888poker Welcomes Back the Global League This Summer

One way or another, you’re going to represent your national team this summer. In case of the World Cup, you’re going to have your face paint out and your national flag hanging high. In the case of 888poker, it’s going to be through the Global League — its comeback freeroll series running from June 15 to July 18, 2026.

This article is meant to give you a head start.

The Tier System

While this is a returning format, it has gotten a little bit of a revamp for the 2026 season but we’ll get to that. For now, the main goal (pun intended) remains the same — reach the final on July 18 though a tier tournament system.

  1. Secure Your Freeroll Passwords: To keep things exclusive, qualifying freerolls will be password protected, with passwords announced via socials (Instagram & Facebook Route (DMs) and Discord (Public Reveal).
  2. Play Weekly Qualifying Freerolls: There will be six qualifying freerolls running weekly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (two per day), with the top 20 players from each walking away with a free Main tournament ticket.
  3. Play the Main Tournament: There will be four main tournaments ($500 GTD) during the promotional period, each Sunday at 18.00 (GMT), where the top 11 players from each participating country qualify for Final tournament on July 18.
  4. Play the Final Tournament: On July 18, all participating players from the top three countries win access to Country Freerolls played on July 26, 2026.
  5. Play the Country Freerolls: and win!

Note: Players who want to secure their seat at one (or all) the Main tournaments can also buy in each Sunday for a $5.50 cash entry and skip the weekly qualifying freerolls.

The 2026 Season Changes

For the 2026 season, the Global League went back to a more individual approach as far as points are concerned. As the poker room put it:

888poker

Your score is determined by your exact finishing position and the total number of players in the tournament.

In translation, the scoring system is all about survival of the fittest in monster field.

Take a 400-player tournament as an example: the points operate on a simple countdown where the champion bags a cool 400 points, the runner-up snags 399 points, and third place walks away with 398 points. This granular scaling trickles all the way down the leaderboard, meaning even the unlucky soul who suffers the ultimate bad beat and busts first in dead last still walks away with 1 point for their troubles.

The Prizes

Up to this point, we’ve talked about everything but what you get out of the Global League. It’s time to talk about the prizes.

When the players clash in the final tournament on July 18, only three countries will come up on top:

PlacePrize
1Access to an Exclusive Freeroll with $3,000 GTD
2Access to an Exclusive Freeroll with $2,000 GTD
3Access to an Exclusive Freeroll with $1,500 GTD

Remember when we mention the individual element of the competiton?

As it turns out, the 2026 Global League will also reward players on an individual basis during the final tournament. That’s going to look something like this:

PlacePrize
16-month subscription to the Sunday Major
23-month subscription to the Sunday Major
3Main Event (ME) ticket for an online series of your choice
4$109 ticket to the Sunday Major
5$100 in BLAST tickets
