just take a look at the Main Event. This spring, players are gunning for the 250,000€ GTD for just 130€.

Banco Casino Polish Poker Days Main Even Champion Trophy

Just yesterday (June 5th), Day 1C saw another 238 entries put their hats into the Main Event ring. Out of the bunch, only 24 advanced.

For the time being, Polish players Blazejewski Maciej Marcin is the chip-lead, followed (not-all-that-closely) by Zacharakis Emmanouil from Greece. With that said, there’s still a lot of hands to be played in the upcoming days and you know everyone loves an underdog.

As the cherry on top of the Thursday Sunday, there’s also the NLH Turbo to look forward to. The event has raised several eyebrows as its entry numbers exceed several hundreds. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this event!

Of course, apart from today, there’s still much to be played. From the Ladies Event taking place tomorrow to the fan-favorite Mixed Games (NLH, PLO4, PLO5) tournament on Saturday.

We’ll be back next week to check on the winners. Till that, follow us on social media and make sure you don’t miss a poker beat!

Who said the glitz and glam of Hollywood was reserved for the A-listers?

888poker doesn’t seem to think so; and to make this a moot point, the online poker room is coming out with its newest poker promotion – the Royal Premiere!

At the heart of it, the promotion is a special poker freeroll series that guarantees to pay out $300,000 in cash and prizes; easily making it the freeroll event of the season. Without wasting any more time, let’s get into the details.

Lights! Camera! 888poker!

The Royal Premiere – A Few Details

While the Royal Premiere has already hit the ground running, don’t worry – there’s more than enough time to try your luck. The 888poker promotion will be running through almost the entire summer, concluding only on August 18th. Until then, you have the chance to play your way into some epic freeroll tournaments, even those with a $20,000 prize pool!

The promotion is a three-fold affair; it comprises three separate freerolls, all just waiting for you to play your way into them. There’s the $500 Red Carpet Freeroll, taking place three times per day, the $4,000 Silver Screen Freeroll, played each Sunday, and finally the crème de la crème, the $20,000 Golden Era Freeroll, running only once each month.

To enter each of the three freerolls, you’ll need a ticket. Luckily, obtaining one is relatively simple. However, as each freeroll comes with it’s own set of terms, condition, and fine print, we’ve broken down everything you need to know about each one below!

$500 Red Carpet Freeroll

Think of the the $500 Red Carpet Freeroll as your appetizer.

The freeroll is running three times per day, Monday through Saturday; meaning this is the place you have the biggest chance of catching your (relatively) big break. To receive a ticket (up to three per day) for the red carpet, players need to complete any combination of the following daily challenges:

  • Poker Tournaments – play poker tournaments (including BLAST), with buy-ins totaling $5 or more
  • Sports Betting – place bets totaling $2 on any sports events
  • Casino Games – place bets totaling $2 in any casino games
  • Cash Games – win a cash game with any royal card on tables with minimum stakes of $0.01/$0.02

 $4,000 Silver Screen Freeroll

The $4,000 Silver Screen Freeroll is the second tier of this freeroll cake.

The freeroll will run once per week, every Sunday at 06:00 PM GMT. To earn a ticket to the silver screen, players will need to complete nine challenges during a calendar week. All the eligible challenges are listed below:

  • Poker Tournaments – play poker tournaments (including BLAST), with buy-ins totaling $5 or more
  • Sports Betting – place bets totaling $2 on any sports events
  • Casino Games – place bets totaling $2 in any casino games
  • Cash Games – win a cash game with any royal card on tables with minimum stakes of $0.01/$0.02

Just keep in mind a maximum of three challenges per day will be counted towards the weekly freeroll ticket challenge. In translation, players will need to play at least three days per week to make their way into the $4,000 Silver Screen Freeroll. The tickets you earn during the week will be valid for 14 days.

$20,000 Golden Era Freeroll

The most coveted Royal Premiere tournament of all, the $20,000 Golden Era Freeroll – it can’t be easy to secure a seat at the table, right?

Wrong. Just like the previous two freerolls, players need to complete one of the following challenges and grind their way into the tournament.

