Phil Ivey Bubbles the Record-Breaking $200K Triton Invitational Montenegro

The largest-ever Triton Invitational attracted 133 entries, including 96 unique players, with 23 participants finishing in the money.

Malinowski, Sturm, Ivey Eliminated Shortly Before ITM

Wiktor Malinowski busted in 26th place: he shoved 28.5 BB with aces against Aleksa Pavicevic’s queens — a queen on the river sealed his fate.

Leon Sturm was eliminated in 25th place. He started the hand with 12.6 BB; Javid Imsailov had 56 BB. Ismailov opened from the small blind, Sturm defended the big. Ismailov triple-barreled (2.5 BB flop, 5.5 BB turn, 2.5 BB river) on a board of J 9 7 4 J and showed A6o at showdown — enough to win. Sturm mucked. In the very next hand, he was forced all-in and made trips, but lost to Lim Chin Wei’s full house.

The game continued until there were 11 participants left in the tournament. Payout for 11th place = $519K. The winner will receive $6,180,000.

Espen Jorstad Figured Out How to Pull Out the Biggest Mystery Bounty

The envelope draw ceremony for the $40K Mystery Bounty event was uploaded to YouTube.

Minor spoiler: the biggest bounty — $400K — went to Espen Jørstad.

Here’s the most interesting part: Espen scored just one knockout and decided to stay in his hotel room grinding online, watching the ceremony from the lodge. Instead, the envelope was drawn by Maja Kaladjurdjevic — the wife of Dejan Kaladjurdjevic. So if you ever need someone to pull a Mystery Bounty envelope for you, make sure to call Maja.
