The Czech Republic is on the verge of the next corona-related lockdown. PokerStars has now pulled the ripcord and postponed EPT Prague, originally scheduled for December, indefinitely.
The European Poker Tour Prague was scheduled to take place from 8 to 19 December at the King’s Casino in the Hilton Hotel Prague. The event has now been postponed until next year. The Czech government had imposed restrictions due to growing concerns about the coronavirus in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic, like other European countries, is facing a rapidly increasing number of corona cases.
PokerStars said it would follow the government’s instructions and sees the safety of its staff and all players as a top priority.
The PokerStars blog stated this yesterday:
Following the recent government restrictions put in place in the Czech Republic we have had to make the unfortunate decision to postpone EPT Prague.
We understand that this will be disappointing news to our players, but we must follow the government guidance given to us.
The health and safety of our staff and players is a top priority and we will look to run EPT Prague at a later date when we are safe and able to do so.

Meanwhile, on the Czech-German border at the King’s Casino Rozvadov, the WSOP Europe is still going on. Although the tournament action is limited in time (the casino now has to close at 10pm every day due to the Corona measures), play will continue in Rozvadov until further notice.
