CoinPoker Revives the Classic Sunday Million with CoinMillion $1M GTD

CoinPoker Revives the Classic Sunday Million with CoinMillion $1M GTD

While PokerStars continues experimenting with the Sunday Million Anniversary format, CoinPoker has gone back to basics with a vanilla-style CoinMillion: a $215 buy-in, $1 million guarantee, a single starting flight, and no KO or Mystery Bounty. The tournament has only run twice so far, and one tournament produced a memorable story.

CoinMillion Battle of Malta Online Ends with a Dramatic Failed Deal Attempt

The $215 CoinMillion $1M GTD kicked off the Battle of Malta Online series on CoinPoker.

The tournament attracted 4,784 entries and finished with a $43.2K overlay.

JohnnieTsunami controlled most of the final table. Three-handed, he held 91 big blinds, while both n7v7rcapp7d and monc sat on 34 big blinds each.

In the very first hand of 3-handed play, JohnnieTsunami clicked the “Deal” button, but neither opponent accepted. He then tried negotiating in the chat:

  • guys, let’s see the numbers?
  • numbers? pay jumps x10 bigger than your lifetime earnings lol
  • Let’s deal. Gets everyone at least 2nd-place money.

Silence.

Nobody replied.

To be fair, JohnnieTsunami had a point regarding the payouts. Before this tournament, his total CoinPoker earnings stood at just $4.6K. Monc had earned $7.8K, while n7v7rcapp7d had accumulated $8.2K.

The remaining payouts were:

  • 1st — $121K
  • 2nd — $77K
  • 3rd — $55.8K

Play continued.

During that time, JohnnieTsunami lost the chip lead, and the stacks evened out at roughly 33 big blinds each.

He made one more attempt:

  • yall just want to flip for 70k, got it
  • numbers???
  • you guys are retarded lol. Flipping for 10s of ks

It felt like poker justice was on JohnnieTsunami’s side and that he was destined to win it all. Instead, the very next hand after his final chat message sent him to the rail.

Once heads-up began, monc clicked “Deal,” but n7v7rcapp7d declined.

Monc went on to win the tournament outright.

The CoinMillion Deal Story Had One More Twist

Monc officially had just $7.8K in previous CoinPoker cashes before this victory.

However, the player behind the nickname is actually Kirill “Rybka,” the same player who won the $500,000 top bounty in the $2,650 The Venom Mystery Bounty just a few months earlier.

The WPM CoinMillion Also Finished with an Overlay

The first-ever $215 CoinMillion $1M GTD took place during the World Poker Masters series in May.

It attracted 4,278 entries and resulted in a $144,400 overlay.

Portugal’s Daniel “DaniC1994” Custodio won the title and $126,500, while “loveandpeace” finished runner-up for $78,700.

CoinPoker has not yet announced when the next CoinMillion will take place, though it’s likely to return during the site’s next major online series.
