On March 8th, 2026, one of the most astounding players in poker history, Fedor Holz aka ‘CrownUpGuy’, announced his second semi-retirement, 10 years after the first one. This time he didn’t use this word exactly but his post hints at it pretty clearly.
Bitter-Sweet Farewell from Fedor
In the statement, Holz announced not only his parting with GGPoker but his future plans as well, since they are the reasons for this goodbye after all:
After 6 good years, I’ve decided not to renew my ambassador role with GGPoker. We are trying to have kids this year and I’m launching an investment fund, so that will be my full focus going forward. I started playing poker exactly half my life ago and it has given me an incredible amount of freedom and opportunity. It allowed me to travel the world, meet amazing people and build the life I have today. It will always be very special to me. Huge thanks to the team and to you, the community. It’s been a great ride and I’m very grateful.
However, him deciding to focus on his family doesn’t mean he is saying goodbye to poker. In the comments under his original announcement, Holz clarified that he is still considering attending high roller events, “maybe 1-2 trips a year” as he put it.

A lot of players came out to support Holz in this decision — these are just a few examples:
- Jeff Gross: Best to you and your family and your future endeavors! Always a pleasure to spend time on and off the tables and wish you continued success my friend 🤝
- Ryan “Beriuzy” Chamas: Thanks for pushing a whole generation of us to never give up.
- Your next chapter will be even more fullfilling & inspirational 😇
- Rob Kuhn: Good luck in the next venture brotha 🫡
- Adriano Alves: 🙏🏻 we’ll miss you on the felt! Hope you have a beautiful family and future but that you still play here and there!
- Joao Simao: the real dream starts now, my friend! Enjoy it!
What Was Holz‘s Job at GGPoker?
Holz was a GGPoker ambassador for six long years, joining the brand in 2020, just six months after Daniel Negreanu. He was among the first wave of sponsored pros when the network began its meteoric rise.
All these years, Holz hasn’t just been a face for the brand. In 2022, he became a virtual “tool” on GGPoker after launching the “Ask Fedor!” analysis system. Players could send their questions related to poker, specifically their Texas Hold’em play, directly to Fedor’s team and get detailed answers.

In 2024, Holz changed his role from just an ambassador to Poker Integrity Ambassador, taking on the role after Jason Koon stepped away from this position and left the GGPoker team altogether. From that moment up to Fedor’s own departure, he was directly involved in the room’s security, trying his best to help it become the best in the industry.
