The GGMasters anniversary will be held for the sixth time. This year, the organizers decided not to include “Overlay Edition” in the title, but it’s safe to predict that there will be an overlay. We’re sharing the details of the GGMasters Anniversary and taking a look back at how similar tournaments played out in previous years.
GGMasters Anniversary: the only remaining online freezeout with an eight-figure guarantee
The main feature of GGMasters is that it’s a freezeout. This means each player can invest in the tournament only one buy-in. No re-entries, rebuys, or add-ons. One Dream. One Shot.
There’s one more important feature: it’s a multi-flight tournament. There will be a total of seven flights. Every flight is one shot.
- Days 1A start February 1 at 12:00, 17:00, 22:00 UTC
- Days 1B start February 8 at 12:00, 17:00, 22:00 UTC
- Last Chance flight starts February 9 at 13:00 UTC
- Day 2 starts February 9 at 17:00 UTC
Blinds levels last for 15 minutes (8 minutes in last chance & 12 minutes in Day 2). Each flight runs for 25 blind levels or until 10% of the field remains.
You can qualify for the $150 GGMasters through satellites starting from $1. Look for them in the GGMasters — Satellites tab.
$250K GGMasters Ticket Drop
Play other GGMasters tournaments from January 25 to February 7 for a chance to win a random GGMasters ticket with buy-ins of $25, $108, $150, $320, or $1,050. Any GGMasters tournaments qualify for the promotion (excluding Step and Satellite events).
About GGMasters
The first $150 GGMasters took place on January 5, 2020. The guarantee at the time was $250K. The tournament ended with a $27,820 overlay. The winner was a player from Japan with the nickname howardern. In heads-up play, he made a deal with a player from Israel known as fjhgs. Both received $32,650.
Later, the weekly GGMasters guarantee increased to $500K in March 2020.
Starting in March 2022, GGPoker began running special Anniversary tournaments with guarantees in the multi-million-dollar range.
| Year | GTD | Entries | Overlay | Winner | Prize |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $5M | 33,806 | $334.7K | Sr_Duck | $343.5K |
| 2023 | $10M | 64,622 | $1.08M | Philipp Gruissem | $806.3K |
| 2024 | $10M | 66,894 | $768.6K | freefalas | $679K* (in heads-up deal) |
In 2025, the GGMasters Anniversary was canceled due to technical issues. More than 20,000 players were playing Day 2 at the same time.
