PokerListings to Live Report the Coolbet Open This Week

PokerListings to Live Report the Coolbet Open This Week

After nearly three years away from the live felt, the Coolbet Open is set to return with a bang with 27 action-packed events from May 23 to May 29 in the majestic Estonian capital of Tallinn at Olympic Park Casino and adjoining the Hilton Tallinn Park.

Expect the Coolbear to be back and the festival to have the same feel and experience as players were used to before the pandemic including the highlight of the Festival in the Coolbet Open €550 Main Event from May 24-28. In addition, there are plenty of events for everyone with many different poker variants on offer. In addition, events start at just €115 with satellites starting much cheaper at just €15 to €60.

“The idea is to give exactly the same experience as we have given to the players before,” Coolbet Open Poker Manager Thomas Pasgaard Hviid said to PokerListings. “We think our concept for COVID has worked really well. And we want to keep that during the last two years, nothing has really changed for us in that sense. So, we think it makes sense to continue what we have been doing back then. But of course, it's going to be a special event.”

PokerListings is thrilled for the first time to live report the Coolbet Open Main Event from start to finish along with providing highlights from the side events.

About the Main Event

The Coolbet Open Main Event is always the highlight of the Coolbet Open and nothing has changed there. Numbers could be record-breaking with players qualifying for more than two years to the Coolbet Open but it might not surpass the 686 entrants attracted during the last Coolbet Open Main Event in November 2019 when Ott Kaarli Toome (pictured below) came out on top for €71,700.

Hviid pointed out to PokerListings that during the pandemic, Coolbet changed the way they were hosting their satellites allowing players to win a passport allowing players to choose different live event packages including for the upcoming The Festival Series Tallinn while also allowing players to receive refunds for unused packages due to event postponements.

That being said, anyway we look at it, the event will be huge and well structured. The event boasts two opening flights on May 25-28 with players starting out with 30,000 in chips and blinds increasing every 45 minutes.

Players will have plenty of opportunities to build a monster stack with unlimited re-entries permitted not only during the entirety of both opening flights but also can get into the action until late registration closes after the first blind level concludes on Day 2 on May 27.

Those surviving the second day will compete for one final day on May 28 on the casino floor until a winner is crowned in front of a live-streamed audience.

Plenty of Side Events

While the Main Event is certainly the biggest poker attraction on the schedule, there are plenty of other side events to whet your whistle as well.

The Coolbet Open features several multi-day events including the Coolbet Open €330 Deep Stack Championship (May 25-26), the €330 Pot Limit Omaha 4 & 5 Cards/ Round of Each (May 26-27), and the Coolbet Open €440 Main Sweat (May 27-28).

Those interested in events outside of no-limit hold’em will be pleased to learn that in addition to the two-day Omaha event listed above there are one-day events in Omaha, Omaha h/l, 8-Game, and Open Face Chinese Pineapple.

Two other events of significance are the Coolbet Open €115 Ladies and the €1100 Coolbet NLH Big Classic on May 28.
