Full Review

Ladbrokes Poker is one of Europe’s most popular online poker rooms, offering great promotions, strong game variety, good graphics and playability. Now operating on the Microgaming network, Ladbrokes Poker is a part of one of the largest sports betting operations in the world and with over 100 years of experience in the gambling world Ladbrokes Poker has no trouble providing high traffic volume, loose tables and an extensive range of table limits for its punters.

Games offered are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw and Five-Card Stud. Besides the regular poker action players can also entertain themselves and win money playing casino games and the innovative betting game "Poker Bet," all without leaving the Ladbrokes Poker client.

The large number of shorthanded and turbo tables creates loose and juicy games as well as quick playability - sometimes seeing more than 120 hands played per hour. Although there are always details that can be improved, the software has proven to be very functional, fast and reliable and it's available in both a download and a no-download flash version.

of late, Ladbrokes seems to be investing more energy into building its poker profile beyond the U.K., sponsoring several pro players, providing a blog and video coverage during the 2009 WSOP and generally pushing out a lot more new promotions and value-added features to its players.

The effort's been recognized, as traffic is on the rise. Real-money player stats show 1400 ring-game players at peak hours and 5000 tournament players at peak hours.

Tournaments and Freerolls (7)

Ladbrokes Poker hosts a wide selection of tournaments with buy-ins from $1 to the low hundreds. Tournaments are generally well-populated and fast, and play is usually somewhat loose thansk to the sportsbook customers dropping over for a quick SNG or two. Also because many of the tournaments are re-buy events, play in the early stages is often extremely loose - be sure to note the type of tournament before joining.

Ladbrokes Poker also runs monthly $150,000 and $250,000 tournaments that draw some massive fields. Daily qualifiers run for these tournaments with buy-ins as low as $5.50. They also offer some qualifiers to big live events, like the Monte Carlo Millions and the European Poker Tour

As for freerolls, Ladbrokes Poker offers a decent amount of free or almost-free tournaments - mainly large No-limit Hold’em tournaments. Ladbrokes Poker runs $100 guaranteed freerolls daily and with 2,500 player points or more massive $25,000 freerolls can be entered.

Software and Graphics (7)

Ladbrokes Poker runs on Microgaming software which is fast, smooth and offers very good playability. During any game you can see stats for your own play, such as how often you see the flop, your win percentage and more and there's also a graphic replay of hands that is very useful when analyzing past games.

Graphics are clean and sharp and the fact the software does not use avatars makes for a clean and easily viewable table.

The hand history works well in the software and exports smoothly to the local computer for analysis, but does not list hands played in a session. One function useful when clearing bonuses is the lobby counts raked hands, making it easy for a player to keep track of how much he has played.

The latest version of the Ladbrokes Poker software supports up to eight tables of simultaneous play and, if used with the mini-table size option, five tables can be viewed at the same time. The tables are a little cluttered though and the chat and other information dialogs take up a little too much space. Hole cards can also be hard to distinguish.