  • Cash Games – win five cash game hands (including Snap) with a pair of kings
  • Finish in the Money – finish in the money in three tournaments (excluding BLAST and freerolls)
  • Blackjack – win five games of Blackjack with a Jack

Since the Golden Era Freeroll will take place only once per month (three times in total), consider securing your spot ahead of time. The poker tournament will run at 4:00 p.m. GMT on June 22, and 6:00 p.m. GMT on July 13 and August 17.

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has been a cornerstone in poker history. The series started in 1970 and has been held annually for over 50 years, including during the global lockdown in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the years, the series has evolved to meet the modern needs of players, the popularity of poker, and the capabilities for organizing poker tournaments. We have compiled statistics for each WSOP event where a championship bracelet was awarded, and in this article, you will see the conclusions we have drawn from the comprehensive WSOP statistics throughout its history.

Prize Amounts

Since 1972, the buy-in for the main event of the series has been $10,000. From 1971 to 1977, the winner took the entire prize pool, and the distribution of prizes among several players began in 1978. If the “Winner-Take-All” rule had been in place until 2023, the 2023 WSOP champion Daniel Weinman would have received $100,430,000 in prize money.

Let’s see how the WSOP champion’s prize has changed over the years:

WSOP Main Event Prize Over the Years

If we base our calculations on the statistics from the past 10 years, the next linear value would be $8,777,561. Even if we exclude the unusual 2020 due to COVID-19, our calculations show a prize range between $9,051,947 and $11,113,262. Our expected prize is: $10,082,604.

Number of Players

The graph of WSOP Main Event participants shows several interesting facts:

WSOP Main Event Players Over the Years

First, we see a sharp increase that occurred in 2004. This moment is known as the “Moneymaker Effect.” It happened after Chris Moneymaker won the 2003 tournament, demonstrating to everyone how to achieve the “American Dream.”

Chris earned $2,500,000 in a tournament with 839 participants, while in the following year, 2004, Greg Raymer played in a tournament with 2,576 players and received $5,000,000. The growth from 2003 to 2004 was 207%.

This trend did not stop there. In 2005, Joe Hachem won the tournament with 5,619 players and received $7,500,000. This was a 118% increase in one year.

In 2006, Jamie Gold won the tournament with 8,773 participants and received a record $12,000,000 in prize money. This record stood until 2023! The player count increase of 56% indicates a gradual slowdown of the upward trend.

Since 2007, we see a decline in the number of players, which may be related to the adoption of the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006” in the US. The increase in players was linked to the popularity of online poker and the hosting of numerous satellites through which amateurs could enter the WSOP Main Event without paying the $10,000 buy-in. With the restriction of online poker, advertising budgets and the number of players in satellites decreased.

Another important moment was the WSOP 2020, which was held online with players separated by country, followed by two finals on different continents and a decisive heads-up. The number of players formally decreased, although more people wanted to participate in the online tournament. After the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, the situation began to improve. Since 2020, the series has added tournaments held online, so the total number of events continues to grow.

Number of Events

As you might guess, the number of tournaments in the WSOP series is growing, and future growth may be related to the addition of online events. Organizers are unlikely to extend the main series duration beyond 2 months, and the number of players who can physically be present in the casino at the same time is limited.

WSOP Events Over the Years

Another solution for the future of poker could be replacing the early stages of tournaments (which attract the most players and therefore require more tables and series personnel) with online play while maintaining offline play from the second or third day onward.

Offline or Online?

As we mentioned in the article about the organization of the 1970 WSOP, the series was created by Benny Binion to popularize poker and attract players to Binion’s Horseshoe casino. The idea of holding the WSOP offline dominated even during the online poker boom, but COVID-19 changed the world. We see a steady trend towards increasing the number of online tournaments and believe it will continue.

Note

We used official information about the results of the WSOP series from 1970 to 2024, excluding WSOP Europe, WSOP Asia Pacific, and tournaments held as part of the main series without awarding a bracelet. If you notice an error in the data, please let us know.

Patrick Tardif Joins WPT Global Roster

If you’ve been following WPT Global for a minute or two, you know their ambassador roster is full of A-list poker pros; and last week the poker room added another poker superstar to starting lineup, none other than Patrick ‘Egption’ Tardif.

The former Halo player turned poker player/streamer is already a favorite among fans, meaning he’ll be bringing in quite a bit of action to the poker room. This season, Tardif is also joined WPT veteran Xuan Liu, who has also decided to stay with WPT Global.

