GGPoker Just Gave Your Raises a Legendary New Voice

Even with all its qualifiers and tournaments running this summer, GGPoker somehow found the time to release a new feature, aptly named Action Voice. Its name hints at its purpose well enough, since this newest upgrade allows players to hear their actions announced at the table by some of their poker heroes.

Here’s a little more detail.

Action Voice in Action

The July upgrade allows you to hear your gameplay choices, like calls, raises, and bets announced by poker legends, include the likes of  Daniel Negreanu — but how does that look in practice?

The feature isn’t enabled by default. To activate it, you have to:

  1. Log into your GGPoker account.
  2. Go to to ‘My Page’ and to ‘My Action Voice’.
  3. Choose among the available voice options and hit ‘Apply’.

The first voice GGPoker incorporated into the feature had to, of course, be Doyle Brunson — ten-time WSOP bracelet winner and two-time Main Event champion. Apart from the Godfather of poker, many other household names are available to pick from, including Michael Mizrachi, Kevin Martin and Greg Goes All-in, as well as a couple of more generic voice options.

The idea behind Action Voice is a bit outside the room’s usual feature scope but to hear the team behind GGPoker explain it, makes it make sense:

Think about the first time you watched Doyle Brunson play. Online poker rarely gives you that feeling anymore. You’re clicking buttons against strangers, and the game can start to feel a little hollow, a little disconnected from where it came from. We wanted one small moment in every hand to fight against that. So when you put in a raise, and you hear Doyle’s own voice call it out, know it came from the love of the game.
