New PLO Games on ClubWPT Gold as Canada Comes Online
ClubWPT Gold had has had a busy few weeks. After subtly announcing it’s plan to stay in California even amid the new sweepstakes ban, the poker operator, or specifically, its ambassador Doug Polk took to X to make another announcement: Pot-Limit Omaha (both cash games and multi-table tournaments) was going live on ClubWPT Gold.
Just after this news, Polk jumped onto Reddit to take questions about everything from the new games, the platform’s expansion into Canada, and the future of the site in states like California. This Reddit thread gave us a rare chance to dig into how ClubWPT Gold actually works, KYC, multi-tabling and all.
So, PokerListings decided to dig through and give you the most interesting bits of information that Polk had to share.
What ClubWPT Gold Ambassador Doug Polk Had to Say
The Reddit thread in question started with Polk confirming that PLO cash games were going live first, with 6-max and full-ring tables likely to be available. After that, it was time for the Reddit community to do what it does best and ask about everything and anything that came to mind.
A Few Technical Questions
Most users wanted to get into the details right away. For instance, AA_ZoeyFn asked if there was any chance this meant that ring games would be getting bit of an overhaul as well. Unfortunately, Polk had to dissapoint them, at least for now:
Lobby filtering is on the eventual to do list. But we have higher priorities first like PLO, auto top up, wait for bb etc.
Then again, others wanted to know if there’d be changes in rake with this new release, and as far as Polk knows, the answer is no:
I think the same as the NL games afaik
Of course, there were those wanting to know if this PLO was just the beginning, a soft launch before releasing 5-card PLO, PLO8 or BigO. For that, we’ll just have to wait, since as Polk put it:
Lets be thankful it took 9 months to get PLO before we want more variants
What Was That About Canada?
The original Reddit announcement from Polk mentioned that Canada will be added in on Tuesday or Wednesday. So, naturally, users had some questions, the most prominent one being about deposit and cash out methods for players in Ontario. Based on what the ClubWPT Gold ambassador had to say, it looks pretty straightforward for now:
Will mainly be credit card/bank transfer assuming its the same in Canada as the US. Yes you will have to KYC with ID.
To some users’ surprise (and delight), Polk also confirmed Ontario will be in the share the player pool with the rest of the crowd, stating:
Ontario will be in the same player pool!
And What About Everyone Else?
With the Canada news, naturally, Reddit users wanted to know were any US announcements going to follow. Most inquired about individual states, such as Michigan and New Jersey, but both of these were a no-go for now, with Doug commenting on the latter:
No NJ update at the moment unfortunately .
Others, like No-Buy-6589, wanted to know where the situation stands with California. For his part, Polk kept it pretty straightforward without saying too much:
There isnt an official stance yet, but as I understand it, that bill specifically targets dual currency systems. We are not dual currency anymore.