For everything the two had to say about their upcoming poker season, including a few comments from WPT Global President Alex Scott, check out the full article below!

Three Most Inspiring Cases of Charity in Poker

Often times, the poker world seems filled with glitz, glam, and grind; and yet, there’s another side to it. If you’d ask us here at PokerListings, we’d say the poker community is one of the most charitable out there.

With that in mind, last week, we took a closer look at the three most touching cases of charity from poker players. We worn you know, you better get your tissues ready.

Three Most Inspiring Cases of Charity from Poker Players

As always, for all the latest from poker, including highlights from the WSOP 2024 and the Festival Series in Rozvadov, keep an eye on our socials below!

Phil Ivey, Jon Van Fleet, Ethan Yau – these are just a few poker A-listers on the ambassador roaster for WPT Global. And as of this week, that list is longer (and richer) for another name – poker superstar Patrick ‘Egption’ Tardif.

As the online poker room announced, the beloved poker player and streamer is joining the team as its newest brand ambassador. While we expect Patrick to showcase WPT Global at the online tables and high-value tournaments every weekend, we’re not going to focus on that for the moment.

Rather, in this article, we’re going to introduce you to Patrick Tardif and see who else is staying on the WPT Global brand train!

Patrick ‘Egption’ Tardif – A Bit of Backstory

If you’ve been in the poker world for a hot minute, you’ve probably head of Patrick Tardif. After all, who hasn’t.

But in case you’re just joining the poker party, you’ll be surprised to know that Tardif actually began his professional career as a Halo player. However, he quickly transitioned to the poker tables, making a name for himself with runs in prestigious poker tournaments.

His regular and insightful streams only aided his his claim to poker fame. If you’d ask anyone of his 54.2K followers on Twitch, they’d probably agree that Patrick’s entertaining commentary and detailed hand breakdowns are what keep the viewers coming back.

With such success as a poker content creator, we can’t say it’s much of a surprise that Tardif ended up next to poker legends at WPT Global. He himself says that:

I am eager to join WPT Global as an ambassador. WPT Global’s commitment to innovation and delivering a world-class poker experience aligns perfectly with my passion for the game. I can’t wait to start connecting with the community and battle in the huge tournaments & cash games WPT Global has to offer.

While our excitement can’t surely match Patrick’s, we still can’t wait to see what he does next!

Xuan Liu Stays on as Brand Ambassador

Like we said in the beginning, Patrick Tardif isn’t the only WPT Global ambassador to make waves this week. Poker pro Xuan Liu also announced her decision to stay on as a WPT Global ambassador.

Based on her kind words regarding the brand, this decision is to be expected. As Lie says:

I am excited to continue my journey with WPT Global. The brand’s dedication to giving players the best possible experience and its innovative approach to protecting and enhancing the game have always resonated with me. I’m looking forward to another year of representing WPT Global and engaging with the poker community.”

Current WPT Global President Alex Scott waived in on the big news:

Having both Patrick and Xuan representing WPT Global is a tremendous honor. Patrick’s extensive experience at the top level of MTTs and his innovative approach to streaming is our brand. Meanwhile, Xuan’s proven track record and deep understanding of poker continues to inspire our community, bringing more players to the game and the WPT Global brand.

With this amount of enthusiasm coming in from all sides, we can’t wait to see what Patrick and Xuan bring to the table this poker season!

Polish Poker Days – A Bit of Backstory

Apart from Banco Casino, Legalny-Poker is the other brains behind the Polish Poker Days operation. The poker organizer has been based in Poland for a while, responsible for dozens of live poker tournaments around the country.

Four times a year, they head to Banco Casino to organize some of the biggest low-buy events in the live poker industry. The first one, the Winter Polish Poker Cup, ran from February 23rd to March 4th, 2024 – and ended with nothing short of a bang. This was also the first time Legalny-Poker partnered with both KKPoker and WPT Global for a live event; a collaboration that’s continuing with the spring instalment as well.

If the Winter edition was any indication, the Spring Polish Poker Days are going to be one for the history books!

To get a feel of the up-and-coming excitement, check out the video below!

The Festival Series offers poker enthusiasts a unique live experience, distinct from typical poker events. Known for its wide range of mixed games, hospitality events, and casino game tournaments, this series is designed for players seeking a mini-holiday in a poker paradise. Their first event of the year will take place from May 31 to June 9 at the renowned King’s Casino in Rozvadov.

