Final Two Platinum Passes for the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’Em Championship Awarded via Dramatic Podcast

In the classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory there was the elusive Golden Ticket that everyone was so desperate to get their hands on. But there’s more to life than gorging ourselves on chocolate and being the first to try out-of-this-world confectionary. Yes – let's step back and put things into perspective here: the golden ticket pales into insignificance when compared with what real money online poker has to offer the world!

With the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship finally upon us, and dreams about to be made in the luxurious surroundings of the inviting Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas, the hottest ticket in town certainly isn’t chocolate-related. Instead, online poker tournament fans looking to win big have been endeavouring over the last months to be the recipient of magical Platinum Passes that will see them whisked off to paradise to live it up and play megabucks poker.

When it came down to literally the very last two to be awarded, it was Pokerstars Poker in the Ears hosts, James Hartigan and Joe Stapleton, who had the honours of presenting the massively sought-after Platinum Passes.

This is what each of the last two lucky players received:

  • $25,000 buy-in to the PSPC
  • Six nights at a 5-star hotel for the winner and a guest
  • $1,900 expenses
  • Airport transfers
  • Platinum Pass Winner experiences during the event

High stakes, high drama

No wonder those in the random draw competition that was to determine who would be selected were on tenterhooks as the popular PokerStars podcast unfolded. Candidates would be selected at random and phoned with a question, and when the first potential winner failed to answer, it was Northern Ireland’s Alex Irwin who was next chosen, and who became the first named winner thanks to his being able to correctly answer his PSPC-related quiz question: How many of the 1,039 players made the money in the first edition of PSPC back in 2019? His correct answer of 181 earned Alex a $25,000 buy-in and expenses paid trip to the Bahamas...

The hosts then moved on to giving away the second and final pass. Disaster struck for the next hopeful, who got the question wrong! Next in line was Asif Warris of the UK, a well-known and popular character in the global poker community who is known as The Poker Tourist - an apt nickname given what was about to happen... Asif was asked for the name of the other Platinum Pass winner that joined Ramon Colillas at the final table at the first PSPC. Asif correctly answered that it was Mark Rivera, and he’ll now be freerolling the $25,000 event.

As last-minute opportunities go, it doesn’t get much better than this...
