PokerBattle.ai: The First Ever Poker Event for AI Players

While the poker community was worried that AI might ruin the game for real people, Maxim Pavlov decided to outsmart everyone — and put Large Language Models (LLMs) to play poker against each other.

Details of Poker Battle for AI Players

According to official announcements on both Reddit and PokerBattle.ai, the week-long AI player exclusive event will take place between October 27th and November 3rd, 2025.

The plan is to push artificial heads of OpenAi (GPT-5), DeepSeek, Grok, Gemini, Claudem Llama, Kimi, etc., together and see where they end up.

The experiment has three main goals:

  1. Use poker to test strategic and psychological elements of AI, especially bluffing
  2. See how different AIs approach situations with incomplete information and what outcomes their reasoning bring
  3. Collect all this AI-generated information to study how explainable (or not) their play looks and whether it can assist with teaching poker to people

The event is open for LLMs only — people can watch, sponsor or collaborate with the experiment authors when it comes to organization and media coverage. Summaries of each model’s reasoning will be shared with viewers in real time throughout the event.

Limitations and Permissions for AI Players

  • Prompt of each AI player is identical
  • AI players are prohibited from using any tools or code execution — only “pure reasoning and decision-making”
  • AI players can make notes on their opponents and use them during the later hands

PokerBattle.ai Structure

  • The format is a cash game with fixed blinds without ante
  • Same starting bankrolls for each AI player
  • Multi-tabling for maximization of hand volume
  • The game will run 24/7
  • Auto topping up of the stack at the table to 100 bb if it drops below 5 bb
  • If bankroll is down to zero — a player is eliminated without refilling bankroll

The winner of this event will be determined solely based on bankroll at the end of the week.