In the past six months, players could qualify online through numerous of online operators. Coolbet, partypoker, Unibet Poker, Redstar, Betsson, Paddypower, Novibet, Grosvenor, Paf, Betfred; just to name a few. It was incredible to see how many countries were able to qualify online, especially considering other events mostly keep to one operator at the time.

The Festival Series Rozvadov will be their very first event of 2024, with the previous event dating back to November 2023, at the Banco Casino in Bratislava. Just looking at the first couple of events, we can see a drastic improvement compared to previous editions.

Take The Hendon Mob Championship as an example, going with a guaranteed prize pool of €200,000, for a buy-in of just €250. The Championship has been part of The Festival for a while now, but never it consisted of so many opening flights, let alone the whopping GTD.

Here at PokerListings, we’ll try and give the readers a taste of what will be going on in Rozvadov, with a couple of recaps, as well as videos on our social media. PokerListings, connected to The Festival Series since the very beginning back in 2021, will also host its very own tournament during the last days of the event, going by a guaranteed prize pool of €30,000!

Starters

So, what makes The Festival so unique? Hospitality events are one of their key ingredients of the series (Full Hospitality Schedule). Players who won a unique online package can participate in all side activities held around the clock. From grand restaurants to visiting a local brewery. Of course, we can’t forget about the infamous player parties planned during the weekends.

A new twist has been giving to this entire experience as well, as there will be a Fun Zone inside the casino. A zone where many games such as darts, foosball, air hockey, and FIFA, will be available for all players of the event to enjoy.

So, where’s the poker at? Well, there will be 65+ unique poker tournaments available to enter, an amount which you rarely (more like hardly ever) see elsewhere, especially considering most of the events are mixed games. We’ve already mentioned The Hendon Mob Championship, which actually will kick off the entire live event. With five starting flights, Day 2 will take place on Sunday, June 2nd.

There is another grand tournament available from the get-go with the HORSES Mixed Games Main Event, consisting out of Hold’em, Omaha, Razz, Omaha Eight-or-Better, and Sviten Special. A remarkable event, introduced and invented by The Festival Series itself during their previous live event in Bratislava. Other topics which start from the beginning of the event are ‘Franke’s Flips n Go‘ and the ‘Cash Game Challenge‘.

Main Course

King’s Casino is known for giving the Mystery Bounty tournaments an additional edge courtesy of their technology system. Through the entire poker room, players can check various screens and see if a player is pressing the button to reveal the Mystery Bounty prize. With a buy-in of just €300 and an epic total of €100,000 GTD, this event is a must!

Gabriel Rymar - Winner Festival Series Bratislava
Gabriel Rymar – Winner of The Festival Series Bratislava

The Main Event is what it’s all about durin live poker. The Festival sticks to the €550 buy-in they usually set for the event, as well as a whopping €500,000 for the guaranteed prize pool. A guaranteed prize pool is what makes an event like it is, and if you consider a minimum of 1,000 players is needed roughly to break this guaranteed, players can expect plenty of action during a total of six opening flights, a day two, and a final day.

Who will follow up Gabriel Rymar from Poland and take home something similar to his first prize of €80,000?

Desert

Poker is a game we all love, but is it physically possible to partake in so many live tournaments within just ten days of poker action? Surely not all, and that’s why The Festival Series offers a wide range of hospitality events. Players can enjoy a nice time off the tables, setting their minds to something other than cards.

While hospitality events are only available for package holders, the Fun Zone is available for literally all players of the event. On top of this, players can also grab one of the ‘outdoor games’ from reception, enjoy a bit of sun, topped with some healthy competition!

Good luck to all players participating the event, and enjoy your very own poker holiday!

Call it coincidence, but players from Finland tend to do super well in Bratislava, especially in the Main Events. It was no different this time, as Matte Karjalainen took down the event for €36,700, after beating local hero Jaro Holub in a heads-up duel.

During the World Series Of Poker in 2023, a young American managed to snag 11th place in the Main Event and secure a payday of $700,000. His name was Alec Torelli, pro poker player and founder of ConsciousPoker.com.

PokerListings already reported about these result last year but with the World Series coming up, we got a hold of Alec. In the upcoming weeks, we’ll dive into the world of Alec Torelli, poker player, business professional, and poker trainer on his channel ‘Conscious Poker’.

In the first episode, we’ve turn back time all the way to the roots of his poker career, including how he ended up turning pro and moving to Australia at such a young age.

While Torelli’s a well-known poker personality, what’s his superhero origin story? Let’s find out!

Melvin PokerListings: Hi Alec, it’s a pleasure to have you here. Last year, you managed to set a deep run in the WSOP Main Event of 2024, but where did it all start for you? What made you play poker? And what drove you towards the point of going professionally?

Alec Torelli: Hi Melvin, PokerListings, it’s great to be here. Let’s start from the beginning. So like many people from my generation that came up when watching Chris Moneymaker win the WSOP Main Event. Poker became cool. I was captivated by the sexiness of poker and the excitement, and all my friends were playing after school. So poker kind of became the cool thing to do.

I was 16 years old and was still in high school, and I was never really good at sports. I quit football my freshman year and didn’t make the basketball team either.

I may not have been competitive at sports, but won $12 my first time playing poker with friends. I feel in love with the game, felt in my element and believed early on it was something I could excel at.

This was my chance to beat all the jocks that crushed me on the field. I saw poker as a game I could finally be competitive at, one that I was missing in sports. I loved poker right from the start and fell in love after that first session.

I began playing in high school, with friends through home games. Soon the games got bigger and more serious, moving from $5 buy ins up to $20, which was a lot of money for us at the time.

When I started to play poker online, I realized all my friends were getting jobs to make extra income. I thought, “well, if I can make 50 bucks here, 20 bucks there, maybe I don’t have to get a summer job and I could just play poker instead!”

Not only did I intrinsically enjoy the game itself, but I just loved the idea that I could make money playing a game. Many of my friends played video games, which have little utility outside the game itself. Online poker was similar, except real money was at stake.

When I was 18 years old, I came to a pivotal point in my poker career where I realized I had to either quit school and play poker, or quit poker and focus on school. I couldn’t do both.

Alec Torelli Poker Career

Melvin, PokerListings: What made you decide to start playing poker in the end? As it’s quite a big decision to drop out from university, and put it all on red, let’s say.

Alec Torelli: It was actually a lot more calculated.

One Sunday, as I was staying up late to play online, I was foregoing social activities, I missed class because I ran deep, finishing around 5:00 am. I missed my economics class (again), and decided I needed to take a break from poker for a few days and really figure out my next steps.

I wanted to evaluate what I want to do next and really make a decision one way or another, because I felt half pregnant with both school and poker, neither getting the attention it deserves. I evaluated my options, and narrowed it down to either quitting poker and focusing on school, or taking a year off and giving poker a try.

It was a tough decision because quitting poker meant not playing again until semester break or during the summer. Or, I could take one year off of school and focus entirely on poker.

I decided that the asymmetry was to the upside for poker and to the downside for school. Because if I stayed in school and never played poker, I would always wonder “what if”. Taking a chance on poker was only going to get harder when I graduated because now then there are job opportunities and more social pressure. I kind of saw my life progressing quickly where there wasn’t space for poker.

Melvin, PokerListings: Poker seemed to be dominating your decisions at all times. Did you have the roll at that time to fully go for poker? Or how did that come together?

Alec Torelli: The conventional wisdom is that it gets easier to do things later because you’ll have more time, resources, money, or “fill in the blank”. But I realized that easiest time to do it was now because the least risk was taking one year off of school.

If I lost all the money I saved up, $20,000-$30,000 dollars, which of course is a lot of money for an 18-year-old, it’s not that much money in the grand scheme of the whole scope of your life. Sure, I could lose everything. At that point I’m one year behind everyone else in university. They’re a sophomore and I’m a freshman. That’s the worst that can happen.

But the upside is that I could travel the world. I could play this game I love, and become a professional poker player.

I can compete at a high level. I could live my poker dream, right? So the asymmetry was to the upside. The risk wasn’t that great and the reward was huge.

When I framed it like that, I knew what the right decision was and what I wanted, but the only thing holding me back was fear. And like in a poker hand before you bet it all on the river, knowing it’s the right spot, I knew I had to commit and go all-in.

Melvin, PokerListings: When looking at your live poker results over the years, one of the first registered cashes in a tournament goes back to 2007. Not in the US due to your age, but in Australia.

Alec Torelli: Yes! I moved to Australia when I was 18 because I couldn’t play in the States, and wanted to compete on the live circuit.

While I was there, I really excelled early on with a good run. I won the biggest tournaments in online poker at the time, and made a million dollars playing cash games in 2007. So I was one of the biggest winners on Full Tilt, which was the biggest site in the world at the time. That early success propelled my career forward at a young age.

In the next episode of the story behind Alec Torelli and Conscious Poker, we will go more into detail concerning his preferred poker games and what made him open a poker training site. Stay tuned for the next episode, coming online throughout the next week.

Mediterranean Poker Party 2024

We’ve been going on about the Mediterranean Poker Party (MPP) for a while now. So, when the final chip dropped last week, we were among the first to tell you what went down on the European poker island.

The poker seas were off to a calm start with the $1,100 Luxon Pay Mystery Bounty, where Aleksey Savenkov snagged the ultimate prize after dominating the final table. It was all smooth sailing from there, with Serbian Jovan Kenjic taking home the title of a lifetime at the $10,400 MPP High Roller.

After that, all that was left was the $5,300 Main Event. Accompanied with some Hollywood dramatics, it was Azamat Lamkov who took it home. The $125 Main Event qualifier went home with a total of $1,000,000 – talk about getting more than you bargained for!

WSOP 1973: The Triumph of Puggy Pearson

Last time we checked (in 1972 to be precise), it was Amarillo Slim who took home the title of WSOP champion. Unlucky for him, WSOP 1973 had other plans. Puggy Pearson was returning to Las Vegas with a vengeance.

The first cards were drawn on May 4 in a 7-Card Stud tournament with a $4,000 buy-in. The Main Event kicked off just a few days after on May 10th with some of the biggest names in poker ready to shoot their shot. With Amarillo Slim knocked out even before the top 10, the champion title was up for grabs.

But what exactly went down during the final table and how did Puggy Pearson come up on top – that’s for you to read and find out!

The Festival Rozvadov

The Festival Series is beginning its season in Rozvadov on May 31st, with qualifiers running around the clock for months. However, even as the even draws inchingly close, there’s still plenty of time and opportunities to qualify.

The Festival Rozvadov 2024

For one, both partypoker and Unibet still had qualifier tournaments running on their poker operators last week. For a full list of the places you can still qualify for Rozvadov as well as what to expect from the first run of the Festival Series, check the article below!

The Festival Rozvadov

The Festival Series will kick off their season at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov on May 31st. Qualifiers had been running already since the very beginning of this year, and it’s not too late yet! The event will host a €550 Main Event with €500,000 GTD, and 60+ other tournaments in different formats.

For the first time in poker history, The Festival Series will be held at the King’s Resort in Rozvadov. They have been organizing for three years already, and had stops in Tallinn, Nottingham, and multiple times in Malta and Bratislava. The event, mainly focused on games you usually won’t find on any tournament schedule, will turn Rozvadov upside down. Not only due to the big number of tournaments, but they also offer a hospitality schedule which will give players a completely different dimension as they used to experience at the poker capital of Europe.

Qualify yourself Online for Rozvadov

For a totals of six months, players from all over Europe tried to qualify online at one of the many operators The Festival is collaborating with. The iPoker network rolled out a grand promotion where 28 packages and 20 Main Event tickets were guaranteed within five weeks, a select number of operators which are making use of the iPoker Network also had their weekly final event with one package guaranteed every single week. On top of that, several casino operators such as Gamdom, also offered several packages to their community.

Two main online poker operators still have qualifiers running for the upcoming event in Rozvadov. Partypoker, has got daily feeder tournaments available, all going towards the grand final on Sunday. And Unibet even makes it more interesting to qualify online, as they offer two packages guaranteed every single week, allowing you to choose one of the 2024 stops of The Festival Series (Rozvadov, Malta, Bratislava).

You can find all information about online satellites on the webpage of The Festival Series.

King’s Casino preparing for Massive Mixed Games Extravaganza

The King’s Casino in Rozvadov is the place where every tournament series wants to be. With numerous of events being held throughout the year, King’s Casino is used to host a high amount of players. Federico Brunato, Poker Director at King’s Casino, recently had mention in an interview that The Festival is the perfect opportunity to offer something special and revelational to poker players in Europe. Where Rozvadov is not particularly known for having side activities next to poker, King’s and The Festival came up with an epic hospitality schedule for package holders. They will also have a great ‘fun zone’ for all players, which will be set up within the tournament area.

The hospitality package holders will be once again treated well at The Festival Series, with activities such as a Brewery Tour, Swimming outdoor, barbecue, and much more. For the full schedule, check out the webpage of The Festival, where every day of the event is not only packed with poker tournaments, but with great side activities as well.

Five Major Tournaments

The Festival is known for having tons of different tournament poker formats on its schedule, including mixed games which usually are not included in any live series around Europe. Games such as HORSE, Sviten Special, Pineapple, Stud, 2-7 Triple Draw, Open Face Chinese, PLO in different formats, are all included. Of course, Hold’em events cannot be missed, and still are available in big numbers. We have lined up the major events of The Festival Rozvadov:

When it comes to European poker, Banco Casino is the place to be. The Banco Casino Masters kicked off its 39th edition on Monday, May 13th and for us this can only mean one thing – it’s time to check in and see what’s gone down this week in Europe’s hottest poker capital.

As you’re all probably well aware, the 39th edition of the Banco Masters is coming to Batislava in with an overall guarantee of 250,000€ and a buy-in of (only) 170€. However, this is just some preliminary information. It’s time to see what went on during the week and what we’re expecting to go down over the weekend!

Banco Masters – The Weekly Highlights

With the live poker tournament starting over five days ago, quite a bit of action has already gone down at Banco Casino.

The first three days alone saw 353 entries, with even more expected during the weekend. Out of the bunch, only 36 players qualified and advanced into Day 2 of the Masters.

Flight 1C on Thursday saw the stakes going up another notch. A total of 185 players were present, with the casino identifying 19 qualifiers. Slovakian Jaro Holub closed the poker festivities on Thursday as the chip lead and with a a stack of 1,342,000.

Banco Casino Masters 39th Edition, May 2024

The tournament series continued full force on Friday, with the Banco Casino Masters High Roller with a buy-in of 550€ and a guarantee of 20,000€. Day 4 is also going to see some poker action during the flight 1E flight 1F at starting in the afternoon and late evening, respectively.

Still, with everything we’ve mentioned, it’s obvious that the greatest poker hands are yet to be played over the next few days, particularly Monday when we’ll be seeing Banco Casino crown its next poker champion. Whatever the outcome, we’ll never be far behind, following (and reporting) on every move.

Spin and Win – The Banco Wheel of Fortune

For those currently missing out on the live poker action in Bratislava, Slovakia, Banco Casino has something in store for you too.

The casino is more than well known for its various online poker promotions but today we’re talking about just the latest one – the Banco Casino Wheel of Fortune.

It’s pretty simple actually. The special Spin & Win promotion is taking place during May, specifically between May 5th and May 31th, meaning it’s well under way. Players can spin the Banco Wheel once per day, every day between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

In order to spin the wheel, players need to complete a condition related to a certain game. For instance, in Blackjack, players need to hit the suited Blackjack to qualify for a win. With cash games, they need to play for over an hour*.

While we can’t guarantee a win, we certainly hope you have a (responsible) blast at the poker tables, both online and off!

*please check the Banco Casino promotional Terms and Conditions for further information regarding this promotion

Online poker isn’t the only one peaking at the moment. Live poker is sizzling hot at the moment, with various events all over the world. The Mediterranean Poker Party (MPP), and the EA Poker Tour (EAPT) came together in Cyprus for a highly anticipated live event.

Big names such as Alex Keating, Fahredin Mustafov, Farrid Jatin, Fausto Tantillo, and Tom Bedell, all participated in other great poker tournaments.

With GGPoker being responsible for online qualifiers, many of young guns also joined in on the action. Names such as Michel Molenaar, Tom Talboom, Brendan Sheils, and Niall Farrell had great runs throughout the poker festival in Cyprus.

Well done to the entire organisation, staff, and all of the players. A great event, with smashed guarantees all over!

$1,100 Luxon Pay Mystery Bounty

The event kicked off with one of the most popular poker variants at the moment – the Mystery Bounty.

With 1,207 entries across multiple opening flights, a total prize pool of $1,2M was generated. Aleksey Savenkov emerged victorious as he dominated the final table by eliminating six out of the final nine players.

While Aleksandr Kirichenko didn’t make it to the final table, he was lucky enough to grab the highest bounty of $70,000. Unfortunately we do not have all information about the available bounties, but we can assumed that Aleksey Savenkov grabbed some much needed bounties alongside his trophy!

Jovan Kenjic had yet another run in the sun, taking down the $10K NLHE High Roller. Where last week Kenjic managed to snag 4th place during the EPT Main Event in Monte Carlo for €340K, he now closed the deal in the best way possible.

It all began with a total of 159 entries, leaving just 33 of them for the final day, of which 23 would end up in the money. Molenaar started the final day as chip-leader, but was unable to seal the deal, leaving him finishing in 4th place.

While Kenjic and Kirichenko came into the heads-up with equal stacks, it was Kenjic who took the lead and after a few bumps in the road, managed to secure one of the most iconic wins of his poker career.

$5,300 Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event

The $5,300 Main Event was, without a doubt, the tournament to look out for. Despite uncertainties of the the $5,000,000 GTD being met, players weren’t disappointed as a total of 1,260 entries came in across several days of play.

Tom ‘Tom_Poker_NL’ Talboom, a Dutch online poker stream who now resides in Austria, shared his experience on social media, mentioning he was in for seven bullets in the Main Event. It didn’t look promising for him, but he eventually made it to the final day of the event. That is, until he busted out of the tournament against Leon Sturm, the commanding lead for most of the tournament.

Sturm, known for participating in all the high roller events around the world, was without a question the bookmaker’s favourite, but eventually hit the showers in 3rd place. The heads-up battle would ultimately be one between the qualifiers Lamkov and Shcherbakov.

The final table action was an absolute stunner of a show, where Lamkov often took the lead with some ‘Hollywood-Acts’. One hand in particular, he had had hit a set on the flop, and once he had send all of his chips to the middle on the turn, he walked away from the table, pretending he would go down on the river. Not sure what his opponents were thinking at the time, but drama got a new meaning at that point.

We’ve barely even made it to the month of May, and it’s already looking like online series bonanza. The latest poker operator to throw their hat into the online poker tournament ring is none other than partypoker!

As of last Thursday, May 9th the partypoker MILLIONS Online has officially kicked off on the online poker giant. As we just teased above, the MILLIONS Online Main Event is a $500K GTD affair. Of course, this means it comes with a buy-in to match, $530 to be more precise. Same as its previous editions, the tournament will be played as a progressive knockout.

The Satellites Alternative

Some of the buy-ins for MILLIONS Online are a bit on the higher end and it looks like partypoker is well aware. That’s why the operator has made its satellites available from as little as $0.01. These infamous cent rolls means that just about anyone could be walking away with that $500K Main Event guarantee.

Other qualifying tournaments also come with accessible buy-in options, ranging from $1.65, $5.50. $11, $16.50, $22, to $33.

While we have no clue where this edition of the MILLIONS Online will take us, you can be sure we’ll be following its every step. If you’d like to follow along, keep up with the latest qualifiers, winners, and events on our social media!

Several players, including Alex Kulev, Matthias Eibinger, Sergio Aido, Fedor Holz, and Roman Hrabec, all had a great series overall, making it already exciting to see how they will getting on in Montenegro, where the next stop will be commence.

Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro 2024

The high roller scene will be travelling towards Montenegro for the next Triton Series event on the calendar. With other high roller events in the previous weeks in Monte Carlo and Cyprus, the high roller scene has not much to complain when it comes to absolute juicy live poker action. Montenegro, known to be a standard part of the Triton calendar, will welcome all players with open arms.

With 16 unique events, this Triton Series is ready for great poker action, to be followed on social media, livestream, and liveblogs. With PokerListings, we are trying to not let you miss out on any of the action by sharing inside information regularly through our social media channels.

If we had to pick out one major difference between the event in Jeju, and upcoming event in Montenegro, it’s that the Short-Deck events are missing out from the calendar. We are uncertain what drove them towards this decision, but for poker fans around the world this is great news, as these events seemed to have a lower attendance rate in previous stops of Triton Poker.

Who will be crowned as winner of a Triton Event in Montenegro? Who will continue the ‘run good’ of previous events? Stay tuned and follow all the action of Triton Poker!
